Fundraising Volunteer - Events
We're looking for friendly and enthusiastic people to support us at fundraising events throughout the UK.
Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity and membership association for limbless serving and ex-service men and women and their dependants.
We help all wounded servicemen and women who have lost limbs, the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.
We are looking for Volunteers to help the Fundraising Team at in person fundraising and awareness raising events throughout the UK. We’re a small and friendly team, operating at a regional and national level. We organise Blesma events and collections, attend third party events and support fundraisers doing their own events.
By volunteering with us, you will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of volunteering for a charity and will contribute to our work supporting injured veterans and their families.
Location: Multiple, throughout UK

Why we need you
When a child is diagnosed with cancer it threatens everything, for them and their family. At a time when they should be busy being children, enjoying their rollercoaster teenage years or finding their feet at university, life becomes full of fear. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, of overwhelming money worries, mental health stretched to breaking point, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we get that. We are the charity that helps children and young people (0-25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.
The Young Lives vs Cancer team work in the Royal Marsden Hospital supporting children and young people with cancer and their families including post bereavement support. We carry out events through the year to provide opportunities for support and to meet their peers. These events are really valuable to our families, however they take a lot of organising. That’s where you come in. Could you give up to 4 hours a week, with some flexibility, to coordinate our events, this would include, researching locations, inviting families, attending events to set up space and welcome attendees and supporting to ensure events run smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be working directly with our families who are known to the Young Lives vs Cancer Service at the Royal Marsden Hospital along with partner organisations to organize and ensure smooth running of events.
Your role will be both coordinating and organizing in advance of the event and attending on the day to provide support.
About you

You’ll need to be well organised in managing information and communicating with different audiences. You’ll be computer literate – basic Excel, Word and MS Teams knowledge (not expert!).

You’ll need to be confident in approaching conversations with new people, good listening and confident communication skills – you’ll be empathic and compassionate and able to hold challenging and sometimes emotionally-charged conversations.

You’ll have strong relationship management skills, the ability to make people you are talking to feel at ease and supported, with the intuition to capture relevant and/or important information that may need passing onto Social Workers/Volunteer Manager

You’ll understand and be able to manage your own boundaries and be able to adhere to confidentiality requirements

You’ll have the ability to look after your wellbeing and seek support when needed.

Your availability
This is a new role so we are looking at how we can make it work for everyone, we estimate up to 4 hours a week, but please do keep in mind:

Dates need to flexible, and you would likely be busier in the run up to an event but with weeks off between events.
We ask for a minimum 12-month commitment (with understanding that circumstances change) with the hope you want to stay longer.

As a Fundraising Volunteer – Campaigns & Events at The Mulberry Centre, you will play a vital role in supporting our fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives aimed at providing essential services to individuals affected by cancer. You will work closely with our Supporter Engagement Lead and our Fundraising & Engagement Team to assist hands on with our in-house fundraising efforts and provide support to individuals undertaking challenges and events on behalf of The Mulberry Centre, seeing defined projects through from start to finish.
Time Commitment – A regular commitment of 2 days a week (Majority of which would be office based) for a minimum of 6 months or longer term.
Main Duties
To work within an agreed brief with the support of the Supporter Engagement Lead on the following:
· Fundraising Campaign Support: Assisting with the planning, execution and evaluation of fundraising campaigns, including online and offline initiatives.
· Event Support: Helping to organise and facilitate fundraising events, ensuring smooth execution and maximum engagement from participants and supporters.
· Individual Support: Helping the Supporter Engagement Lead provide guidance and encouragement to individuals undertaking challenges and events in support of The Mulberry Centre, offering assistance in fundraising strategies and goal setting using the fundraising pack.
· Marketing and Advertising: Utilising transferable skills in marketing and advertising to promote fundraising campaigns and events, both online and offline, to maximize reach and participation.
· Community Engagement: Researching and engaging with the local community, small businesses, and organisations to foster partnerships and support for fundraising efforts.
· Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of fundraising activities, donations, and participant information, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
· Correspondence: Drafting accurate, well-structured emails, letters and reports with agreed key messages and information.
· Any other duties appropriate for the role and adhering to The Mulberry Centre’s policies.
Volunteer Skills Specification:
· Ability to gain and share knowledge of what The Mulberry Centre offers to people affected by cancer and inspire others to support us.
· Passion for supporting individuals affected by cancer and commitment to The Mulberry Centre's mission.
· Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· Previous experience of running fundraising campaigns/events or experience of marketing, advertising, or charity work, with the ability to apply transferable skills to fundraising initiatives, is desirable.
· Strong admin, IT, organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
· Confident and able to work on one’s own initiative but within an agreed brief as part of a team.
· Reliable and dependable, with a willingness to commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering 2 days per week with The Mulberry Centre.

