London-based housing and homelessness charity, Fresh Horizons CNB, are seeking a new Treasurer to provide financial experience to their Trustee board.
Fresh Horizons CNB offers a safe and stable living environment for those who are on the journey back to independent living. We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board.
What will you be doing?
In addition to the Trustee duties, the Treasurer will also:
- Oversee the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees.
- Ensure that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
- Ensure that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost-management.
- Monitor and advise on the financial viability of the charity.
- Oversee the financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with the CEO.
Time Commitment
- The Board meets 4 times a year, meetings usually last for 2 hours.
- There are 4 other meetings a year, which usually last for 1 hour. These meetings are a chance to catch up on how things are going and complete any relevant training.
- Most meetings are held remotely.
- One away day per year.

What we are looking for
Ø A finance professional with extensive experience and a background in finance and accounting. A knowledge of charity finance is an advantage. Otherwise, an enthusiasm to learn, drawing from sound commercial experience and an understanding of SMEs.

Ø Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect South Kent Mind’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.

Trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Treasurer/Trustee
Who we are:
We are a long-standing (32 years) local charity, based in Ashford, providing friendly advice, companionship and volunteering opportunities for anyone in our part of Kent who is socially isolated, lonely, or would welcome support with their mental health and wellbeing. We arrange 3 free drop-in sessions per week at Ashford Parish Rooms, at which our service users participate in a wide range of activities including crafts, singing and art therapy. We also offer food and beverages from our pop-up healthy eating café and dedicated door-to-door transport where required.
Due to a retirement we are now seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees.
About the Role:
The Treasurer will be responsible for making sure that the charity meets its financial and governance obligations by operating within the legal and fiscal guidelines set out in current legislation. They will ensure that robust financial controls and budgeting are in place to protect the best interests of the charity and its service users, and that the charity operates within a sound framework with all monetary transactions properly monitored and accounted for. They will make certain that all necessary financial information provided to the Board, Charity Commission and other appropriate parties is timely, comprehensive and accurate, and shall advise the Board of the commercial implications of its strategy and policy objectives.
It is expected that all Trustees will be able to attend our Trustee meetings in Ashford, which are held at least once a quarter, as well as the AGM and ideally a small number of other functions eg fundraising events.
Skills & Experience:

The Financial Management and Control Policy is kept up-to-date and implemented throughout the organisation.

Representation

The Board of Trustees is now seeking someone to give guidance and oversight to its financial management. The position of Honorary Treasurer is a voluntary one and is likely to require a time input of 6-8 hours per month. The role would suit an accountant who has retired or is working part-time.

We support our members with a competency framework and credentialing system, international engagement opportunities and product evaluation services for industry.
The Infection Prevention Society has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for governance and risk management functions of the society. These include developing long-term strategy, assuring financial stability and compliance with governing documents, and evaluating performance. The Board works with the Management Executive Group (MEG) who are responsible for leading and managing the business activity of the Society.

As a Trustee you will be able to contribute to the work of the society by:
· Shaping the strategic direction
· Making decisions that enhance its influence
· Assuring good governance of the Society
We are looking for applicants who really want to make a positive impact on our organisation. They should have strategic vision and good judgement, an ability to think creatively, and willingness to contribute opinions and ideas. A willingness to challenge is also desirable. An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship is desirable although Trustees induction and training would be available. Previous experience as a Trustee is also desirable but not essential. Although the trustee positions are unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The Board of Trustees hold a minimum of four meetings per year and trustees are also expected to attend the Annual General meeting which is held in the autumn.
The Audit and Finance Committee hold a minimum of four meetings per year. It is anticipated that where possible these meetings will be held virtually.

Oxfordshire Breastfeeding Support (OBS) is a small charity (a charitable incorporated organisation or CIO) providing free direct breastfeeding support to the families of Oxfordshire - via a mixture of virtual one to one appointments, in-person sessions, Zoom groups, a private Facebook group, antenatal workshops and work targeted at groups that are under-represented. Although founded as an independent charity in 2018, OBS’s work is a continuation of 12 years of breastfeeding support under the Baby Café umbrella. OBS is well known and respected in the community, with strong and valuable relationships with other service providers in the NHS, Local Authority and voluntary sectors. OBS is committed to being an actively anti-racist organisation, with a focus on social justice, equality, diversity and inclusion. OBS is seeking to recruit a trustee to act as treasurer of trustees for a period of 2-3 years. In addition to the responsibilities of a general trustee, treasurer of the trustees will:

Provide financial leadership to the board of trustees, offering valuable insights and recommendations on financial planning, budgeting, and investment decisions.

Oversee the development and implementation of the charity's financial policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Prepare and present financial reports at board meetings, providing clear and concise updates on the charity's financial performance and projections. This would include preparing an annual budget and monthly management accounts.

Monitor and assess the charity's financial health, identifying risks and opportunities and recommending appropriate actions. This would also include ensuring restricted funds are recorded and monitored appropriately to ensure than any grant terms are complied with

Ensure transparency and accountability in financial matters, promoting ethical practices and adherence to financial policies.

Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Charity Commission regulations, and ensure timely completion of annual review

Support the fundraising team in financial planning for campaigns and initiatives, aligning financial resources with strategic objectives. This would also include assisting in the preparation of the financial information for grant applications and assisting with preparing reports at the end of the grant period to show compliance with financial restrictions of any grants

Keep abreast of financial trends, legal requirements, and best practices in the charity sector, sharing relevant insights with the board and staff

As a new startup youth charity in London, we need the guidance, help and support from a volunteer with UK accounting or financial experience who is driven, proactive, solution focused and able to help provide governance and strategic direction, as well as financial mangement and controls to our brand new youth charity as our Treasurer on our Board of Trustees. We are seeking a Treasurer to dedicate a few hours each month to be a guiding force and exemplary leader at REMIX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and maintain accurate financial records and financial mangement systems, and prepare monthly financial statements and financial documents.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial planning with the whole Board of Trustees.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards set out by law and legislation, following good practice standards set out by the Charity Commission and HMRC.
- Support fundraising initiatives and manage financial transactions, including being a key signatory on our bank account.
- Other duties and responsibilities required by a Treasurer of a small charity.
