Main Purpose of Job: The HR Communications Manager will act as the HR Public Relations & Events Manager, and it will lead ADC Volunteer-focused communication initiatives by crafting compelling narratives to drive volunteer engagement and bring HR initiatives to life across internal channels

Main Duties & Objectives: 

• Develop and implement a communications strategy for ADC’s HR initiatives 

• Create engaging content for ADC’s internal general channel regarding new joiners, exits promotions and other HR-related topics to keep Volunteers updated of organizational changes 

• Manage the creation and distribution of HR-related marketing materials, namely newsletters, messages for emails, messages for posts, scripts for presentations, etc., to raise internal awareness about HR Projects and Initiatives 

• Plan and execute internal HR events (virtual and in-person), such as town halls, induction sessions, get-togethers, etc 

• Serve as liaison between the People Team and other teams to facilitate open and transparent communication 

• Track the effectiveness of internal communications initiatives through surveys, analytics, and ADC’s Executive Team feedback to continually improve internal communications practices

• Participate in HR project management meetings

Knowledge, skills, education, and experience

Essential

Our East Hampshire Supported Housing Service is tailored for each individual using the service with the ultimate goal to help them manage their accommodation and assist them with reintegration back into independent living and the wider community. We provide units of both intense supported housing and lower-level supported housing, designed to help people move on to independent living. We also provide community-based support with drop-in services and group sessions at different locations throughout East Hampshire.

As a Garden Project Volunteer, your role will involve supporting the service to effectively maintain and develop garden spaces in various locations and ensuring high standards of tidiness and cleanliness. As well as horticultural duties such as planting, watering, weeding, pruning, propagation and maintenance of vegetable beds, optional grounds maintenance duties include sweeping, clearing paths, mowing, edging and compositing. You’ll also be responsible for working alongside and supporting people using our wellbeing service, for example talking them through an activity or task and making them feel at ease. Relevant training will be provided.

In return for your skills and enthusiasm, you’ll have the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to a worthwhile project within the community and the chance to play your part in the development of a garden in an exciting space. You’ll also be working with a positive and friendly team of people who enjoy regular team social events. A full induction in our work and access to relevant online learning to further develop skills, is also provided as is reimbursement of agreed out of pocket expenses like public transport/mileage costs.

Expert knowledge of the safe and correct use of all equipment used in the day to day running of the charity shop, for example the till, steamer, pricing equipment. Training is provided.

About the role.

We are looking for a new trustee with senior experience in an organisation supporting people experiencing homelessness and/or disadvantaged young people. This person will be contributing as a key member of our trustee Board with a particular focus on our grant giving and how we direct our funds to organisations creating longer-term impact in our areas of focus.

As a proactive grantmaker, we are always looking to refine and develop our grant-giving activity. You will play a key part in helping us think through and advise on grant-giving opportunities, bringing your insights and understanding to inform our grant-giving activity.

St John Ambulance needs YOU! We have amazing cadet units in Staffordshire, Shropshire & Wolverhampton that are ready to expand and open to more young people in our area and we need volunteers like you!

Being a youth leader is an amazing opportunity for adults aged 18+ to teach valuable lifesaving skills to young people aged 10 – 17 in your area! Volunteering at least two hours per week could make a massive difference to these cadets now and have a real impact on your community.

But it's not all about what you'll give - you will learn a lot too!

As the cadets develop, so will you. You’ll gain communication, listening and presentation skills and grow in confidence. You’ll also have the chance to learn First Aid and take on more advanced roles with training, all while being fully supported by the rest of your team.

Overview of the role

We are an exciting team that aim to design and develop fantastic programme for all members of our organisation. We have several ongoing pieces of work and upcoming projects that enable volunteers to get stuck right in and have real impact. You will have a part in designing programme, see it develop and then watch it reach local Scouting.

Our upcoming projects will be aiming to develop our top-quality programme. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in innovative and impactful programme design. Each project is anticipated to last for 3 months. Once your project is complete, we will support you in your next steps as a volunteer. This could include inviting you to apply to join the Programme Design Team on a long-term basis. 

What we are looking for

As a small charity we have a committed and enthusiastic team of employees and volunteers on the ground who work to support our young people and their carers. As Roots looks to expand its work and programmes, we are seeking to enhance our board in order to embed a new strategic plan and provide support to the growing number of employees.

We are specifically interested in trustees who have experience in any of the following areas to strengthen our existing skills set.

• Finance, accounts and budgets 

• Campaigning 

• Change Management 

• Comms and Marketing

• Legislation in relation to the organisation's work and charitable status.

• Monitoring and evaluating performance

• Health and Safety 

We are particularly keen this time to recruit Trustees with relevant lived experience, such as care leavers and kinship carers.

We also encourage applications from young, disabled or Welsh speakers, and people that live in Swansea and the surrounding areas, as these groups are currently under represented on our Board. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential. 

We are also particularly interested in recruiting a Treasurer. As the organisation grows and receives more funding, it is important that we have a Trustee experienced in financial management, who can oversee the accounts and budgets as well as advising on the financial implications of the new strategic plan. 

Role on Trustee board: 

• To oversee the strategic development and growth of the charity in line with its aims and objectives.

• To support events and be an active and contributing member of the trustee board and its activities.

• To take the lead in agreed areas, working with sub groups that could include employees and feedback to the wider board. 

Commitment required: 

We meet as a Board every two months, usually on a Tuesday at 5pm for 2 hours. The Trustees will be provided with the relevant papers in advance of meetings, preparation and reading for the meeting usually takes about an hour. 

There is an expectation that Trustees are available for 80% of these meetings (ie 5 per year) and to undertake agreed tasks outside of these times. The monthly commitment is approximately 6 hours per month, including meetings and meeting preparation. 

The Trustees also meet twice a year in person at Roots, usually in the spring for half a day and autumn for a full day. 

We are seeking Trustees that will also be visible and engage in activities at certain times of the year, for example celebrating successes, supporting activities such as trips with young people and be public facing where agreed to promote the organisation. One Trustee per month is expected to visit Roots, for visibility and to help support the staff and young people.

Reimbursement / allowance entitlement.

Trustees will be entitled to mileage allowance and other reasonable expenses to attend meetings in person and take part in agreed activities. 

We will provide induction and ongoing training. Due to the nature of our work with young people, an enhanced DBS check is required for this role. 

St John Ambulance are looking for new Youth Leaders in North Yorkshire to help continue our efforts in teaching First Aid to young people across the region.

Youth Team Volunteers teach young people, of all different backgrounds, vital and life-changing first aid skills. We have two programmes – our Badgers (aged 5 – 10 years old) and our Cadets (aged 10 – 17 years old).

We are currently on the lookout for both Youth Helpers and Youth Leaders. By volunteering a minimum three hours per week you could make a massive difference to these cadets now and have a real impact on your community.

But it's not all about what you'll give - you will learn a lot too!

You’ll gain communication, listening and presentation skills and grow in confidence.

You’ll also have the chance to learn First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Adventure skills and take on more advanced leadership roles with training, all while being fully supported by the rest of your team.

Under your watch, cadets will develop their potential, they will learn vital first aid skills that they can deliver at events and activities across North Yorkshire and Teesside. They will gain confidence, make friends, and engage in community and social change.
