Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

Our Key Volunteers are shop volunteers who have additional responsibilities. This is a varied and responsible role where you’ll be provided with training that will equip you to support the Shop Manager and Assistant with the day to day running of the shop, including:
- Provide a warm, friendly welcome to customers.
- Provide great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience, support other volunteers to do the same.
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public.
- Processing sales and serving on the till.
- Open and close the shop when necessary to support the Shop Manager.
- Cash up the till at the end of the day.
- Support with sorting donations and price stock, keeping the shop stocked up, clean and tidy.
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives.
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community.
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
- Following health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

About Cruse
Cruse is Britain’s oldest and largest bereavement charity. In the Midlands, Cruse brings together more than 500 volunteers to helped support bereaved people, through a mix of individual and group sessions.
Cruse volunteers all pass through the same training process. Some volunteers are trained or trainee counsellors, whilst others have bereavement experience or put their listening skills to practice in helping people through their grief journey.
Cruse Worcestershire
The well-established Cruse branch of Worcestershire is seeking a Volunteer Chair. This active branch has 30 volunteers and can be supporting approximately 100 bereaved people at any one time. The volunteer team predominantly support service users via phone or Zoom, but does have outposts across the area. The team meet for regular forums and also hold in-person meetings, to socialise and cover learning topics specific to the work.
The role
The branch is looking for a Volunteer Chair. This role of Chair will be stimulating and call on your strategic and interpersonal skills.
It provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of volunteers and staff in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the people of Worcestershire.
The Chair provides a focal point for the branch, representing the volunteers and delivering a sense of cohesion to the volunteer group, championing their priorities and supporting key activities like learning, social events and fundraising.
The role is not remunerated. However, reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the role will be repaid.
Time Commitment
· The Branch Forum meets approximately 8 times a year for 1.5 hours in the evening (7pm – 8.30pm).
· Monthly operations-focused meetings with the volunteer administrators/part-time staff approx. every 6 weeks.
· Ad hoc communication outside of formal meetings.
· Attendance of Cruse national meetings based on interest/focus
· 3 in-person group social/learning events each year

Smart Works is a dynamic, high profile and fast-growing UK charity that dresses and coaches unemployed women for success at their job interview. We empower each woman by giving her the clothes and the confidence she needs to succeed.
After visiting Smart Works, 63% of clients secure a job within a month, gaining financial independence and transforming their lives.
The Smart Works service is delivered in London, Greater Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds. Over the past ten years, Smart Works has helped over 30,000 women. It is our mission that any woman who needs our service should be able to find her way to a Smart Works centre.
In April 2022, Smart Works launched a new Three-Year Plan that will see the charity double the number of women helped annually from 5,000 to 10,000 women a year. To achieve this, we will grow our existing centres and open new centres in areas of need. As of June 2024 40% of the clients that Birmingham Smart Works centre saw were aged 16-29. Consequently, we are seeking a new trustee who will help raise greater awareness about our services with young women so that we are more successful in connecting with that community across the West Midlands.

About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Works Birmingham Board of Trustees.
The Young Women’s Trustee will lead the development of understanding the needs of Smart Works younger clients aged 16 to 25 years (these being unemployed, NEET or in danger of becoming NEET, and those leave the care system) and become a recognised and valued advocate for this community across the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will develop new and existing connections with referral partners who support young unemployed women, input to the marketing plan and social media content to better reach and communicate with this audience, and build relationships with corporate partners and grant funders who support this community.
The candidate will also have the opportunity to connect with policy makers focussed on improving the employment outcomes for young women across West Midlands.
General Duties of a Smart Works Trustee
- Work with the Chair of the Board of Trustees to ensure the centre is well-run and governed effectively.
- Provide support to determine the strategic direction of the Centre.
- Advocate for the Centre, raising its profile and the awareness of the Smart Works service in the geographic area.
- Build strong working relationships with the Chair, fellow trustees, staff, volunteers and supporters.

Personal Specification
The trustee will use their skills and experience to amplify the voices of Smart Works younger clients and successfully network with key employment and skills programme providers, third sector, and 16+ educational organisations that exist across the West Midlands.
Lived experience of unemployment and overcoming barriers at a young age, and / or experience supporting social value or youth unemployment projects is preferred, but not essential.
The successful applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm for developing at board level and will become a real advocate for young women living in socially disadvantaged and minority communities across the West Midlands.
The Trustee will be required to sit on relevant task force groups as and when experience is relevant and attend (and prepare for) Board meetings taking place quarterly. For those new to Board positions, a mentor from the wider trustees team will be provided.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Capital Campaign Manager will coordinate all aspects of a joint fundraising campaign to create the Stand Up for Gaza project and campaign to launch mid Q3 2024. The culmination of this collaborative project will result in many outcomes, namely the distribution of hygiene H.E.R. Kits to the women and girls of Palestine most affected by the ongoing Israeli war. The Stand Up for Gaza project will provide a platform where experts, artists and the general public will come together for the purpose of educating the public and creating thoughtful conversations about the ongoing distress experienced by women and girls in Palestine since the beginning of the Israeli war, as well as implement distribution of HER Kits.
Performed remotely, this role is considered temporary through December 2024. Contract employment will be considered for the right candidate at a negotiable rate.
DUTIES:
- Overall campaign management and organisation including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment and maintenance of timelines;
- Researching and identifying prospects;
- Scheduling meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and full meeting prep for partners, campaign volunteers and IWI staff;
- Overseeing acknowledgement of all campaign gifts and pledges and preparation of pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements;
- Writing all campaign correspondence including solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and meeting follow up;
- Maintaining master campaign calendar to maximise cultivation events and keep campaign committee on track;

The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, strategic, professional and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. Candidates must have a high level of computer literacy, including experience using online databases and other sources to locate financial and philanthropic information, and possess exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in event planning, project management, fundraising, communications, marketing, or similar functions, preferably in a non-profit setting.

