The role:
Protection Approaches is looking for a new chair of trustees to lead, challenge, and inspire us at an exciting time of growth and possibility. We are looking for a proven leader with previous board experience, who understands how to lead established non-profits through transition. We need a strategic thinker who is able to make difficult decisions but who is also open minded, able to listen, and able to find consensus. Somebody who has the ability to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds and is able to create an inclusive environment in meetings and in the charity where all are heard. Our chair will have an understanding of the work that Protection Approaches is engaged in and share our belief that the prevention of identity-based violence as a shared responsibility that stretches through governments to communities to individuals.

Founded in 2014, Protection Approaches is a fast-growing, dynamic, London-based charity that works locally, nationally, and internationally. We want to change the way the world thinks about identity-based violence – and by so doing, change how we respond to and prevent it. From our local programmes in communities to challenge hate crime to our global efforts to confront mass atrocities and genocide, we believe that this mission is not only possible but probable, and are dedicated to doing the long-term, difficult work necessary to make it sustainable.
Specifically, we:
- Work on the local level towards community led change, collaborating with communities on tackling marginalisation, building resilience, and research.
- Work on the national level towards state level change, whether on domestic or foreign policy. Our atrocity-prevention programme has led efforts that have transformed the UK approach to crimes against humanity and genocide while our domestic Stronger Communities programme has opened up funding for community-led solutions.
- Work on the multilateral and global level to transform how identity-based violence is understood and responded to within our international system.
- Conduct training courses on identity-based violence, hate crime and atrocity prevention.
- Across all these areas, we undertake, commission, and coordinate research to ensure that the programmes we develop and implement are supported by evidence and in line with global best practices.

Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference.
We need you to lead the shop volunteer team when the manager’s not in work to make sure our customers are getting the best shopping experience possible. It’s all about making sure that the shop’s running smoothly, it looks good and there’s money being made. You’ll also be opening and closing the shop and completing the banking and shop admin as well as stock handling and managing our security processes. So, it really is a role where you’ll get loads of retail management experience.
What will I be doing?
Opening and closing the shop
Complete the banking and shop admin
Communicating with a wide range of people
Serving customers at the till
Accepting donations from the public
Putting goods on display in the shop
Maintaining high levels of shop standards, presentation, and cleanliness
Generating add-on sales and Gift Aid conversion through high levels of customer service
Completing Gift Aid shop paperwork
Carrying out shop security procedures
Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide
What skills do I need?
Leadership experience in a retail environment
Customer service experience
Fab communication skills both face to face and over the phone
You know your way around a shop and how to run it well
Good numeracy & cash handling skills
Good admin skills
You’re really organised and can do more than one thing at a time.
How much time do I need to commit?
We’d need you to give around 7.5 hours per week if you can with the possibility to do more if you’d like to. However, we appreciate any time you’d like to give; please let us know this on your application form.

Chair, Treasurer and Trustee Vacancies
Hurst Farm Regeneration Limited, trading as Hurst Farm Wild Works, is a charitable community benefit society established in 2022.
We want to improve the lives and environment of people living on the Hurst Farm Estate in Matlock, Derbyshire. Local residents are working with us to achieve our mission through a range of practical outdoor activities including woodland management, a community garden, dry-stone walling and bee-keeping. Our volunteer programmes help to improve skills and wellbeing for local people. Our aim is to create financial sustainability through the delivery of viable social enterprises on Hurst Farm, which are owned and operated by local people.
We are working closely with Derbyshire Dales District Council on the delivery of the £1.2m National Lottery Heritage Fund funded Hurst Farm Heritage Trail project which is expected to run until the end of 2026. The project aims to improve the existing footpaths around the Hurst Farm Woodland, connecting four heritage sites.
We are being mentored by The Green Estate Community Interest Company, who are using their 25-year experience of building successful national social enterprises on the Manor Estate in Sheffield.
We now need to recruit additional trustees to strengthen the Society’s existing Board which is responsible for areas such as governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, risk management and delivery of the organisation's mission and values.
We are looking for people who can offer knowledge, skills or experience in any of the following areas:
· Chairing an organisation
· Financial and budget management
· Woodland management and horticulture
· Running a forest school
· Applying for grant funding
· Management of volunteers
· Health and safety
· Marketing, communications and social media
· IT systems
· Social housing

