Role of the Senior Bid Writer:

• To work with management across the organization to align grant funding applications with funding requirements and to ensure the correct information is being provided

About the role

The Board of Governors is the non-executive body of St. Brendan’s Sixth Form College. Who we are looking for

Following recent changes to the Board of Governors, through terms of office ending and a recent recruitment round, we have identified the need to appoint a new Foundation Governor. The new Governor will contribute their expertise in leadership or management, alongside sharing in our Catholic faith. Furthermore, having financial expertise would be advantageous.

The new Foundation Governor’s appointment will be approved by the Diocese of Clifton for an initial four-year period, and so the person appointed should have the capacity to devote the necessary time and energy to the role, through preparing for and attending meetings, and making visits to the college for celebration events, and to meet with staff and students.

Love Rwanda Initiative

A youth and women organisation focused on empowerment programs with an emphasis on Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), Mental health and Livelihoods.

1. Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Limited access to information and SRHR services: Challenge: Young people and women in Rwanda still remain out of reach from adequate information prior to their first sexual act, which brews misconception of facts hence leading to risk behaviors. High levels of teenage pregnancy and unsafe abortion: Challenge: Teenage pregnancy rates remain high and many young women continue to resort to unsafe abortions since they cannot access safety services. Gender-Based Violence Challenge: Gender-based violence, in particular sexual assault and domestic violence, is rampant against the health and well-being of women and girls.

2. Mental Health: Stigma/Lack of Awareness Challenge: The stigmatization of mental health issues prevails with a corresponding lack of awareness and understanding about mental health in the community. Lack of Mental Health Services: Challenge: The avenues available for mental health services are very few, and the personnel is few in number; therefore, accessibility to the required aid becomes difficult.

3. Livelihoods: Unemployment and Underemployment: Challenge: Most youths and women face high levels of unemployment or low wage employment with no stability. Lack of Entrepreneurial Opportunities: Challenge: Women and youth lack resources and facilitation to start and sustain enterprises of their own. Economic Dependency: Challenge: Economic dependency on male family members constrains women's autonomy and puts them at a low decision-making power.

1. Comprehensive sexual education programs, partnering with local clinics to provide easy access, and raising awareness campaigns regarding SRHR in the community.
2. Contraception, family planning, and müş promoting safe and legal abortion services.
3. Support service provision to survivors of GBV, including counseling and legal aid, with community education on prevention of violence against women for gender equality.
4. Conduct sensitization and campaigns to raise awareness on mental health, reduction of stigma, and promotion of good mental health in the community.
5. Counseling centers, training of mental health professionals with peer support groups
6. Provide vocational-training programs for people with marketable skills that will enhance job employability.
7. Provide entrepreneurship training skills and financial literacy accompanied by access to micro-finance and grants for people willing to start small businesses.
8. Economic Empowerment by means of livelihood programs that allow women to generate their own income towards financial independence.

Role Description

Responsibilities:

1.Content Development:

-Create, edit, and publish high-quality content for the website, including articles, blog posts, success stories, program updates, and event announcements. -Collaborate with programs team to gather relevant information and translate it into compelling web content. -Ensure all content is aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and branding guidelines.

2.Website Management:

-Maintain and update website content regularly to keep it current and relevant. -Monitor website performance and user engagement, making improvements based on analytics and feedback. -Maintain website's functionality, user experience, and visual appeal.

3.SEO optimization:

-Ensuring content is optimized for search engines (SEO) with relevant keywords, meta tags and description to improve visibility and organic traffic. -Analyze website traffic and user behavior using tools like Google Analytics, and report on key metrics to inform content strategy.

4.Technical Maintenance:

-Ensure website security, backups, and regular updates to content management systems and plugins. -Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to the website.

Volunteer 7-9 hours per week for 6+ months remotley.

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

• The Fundraising and Financial Management vertical covers fundraising and money matters: This team is all about finding resources—like getting donations and grants—to keep our programmes strong and healthy.They will spend their time writing fantastic letters, sponsorship proposals and funding requests on behalf of Barawak as a whole, but also (supporting programme leads) to specific organisations for Barawak service lines.

• The Partnership Development and Collaboration vertical covers building bridges: They're the connectors, making friends with other groups, businesses, and everyone who can help us grow.

International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) was founded in 2009 and aims to provide protection and improve the welfare of animals in need. 

We have recently relaunched our Auctions for Animals online fundraising events and are searching for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team to help source donations. Ideally our volunteers will have some experience in generating donations/prizes for fundraising events, or will be happy to spread the word within your local community and collect new or preloved donations for us. 

Tasks will include:

• Identify suitable avenues for donations, creating and building relationships with our supporters and donors and helping to promote IAPWA within your local community.