The Diana Award are thrilled to invite you to volunteer for our Mentoring Programme and Social Action Accelerator Pilot this Autumn (2024), which operate across London, Leeds and West Yorkshire.
We collaborate with volunteer mentors to support young people aged 14-18 who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) through mentoring interventions, career skills development programmes, and support with their youth-led social action projects.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER AS A MENTOR?
We welcome applicants across all industries and levels of experience. Through mentoring you will gain skills in communication and leadership, building empathy and understanding of issues and barriers facing young people in their communities.
OUR MENTORING PROGRAMMES
Based on your application to mentor and your availability, you will be placed in either our Mentoring Programme or Social Action Accelerator Pilot. Both programmes run between October 2024 – February 2025.
Mentoring Programme:

Twelve weeks of weekly group mentoring sessions.

Mentoring sessions last one hour (excluding travel) and are delivered on the same day and time each week.

Volunteer mentors share advice and guidance with young people who are at risk of becoming NEET.
Social Action Accelerator Pilot:

We will train you to mentor and provide ongoing support for the duration of your programme.

As a Dog A.I.D. Trustee you would be using your skills and experience to support our charity in achieving its ambitious strategic growth targets over the coming years and guiding its transition to becoming a larger, more robust charity with increased profile and reach.
Dog A.I.D. empowers physically disabled people by coaching them to train their own pet dog to become an accredited Assistance Dog. By focusing on the existing pet/owner bond, outcomes for our clients include:

· reduction in social isolation
· reduced reliance on family members and/or carers.
· increased opportunities, with many of our clients being able to return to work or education, supported by their accredited Assistance Dog.
We are looking for Trustees who can contribute 2-5 hours per month, including attendance at online quarterly Board meetings and other ad-hoc meetings and strategic discussions. We are also hoping to have occasional in-person meetings and Away Days to build the trustee team. All we ask is that you are keen and able to:
· Complete and submit the relevant paperwork and forms
· Keep up to date with relevant legislation
· Engage in quarterly supervisions and volunteer meetings with your volunteer manager

Purpose of role:
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA).
Scope and Objectives:
Trustees have a duty individually and collectively to:
·Determine the overall direction and development of WCA through good governance and clear strategic planning.
·Ensure that WCA pursues the objectives defined in its governing documents, and complies with charity law, company law, employment legislation, and with all other relevant legislation, constantly striving for best practice in governance.
·Uphold the financial responsibilities invested in their position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in WCA.
·Ensure that WCA uses its resources in pursuit of its charitable objects.
Main duties:
·To contribute actively to the Board’s role in providing direction for WCA, in setting overall policy and in maintaining a framework of good governance and accountability, and in evaluating performance against agreed targets.
·To give clear direction, leadership, guidance, and advice to the WCA director and staff.
·To safeguard the good name and values of WCA and to act as an ambassador for the organisation.
·To provide vision, inspiration, and support to the WCA director and staff.
·To ensure the effective and efficient administration of WCA.
·To ensure the financial stability of WCA.
·To appoint the director and monitor his/her performance.
·To use specific skills, knowledge, or experience to help the Board of Trustees to reach sound decisions.
This may involve:
·Scrutinising Board papers;
·Contributing to or leading Board discussions;
·Acting as a board champion for a particular area of WCA’s work;
·Identifying and focusing on key issues;
·Providing guidance on new initiatives;
·Being part of a working group.
Duty of Care:
Each Trustee will:
·Apply reasonable care and skills as a Trustee, using their knowledge and experience to ensure that WCA is well run and efficient;
·Be ready to consider the need for external professional advice on matters where there may be material risk to the charity, or where the Trustees may be in breach of their duties;
·Safeguard the good name and values of WCA.
·Maintain absolute confidentiality about sensitive information received in the course of responsibilities as a Trustee.
Each Trustee will:
·Ensure that the charity is and will remain solvent; keeping informed of the charity’s activities and financial position;
·Avoid undertaking activities that might place the charity’s property, funds, assets or reputation at undue risk.
Each Trustee is required to act reasonably and prudently in all matters relating to the charity and must always bear the interests of WCA in mind.
Section 72(1) of the Charities Act 1993 disqualifies anyone who:
·Has been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty unless the conviction is spent.
·Is an un-discharged bankrupt.
·Has previously been removed from trusteeship of a charity by the court or the Charity Commissioners.
·Is under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.
It is an offence to serve as a charity trustee while disqualified unless the Charity Commission has given a waiver under section 72(4) of the Charities Act 1993.
Accountability:
The law imposes a duty of care on Trustees to act responsibly and prudently in all matters relating to their charity and to act in the best interests of the charity.
WCA is a registered Charity and Company Limited by guarantee and Trustees are therefore accountable to the members, the Charity Commission, and to Companies House (as company directors).
Suitability as a WCA Trustee will include many of the following:
·Commitment to Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA).
·Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort.
·Availability to attend meetings regularly.
·Strategic vision.
·Good, independent judgement.
·Ability to think creatively.
·Willingness to participate actively in discussions, listening to others and con- tributing accordingly.
·To use professional experience and any technical skills and knowledge to contribute to Trustee decision making.
·Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
·Ambassadorial ability and willingness to represent WCA in a range of situations.
·Experience of involvement in community or residents’ groups and/or in building community involvement.
·Commercial awareness including, but not limited to: marketing, branding, fundraising and social media.
·Skills and experience within finance or communications.
·Valuing diversity, with experience and/or knowledge of minority issues and perspectives.
·Capacity to pursue potential sources of charitable investment in WCA.
·Willingness to take part in training and learn new skills
