We’re Foothold, and we’re looking for a new Honorary Treasurer.
Our Trustees play a big part in helping us to achieve our strategic objectives and meet the needs of those we’re committed to support: engineers and their families worldwide.
 

What will you be doing?

Our Trustees get together five times a year for a mixture of virtual and in-person meetings (four Board meetings and one training day with staff), as well as spending time before meetings reading the Board papers and preparing, totaling a commitment of 50–70 hours a year of their time.
They’re responsible for providing strategic direction and making key decisions to ensure we’re delivering on our objectives.
They serve on three Committees.

 

What are we looking for?

Financial and audit/risk experience (a recognised financial qualification is desirable) and strong knowledge of Statements of Recommended Practice, charity and company law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.
Experience gained as Trustee or Non-Executive Director in a similarly complex service-orientated  organisation.
Strong understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship.

They are seeking a Treasurer to join the Board and play a key role in ensuring effective financial management and governance. Candidates should be qualified finance professionals, ideally with knowledge of charity finance and a commitment to the organisation’s mission of justice, inclusion, and empowerment for migrant communities.

As Treasurer and Trustee, you will support the Board in fulfilling its financial responsibilities including advising on financial strategy, budgeting, and reserves policy; reviewing management accounts and annual reports; overseeing audit processes; and ensuring effective systems of financial control. You will also contribute to wider Board discussions, bringing financial insight to strategic planning and risk management.

The Board meets quarterly (alternating between online and in-person evening meetings in London), and Trustees typically devote around 1–2 days per month to their duties.

Our partner is an international development charity improving lives in Zambia through construction, training, and community projects. Since 2006 they have trained over 2,200 people in building skills and completed 58 schools, health clinics, and other community facilities, benefiting more than 400,000 people.

They are seeking an experienced finance professional to join their UK Board as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee. Working closely with counterparts in Zambia, the Treasurer will help ensure the charity’s financial integrity, sustainability, and compliance, providing strategic oversight and guidance on financial policy, risk, and reporting.

The Board meets four times per year, usually in London although remote attendance is possible. The expected time commitment is around 1–2 days per month, including additional time for Finance & Audit Committee duties which meets online.

Key Responsibilities

Transform is looking for a new Treasurer to join our board of Trustees!

Slough Foodbank, founded by two Slough churches (including Slough Baptist church) is seeking a Trustee with a strong Christian faith to serve as Treasurer Trustee.

We are part of Trussell, a UK-wide network of more than 1,300 food bank centres, working together to ensure people in crisis receive emergency food and support. Slough Foodbank operates six days per week and currently issues around 12,000 emergency food parcels each year. Overview of the role

Warrington Foodbank are seeking someone with financial experience to join the board as a trustee, who will be able to lead on financial matters, ensuring we meet our financial obligations and help us build a sound financial strategy as we move forward. This role involves leading on the financial affairs of the food bank and ensuring that they are conducted within the required legal, accounting, and good practice frameworks.

Responsibilities

As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the food bank and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable. It is also the responsibility of the treasurer to work in partnership with the chairperson and other trustees to ensure the financial viability and development of the organisation.

Key tasks:

• Work with a chartered accountant an opertions team to ensure smooth running of financial matters

• ensure the Board of Trustees fulfils its financial responsibilities

• ensure that the food bank has proper systems for budgeting, financial control, insurance and reporting 

• inform the trustee board members of the finances of the food bank by written report, at least on a quarterly basis ensuring that the board have a clear picture of the financial health of the food bank

ensure that financial reports:

• are comprehensible and properly discussed at trustee board meetings

• are provided in the proper format and at the proper time, as required by the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales)

• have properly appointed auditors or independent examiners (on income over £25k)

• are reported on an annual basis at annual general meetings (AGMs).

Other responsibilities, along with the Board of Trustees, include:

• to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives 

• to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity

• to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity, responding to changes in the local community as appropriate

• to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and controlled appropriately

• To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated

• to review and approve financial statements 

• to help promote the organisation to key stakeholders and beneficiaries

• to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance/data protection

• to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.
