What your role will involve
There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public
- Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
- Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
- Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Can you spare a few hours a week to support the patients and staff at one of London's busiest hospitals? If so the Friends of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital needs you!
The Friends of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital charity has been working since 1993 to improve the hospital experience for patients and staff. We believe the little things can make a big difference.
We are looking for volunteers to take our Shop Trolley round the wards offering drinks, snacks, newspapers, toiletries and other items to patients. This role can really brighten the day for patients who may not have many visitors, or who are unable to leave their ward to purchase items to make their stay in hospital more pleasant. You will be joining a small, friendly team providing a really valuable and popular service.
Role Description
- Collect the Friends Shop trolley from the shop store room at start of shift and ensure it is fully stocked
- Take the trolley round the wards to allow patients to buy snacks, drinks, toiletries and other items
- Take payment by card or in cash
- Return trolley at end of shift along with the card machine and any takings
- Report takings to Shop Manager
- Report any issues or concerns to Friends Charity Manager
Specification
Essential
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to at least one 3-hour slot (around 9.30 to 12.30 or 1.30 to 4.30) once a week
- Able to make a long-term commitment to volunteering
- Trustworthy

Desirable
- Previous experience in retail or a similar voluntary role
- Previous experience in operating a contactless card machine
Full training will be provided. Volunteers report to the Friends Charity Manager, but are also required to comply with all requirements of the hospital’s own volunteering department, including undergoing a DBS check, an Occupational Health screening and an online ‘core training’ session. We will take up references on all successful applicants.
Please note that this is quite a physically demanding role and will not suit those with mobility issues or who have difficulty moving and handling heavy items.

What is the purpose of this role?
The Sutton in Ashfield Shop is part of the commercial / Income generation team.
This role is to support the work of the staff to maximise the income generated from the donations which provides the Charity with vital funds to run our services. The role involves volunteering both in the back shop behind the scenes and in the shop itself.
What impact does this role have?
This role helps the shop to run efficiently and effectively, and to sell products for Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, which in turn, generates funds to allow Age UK Notts to continue to run effective services for older people.
What activities might you be involved in?
Front of shop
- Engaging with our customers, in a friendly and welcoming way
- Ensuring customers experience excellent customer service
- Maintaining the look of the shop displays so that customers have a positive shopping experience
- Restocking shelves and rails as and when needed
- Maintaining a tidy clean and safe shopping / working environment
- Following appropriate till training, taking and processing payments from customers (including card payments).
- Signposting clients to our Connect Service
- Promoting Advantage Mobility products and services
- Accepting donations from supporters that visit the shop and encouraging those who are tax payers to sign up to Gift Aid in order to generate a further 25p in every £1 for the Charity.
Back Shop
- Accepting donations and ensuring that donations that have been Gift Aided are separated and clearly labelled with the correct Gift Aid number
- Sorting through donations to identify:
- items that can be sold in the shop,
- items that can be ragged or sold as scrap and
- items of higher value that need to be sold on elsewhere
- Labelling all saleable items with price tags and if appropriate Gift Aid numbers
- Steaming items of clothing and placing on appropriate hanger in preparation for sale
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Use of the internet to share shop stock on Social Media.
- Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct

We’re recruiting a Treasurer to provide strategic leadership over our continued financial growth to support our ambitious new strategy to be launched in 2025.
We’re seeking a Treasurer to join our board of trustees and work with our CEO to ensure the financial stability and growth of Camcycle. You will be a committed and enthusiastic supporter of cycling in and around Cambridge and a member of Camcycle. This does not mean you need to cycle very far, very often or indeed at all, but rather that you understand the benefits large-scale everyday cycling can have for our society and environment. (If you are not currently a member you can join in advance of submitting your trustee nomination form).
Ideally, you will have a formal accountancy qualification and/or practical experience with charity finances. You will also understand the dynamics of a small high-performance organisation, and be able to work with a variety of stakeholders including staff, other trustees, volunteers, members, donors and other partners. Our Treasurer will not be expected to get involved in day-to-day financial operations.

Who we are and what we do
Camcycle (Cambridge Cycling Campaign) is a high-profile and influential local charity working for more, better and safer cycling, for all ages and abilities, in and around the Cambridge region, where half the population cycles at least once a week. We are democratic and member-led, with over 1,700 members and many volunteers.
Our funding is derived from membership subscriptions, donations, grants from grant-making bodies, corporate partnerships, advertising and merchandise sales. We have five permanent members of staff, periodic interns and freelancers and many active volunteers including our board of trustees. In 2025/2026 we expect to complete our transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Our Finance Subcommittee of trustees and staff oversees the financial processes and operations of the organisation. Our CEO and Finance Assistant run our day-to-day finances and we have plans to add a Finance Director or similar role to the team in the near future.
Camcycle’s work includes:
- Responding to planning applications and public consultations.
- Organising events including our Cambridge Festival of Cycling, the Reach Ride with 1,000 participants, stalls at community events, workplace information sessions and campaigning meetings.
- Publication of print and digital cycling advocacy materials including leaflets for students, our quarterly magazine and blogs and social media posts.
- Making representations to the media and public bodies such as the council in the interest of a wide diversity of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities who are cycling for general transport purposes in the greater Cambridge region.

We are looking for people to cover all areas of our shops including:
- Working on the till
- Sorting and steaming donations
- Styling and merchandising the shop floor
- Listing items on eBay, Vinted and other digital platforms
Our shops are a large source of income for The Fertility Foundation and the heart of our shops is the volunteers that give up their time to help run the shops. The Fertility Foundation uses the income to provide grants for couples and individuals in the UK to help them start a family.
We are looking for volunteers for our Waltham Cross shop.
TASKS
To welcome, assist and serve our customers in a warm and friendly way providing a good standard of customer service. To ensure Gift Aid is explained clearly and promoted to all our donors and thanking them for their valuable contribution. To promote public understanding of our work and the importance of raising funds, promoting our charity events and activities to the public. Help sort, steam, hang and display our donated stock and rotate the stock following the manager’s guidelines. Dealing with customer purchases, confidently process the cash handling and accurate operation of the till.
SKILLS & QUALITIES
Be a Honest, trustworthy and respectful with an enthusiastic positive attitude. Have good communication and numeracy skills. to be a reliable, commited, dependable and flexible. Able to work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative.

The Fertility Foundation aims to continue being the leading patient charity across the UK in the provision of IVF funding and support network for those facing fertility challenges at all stages of their journey, providing authoritative information as well as practical and emotional support.
Around 1 in 7 couples today have trouble conceiving, which equates to 3.5 million people in the UK. The prospect of facing any kind of fertility problem is very distressing to live with and many people believe that no one else really understands. For many struggling to conceive being denied access to NHS funding means their hopes of starting a family can seem impossible. We aim to help them navigate this journey through introductions to our support network, assistance with dealing the CCG’s, working on their behalf with clinics and ultimately providing funding.
We understand the assistance needed on an individual’s journey is as unique as they are. We setup The Fertility Foundation based on our overwhelming desire to help as many people as we can to either start or extend their family.

Our charity shops play an important part in providing financial income for the Sheffield Animal Shelter to assist with the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals within our Branch area. A friendly, confident approach is desirable as is previous retail knowledge. We are currently looking for volunteers who can commit to hours or days to suit you. Our boutique shops raise vital funds for Save the Children. Your knowledge of fashion, designer items and your local networks can bring in even more donations, helping to raise even more money for Save the Children’s work in the UK and around the world.
What you will be doing
