Job description

The Association of Anaesthetists (the Association) is the professional membership organisation for anaesthetists in the UK, Ireland, and across the globe. With over 10,000 members, our mission is to safeguard patients by educating, supporting, and inspiring every anaesthetist throughout their career, enabling them to provide the best care in every healthcare setting. Our four strategic priorities are Patient Care and Safety, Education and Research, Advocacy and Support, and Innovation and Growth.

We are seeking to appoint a lay member with expertise in research to join our Research and Innovation Committee.

The Association's research strategy is focused on patient safety, innovation, clinical outcomes, education and training, wellbeing, the environment and sustainability, audits and quality assurance/quality improvement projects that involve guideline implementation. The committee has oversight of the Association’s research funding awarded through the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA).

The lay member will contribute to the research strategy of the Association, offering their professional expertise and their independent perspective.