• Assist with the running of our monthly auction events via our Auctions For Animals Facebook Group, eBay and Vinted shops.

Ideally you will;

• Enjoy promoting our charity within the community and help to generate a regular stream of donations. 

• Have experience of using Google Workspace or willingness to learn.

• Be able to work independently and use your own initiative.

• Offer 1-3 hours per week (hours can be fully flexible)

• A passion to help raise funds for animals in our care

Our Books and Music Shops are part of what makes Oxfam totally unique. We get some really exciting donations and even more interesting customers. As a volunteer here, you’ll help us make the most of those donations and keep our customers coming back for more.

We’ll share our expertise with you and give you all the training and support you need to help us make the most of our wonderful donated books, DVDs, CDs, and vinyl. Whether you have years of experience or are totally new to retail, you will be part of a fantastic community of volunteers.

Our shops are like a beehive – there’s so much going on! You can keep busy behind the scenes, sorting, researching, and pricing donations. As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will play a vital part, in organising and assisting with our fundraising activities. All the proceeds from these activities go directly towards the essential animal welfare work that we do at branch level. We rescue and rehome around 200 animals each year and provide community help and support with animal welfare in all DA postcodes plus BR8 postcodes.

Volunteer Fundraising Volunteer responsibilities:

• Organise, advertise, and promote fundraising activities to raise vital funds to improve animal welfare.

• Plan and participate in organised events for fundraising over an agreed time period.

• Communicate all planned activities with staff and other volunteers.

• Work alongside other volunteers, staff and members of the public, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.

• Ensure best practice in fundraising and that it is legally compliant.

What we are looking for in a Fundraising Volunteer:

• Someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment 4 hours weekly.

Become a GamCare Online Peer Supporter

Make a difference by using your own experiences

For over 25 years, GamCare has been there for people experiencing gambling harms, whether that be people who gamble themselves or someone impacted by someone else’s gambling. We offer support over the phone, face-to-face or online and our treatment is free, flexible and confidential.

We are currently recruiting for Online Peer Supporters, to provide one-to-one and group support to both individuals who gamble and those affected by someone else’s gambling. Using their own experiences of gambling-related harms, volunteers will support others digitally as part of our Online Support Services and will include email support as well as facilitating our Forum and Chatrooms.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided to enable you to use your lived experience to work with our team as an Online Peer Supporter, providing support to all of those affected by gambling.

We believe that peer support is essential in the recovery journey. It provides:

• Shared understanding
• Reduces stigma
• A non-judgemental environment
• Practical insights and tools
• Continued motivation and hope

Our online platforms are designed to provide social connection to those who could be isolated or feel they have no one else to talk to. People accessing our services have identified that receiving support from someone who has had similar experiences can really benefit them when overcoming the challenges they may face on their recovery journey. It also provides a sense of community and belonging and contributes to the long-term support of those accessing these services.

Training

A comprehensive training programme will be delivered by our Lived Experience Volunteering team to provide you with the skills and confidence to use your experiences to support others while protecting your own recovery. Training includes:

• Safeguarding
• Motivational interviewing
• Facilitation skills

Role Responsibilities

Online Peer Supporters will:

• Navigate and guide contacts through existing services at GamCare and the National Gambling Support Network.
• Use motivational interviewing skills while drawing from their own lived experience to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space for those affected by gambling harms.
• Facilitate discussions via our online support services, including:

Email – you will be paired with an individual for regular email correspondence (up to 3 emails per week for 6 months)
Chatrooms – you will facilitate group discussions and supporting conversation between people at various stages of recovery
Forum – you will initiate discussions, respond to posts, and provide encouragement, signposting and support to forum users

• Help individuals set aims and goals to move to a more positive, sustained recovery whilst also providing resources to support people with these plans.
• Recognise the purpose and remit of our service and signposting to other internal and external support where appropriate.

What can I expect from GamCare?

In return, GamCare will:

• Provide a full, comprehensive induction and training programme

• Offer and arrange 1:1 and group supervision
• Fully support your own wellbeing and recovery journey

• Provide a reference after 3 months of regular volunteering

Role Requirements

For any of our volunteering roles we ask that you have lived experience of gambling-related harms. This includes being affected by someone else’s gambling (friend or family member).

We ask that you’ve been in positive, sustained recovery for at least one year before volunteering with us.

This role is completely remote, so you’ll need access to a reliable internet connection, a computer and a confidential space.

Availability & Commitment

We ask that you have availability at a regular time for around 1-2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Before volunteering with us, you will need to complete a mixture of self-directed online training and live online group training sessions delivered by our Volunteer Coordinators over a period of approximately 4 weeks.