We're on the lookout for passionate volunteers to join us at one of our events. As a volunteer on the day you’ll be part of an amazing atmosphere and will support Mencap to make change through raising funds or engaging with your local community.
The Great North Run is the biggest half marathon in the world with over 50,000 runners taking part. Mencap has runners who have signed up to run and fundraise for us. We need you to come to our cheer point to give our runners big cheers and high fives on Sunday 8th September. We need volunteers to arrive by 10am and we will be finished by 3pm.We will send you more details about how to get there nearer the time. We will also provide you with snacks and water and a Mencap t-shirt.
Our community and fundraising events are vital to Mencap, bringing people together to share experiences, launch programmes and celebrate successes! They also often help to raise funds for our services, such as the Mencap Direct helpline, advocacy services, and national campaigns such as Treat me Well.
We hold lots of events throughout the year, including bike rides and runs from 10km all the way up to Marathons. We also do bucket collections, garden parties, Christmas wrapping sessions, and lots more!
We couldn't run these events without the support of volunteers, so by giving a few hours of your time you can help us to host events, raise vital funds to support Mencap's work and support people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives.

Purpose of the Role
This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.
The purpose of the current role is to assist in the development of a new wellbeing service aimed to support South Asian and BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) individuals within the community of Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow.
Main Responsibilities
This role involves working closely with service managers and the co-production coordinator to deliver an engaging and supportive wellbeing service tailored to the needs of the South Asian and BAME community.
This would include identifying appropriate locations to distribute posters and promote the service, assisting with the creation of digital content to promote the service both digitally and in-person, identifying an in-person location that could function as a community hub to host regular meetings, setting up the community hub on a regular basis prior to meetings, attending community meetings on a regular basis and having conversations with community members, and keeping up to date with important cultural events that can be used to promote the service and engage with the community e.g. Eid, Diwali, Vaisakhi, Black History Month etc.
Tasks
- Promoting the service to members of the South Asian and BAME community.
- Outreach work, visiting places of worship, events, and communal areas in the tri-borough to promote the project.
- Keeping up to date with online groups and forums that can be used to promote the service.
- Assisting in setting up a physical space to host regular Shakti Project group sessions, ensuring accessibility requirements of service users are upheld.
- Provide a listening ear to members of the community, flagging up any safeguarding concerns to your line manager.
We are looking for:
- A good listener with strong communication skills.
- Highly reliable and good time management skills.
- Open-minded and non-judgmental approach to having conversations around mental health.
- Good knowledge of mental health difficulties and mental health awareness.

About the role
After several years of relying on the efforts from our Co-Founders, Trustees and temporary volunteers we are looking to take the next step in our growth journey through the placement of our first volunteer recruiter.
This role will work closely with Daniele, ParaPride’s Co-founder and Community Engagement Director and the Board of Trustees to identify the skills and capacity required to run the organisation and sourcing candidates to meet them. It will also play a crucial role in developing Parapride’s volunteer benefits package and talent acquisition strategy.
We are expecting that the roles that this role will be involved in hiring will initially be focused on supporting ParaPride’s core operations (marketing, events and web development) but could include placements in finance, legal, compliance and HR in the future.
Duties

Collaborate with ParaPride’s Co-founder and Board of Trustees to identify and prioritise required skills to run the organisation effectively.

Develop a strategy for acquiring talent that is inclusive and accessible such that our LGBTQ+ disabled community are given full opportunity to be able to be involved. Provide feedback on practices and policies to support this.