Overview of the role:
Fallowfield and Withington Foodbank are seeking someone with experience of working in a financial role to join the Board as a Trustee, who will be able to prepare accounts, advise on financial matters, ensure we meet our financial obligations and help us build a sound financial strategy as we move forward. As a Trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of Fallowfield and Withington Foodbank and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, ensuring compliance with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable.
Responsibilities
All trustees are responsible for setting the strategic direction for Fallowfield and Withington Foodbank, ensuring alignment to our values, defining goals, setting organisational policies, agreeing financial plans, evaluating the charity’s performance and ensuring good relationships amongst the trustees and with the senior staff.
All Trustees:
- Ensure that the Foodbank has in place a clear strategy, plans, vision & values.
- Ensure that the charity is accountable, is actively complying with statutory reporting and accounting requirements and the law, and that financial dealings are systematically accounted for and on time, independently examined and made publicly available.
- Develop effective ways to communicate with staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, funders, partners and the wider public; encourage transparency and accountability.
- Help promote the Foodbank as widely as appropriate, including to audiences of potential funders and beneficiaries.
- Ensure appropriate financial plans and budgets are in place; monitor contractual agreements with external partners that award money for core costs and additional projects.
- Ensure the Foodbank has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding, and data protection.
- Ensure an understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion.
Specific to the Treasurer Trustee:
- Oversee the financial affairs of the foodbank, ensuring that they are conducted with probity and transparency.
- Ensure the board receives sufficient information to carry out its financial responsibilities.
- Ensure that the charity has robust and effective financial controls.
- Ensure appropriate financial policies.
- Ensure an annual budget is provided for board approval.
- Prepare quarterly accounts for the board and annual accounts for the Charity Commission.
- Ensure that organisation risks are reviewed by the board annually.
- Be part of any sub-groups to the Board as appropriate
We are looking someone who wants to help their local community and work towards the eradication of food poverty whilst supporting the food bank to continue to provide emergency food to people who find themselves in crisis. Our ideal candidate would demonstrate:
- Experience of working in a financial role. However, previous experience as a charity treasurer is not essential.
- A commitment to the work of Fallowfield and Withington Foodbank.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to actively participate in discussions concerning needs of the foodbank’s beneficiaries, staff, and the trustee board.
- Willingness to act in the best interest of the charity.

What will you be doing?

Trustees generally meet for full Board meetings a minimum of five times a year.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for Trustees with the following experience and capabilities:
· Fundraising, particularly around Trusts and Statutory Fundraising, Corporate pitch development, and Individual Giving experience. As well as experience developing Fundraising and Engagement strategies.
· Financial management, mainly focused in the charity sector.
· Service delivery experience.
· Safeguarding experience.
· Legal, HR, IT, and GDPR are also skillsets we are also interested in recruiting.

This role is a home-based role, which will require attending four online monthly meetings, and up to an hour of pre-reading before each one. One of these meetings will be between 12-5pm.
What the role involves
- Attending four monthly, online meetings

- Taking comprehensive meeting notes, to share information between the EDI reference and activity groups

About the role
As a MindWell Research Champion, you’ll be part of the MindWell team and play a vital part in helping to raise awareness of the information, guidance and support MindWell offers.
- You’ll help us to identify health and wellbeing events across the city and key locations for distributing and displaying MindWell materials.
- You’ll make contact with event organisers and locations to find out whether MindWell can support them in any way.
- You'll create a calendar of events, build contacts and relationships with organisations and individuals across the city. and work closely with MindWell Events and Promotional Volunteers.

Tasks and responsibilities

What will you be doing?

Cambridge Regional College is looking for three new governors to join our Board to help set college strategy, scrutinise budgets and accounts and improve the student experience.
The College is one of the largest providers of vocational training and apprenticeships in the region, with two campuses in Cambridge and Huntingdon. We are particularly looking for governors with a business or financial background to help support our finance and business committees, but would also welcome governors with an educational background.

We are looking for three new governors to join our board. We currently have vacancies on two of our committees covering finance, business and enterprise, so are particularly looking for governors with a background in accountancy, business or finance. We would also welcome applicants from a teaching or broader educational background to assist with our committee covering learning and the student experience.
No formal experience of being a governor is required.