Develop and review role descriptions for required roles and advertise across appropriate channels.

Screen and shortlist candidates as appropriate, coordinate interview loops and manage candidate communications.

Carry out pre-volunteering checks, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.

Support volunteer onboarding by coordination the execution of volunteer agreements and creating onboarding plans.

In partnership with marketing team members, develop content to share across web and social channels to promote benefits and opportunities for potential candidates to get involved.

What is a Serving Community Team Engagement and Events Coordinator?
There is a SSAFA presence throughout the serving community, both in the UK and overseas. In many areas SSAFA have Serving Community Teams that offer financial, practical, and emotional support to serving personnel and their families. Each team is formed of a group of dedicated volunteers who make this possible.
Engagement and Events Coordinators are essential members of the Serving Community Team. They lead the development and delivery of an effective local publicity plan to raise awareness of SSAFA to potential beneficiaries, volunteers and funders in the serving community.
This role also has voting rights for the grant giving process.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of SSAFA. We have been involving volunteers in supporting the Armed Forces community for more than 130 years. Our beneficiaries come from all backgrounds and age groups and the number of people contacting us for help rises each year.
In order to keep providing help to those who need it most, we need Engagement and Events Coordinators who can raise awareness of SSAFA, and encourage people to seek or offer support.
What will you be doing?
Although every SSAFA Serving Community Team has different needs, below are the main activities of an Engagement and Events Coordinator:
- Planning and events: With the Serving Community Team, develop a publicity and events plan to raise SSAFA’s profile in the community.
- Engaging: Engage with the local community to publicise the Team’s work, events and fundraising initiatives where SSAFA is represented.
- Marketing: Identify and develop case studies and good news stories with support from Marketing and PR colleagues at SSAFA Central Office and liaise with them about any PR or press opportunities.
- Networking: Be the point of contact locally for engagement and events and develop and maintain networks with local stakeholders and media outlets, providing press releases, interviews and case studies.
- Coordinating and teamwork: Oversee and support the activities of Community Engagement Volunteers and the Digital Marketing Co-ordinator.
- Branding and publicity: With support from Marketing colleagues at Central Office maintain a stock of SSAFA branded publicity resources and copy to distribute locally.

What is a Serving Community Team Engagement and Events Coordinator?
There is a SSAFA presence throughout the serving community, both in the UK and overseas. In many areas SSAFA have Serving Community Teams that offer financial, practical, and emotional support to serving personnel and their families. Each team is formed of a group of dedicated volunteers who make this possible.
Engagement and Events Coordinators are essential members of the Serving Community Team. They lead the development and delivery of an effective local publicity plan to raise awareness of SSAFA to potential beneficiaries, volunteers and funders in the serving community.
This role also has voting rights for the grant giving process.

Pride is a celebration of the full rainbow spectrum of the diverse LGBTQ+ community, a chance to connect with community, and to stand up for the rights of all LGBTQ+ people. The responsibility of our pride team at the parade is to have fun! The Parade is your time to shine. There will be loads of eyes on you so engage with the spectators and shout loud ‘n’ proud about the work that akt does.
The role will consist of:
- meeting at the akt office, helping carry flags and banners to the parade
- wearing an akt t-shirt (this will be provided)
- being approachable and proactive if asked about the work that we do when engaging with walkers and spectators in the parade
- being reliable and punctual
- ensuring you are aware of the pace of the float/walkers in front of you and maintain 5 metres distance from them

Create our events calendar for 2022 in line with our purpose, including workshops, classes, talks, fairs, festivals and anything else you can think of!

Build and manage our events team

Build systems and processed to plan, execute and review all events

Report on plans and past events to the leadership team and trustee board

This role is all about people, and one of the incredible benefits of volunteering in any role in Scouts, but even more so as County Lead Volunteer, is the teams of people you get to work with. You will inherit an incredible team of dedicated people leading Scouting in Coventry, from District Lead Volunteers who manage Scouting on a local level, to the people delivering high quality training for our Scout Leaders. As County Lead Volunteer you get to inspire, motivate, shape and develop this team, building friendships and establishing a sense of camaraderie focused around our mission for young people.
