New Horizons are looking for a new Treasurer to join their dedicated and friendly Board of Trustees.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional to join a committed and experienced team. We are a small charity which makes a meaningful contribution to the community.
Being a trustee is also a chance for you to give something back to your community, by using your skills and experience, you will be contributing to the strategic management of the charity, so we can continue providing activities which promote good mental health, whilst challenging the stigma around mental health issues and helping improve our services for the benefit of the residents of Cwm Taf Morgannwg.
Role Summary
Your role is paramount for the sustainability of our charity. You will support our charity’s financial management and thus help us make well informed decisions and plan accordingly, so we can effectively tackle the different challenges we face as a small organisation.
The Treasurer will help trustees to carry out their financial responsibilities and this involves working with the Director and Chair to -
- present financial reports to the board in a format that helps the board understand the charity’s financial position
- advise the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities
- work with professional advisors including the accountant
- work with the Director, Chair and accountant to oversee the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts
- work with the Director to help prepare budgets and financial reports.
Who are we looking for?
- Demonstrated financial/commercial awareness and knowledge
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders
- Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement
- Competent use of IT skills
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

- Senior strategic management and leadership experience
Desirable:
- Dedicated to the organisation’s cause and objectives and willing to act as the charity’s ambassador to external bodies, charities and companies.
- An understanding of the UK charity sector, relevant legislations and statutory requirements.
Time commitment
Up to 5 hours a month. The Board meet every other month.The Treasurer would ideally step in as Chair of the Funding & Business Planning sub group which also meets bimonthly.

We're looking for a treasurer to join our scaling charity! Our Trustees:
Our board of trustees is essential to Alike’s mission. Working as a team, they take shared responsibility for maintaining alignment between our vision, strategy and day-to-day operations. Your Responsibilities:
Joining our board of trustees is a commitment to Alike’s mission as well as our products. We need our trustees to not just believe in our potential, but to authentically champion it. Our ideal treasurer can clearly envision Alike taking a leading role in combating isolation in the cancer community - and in making a lasting, positive change. We’re looking for an active, engaged and experienced individual to join our existing board during this thrilling period of growth and innovation.
Beyond that, you would be required to collaborate on certain statutory duties (listed below), and to provide advice and guidance throughout Alike’s new initiatives. The power of our board lies in a diversity of viewpoints, so your unique combination of specialist knowledge, skills and experiences is key to success in this role.
We would expect you to contribute this set of skills to the board’s shared responsibility: making sound decisions for the charity’s direction. This would include - but by no means be limited to - scrutinising board papers, leading meetings, chairing discussions and taking an active role in board meetings.
Time Commitment:
- Regular board meetings (6 per year, 3 in-person meetings, 3 virtual)
- Additional time for sub-committee work and strategic planning
- Flexible availability for brief ad-hoc advisory calls or meetings
- Attendance at our Annual General Meeting in central London
Skills and Experience:
- An understanding of the challenges faced by those living with cancer and the impact of emerging technology in addressing these challenges
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style
- Excellent financial literacy evidenced by experience, qualifications or both!
- An understanding the financial landscape of the charity sector including grant management, trading subsidiaries (also known as ‘trading arms’) and the Charities Commission SORP
- Knowledge of and/ or experience of the annual reporting responsibilities of charities

We're looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join our valued Board of Trustees who will play a pivotal role in ensuring IPEM is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practice for charities. This is an exciting time to join IPEM, with an ambitious growth plan agreed for the next 5 years.
The Honorary Treasurer chairs the Institute’s Finance and Business Planning Committee (F&BP), four meetings/year, normally held on line and is also a Trustee and Director of IPEM, attending the Board of Trustees’ four meetings/year, normally 2 in York and 2 in London. We anticipate a commitment of 12 - 15 days per year with the meetings during the working day (9 - 5pm).

Charity Trustees
The Charities Act 1993 defined charity trustees as those responsible under the charity’s governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. This is the case regardless of the terminology used to describe the role. The trustee board at Oxfordshire Youth usually comprises up to twelve trustees, although there is no formal limit on the number of trustees, including the following roles:
● the Chair of the Board of Trustees
● the Deputy Chair and CEO Line-Manager
● the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Sub-Committee
● the Safeguarding Lead and Chair of the Safeguarding,Quality and Impact Sub-Committee the People and Development Lead and Staff Liaison Trustee
The Role of the Board
At its most fundamental the role of the trustee board is to receive assets from donors, safeguard them and apply them to the charitable purposes of Oxfordshire Youth. The trustee board must always act in the best interests of Oxfordshire Youth, exercising the same standard of duty of care that a prudent person would apply if looking after the affairs of someone for whom they have responsibility. Trustees are ultimately and legally responsible for everything Oxfordshire Youth does. Trustees fulfil this responsibility by agreeing the strategy, agreeing organisational policies and implementing appropriate monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure and evidence compliance. Trustees appoint the CEO and, on recommendation by the CEO, appoint the Senior Leadership Team to manage all operational matters and the operational team in line with the approved strategy, policies and control mechanisms.
Duties of a Trustee
The statutory duties of a trustee are:
● Ensure that Oxfordshire Youth complies with its Articles of Association, charity law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations
● Ensure that Oxfordshire Youth pursues its objects as defined in its Articles of Association
● Ensure Oxfordshire Youth applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects. For example, it must not spend money on activities which are not included in the objects, however worthwhile they may be
● Contribute actively to the board of trustees by giving firm strategic direction to Oxfordshire Youth, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
● Safeguard the good name and values of Oxfordshire Youth
● Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organization
● Ensure the financial stability of Oxfordshire Youth
● Protect and manage the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the organisation’s funds
● Appoint the Chief Executive Officer and monitor performance
In addition to the statutory duties listed above, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve leading discussions, identifying key issues, asking difficult questions and providing advice and guidance on new initiatives. Trustees must ensure that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
Treasurer Role Purpose
To provide high level oversight of the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
Key Responsibilities
● Attend bi-monthly Trustee meetings; chair bi-monthly Finance. Audit and Risk (FAR) Sub-committee meetings and report to the Board on financial matters. The first point of contact on the Board for any matters relating to Finance.
● Work with the Head of Finance, CEO, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee members and other Trustees to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
● Support fellow Trustees to be aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
● To have oversight of accounting policies, procedures, processes and record keeping including advising on best practice.
● Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
● Sign off annually on the organisation budget and annual accounts.
● Lead on appointing auditors
● Work with Finance Lead, EO, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee members and trustees to set the financial strategy for the organisation.
Time Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend an induction session at Oxfordshire Youth prior to their first board meeting. Trustees are expected to attend the six annual board meetings, five of which last approximately three hours (typically 6-9pm). One meeting is an annual strategic planning board away-day or residential held each year. Papers, proposals and reports are distributed one week in advance of meetings. The Treasurer will also Chair the FAR sub-committee sub-committee which means 6 times a year for 2 hours.
Trustee Role Boundaries
Trustees in a decision-making capacity:
● As a board of trustees
● As a sub-committee
● Chair - delegated authority by the board to make decisions between board meetings with quorum of three, where necessary
● CEO Line Manager - delegated authority by the board to make decisions between board meetings where necessary
Trustee roles outside of the above decision-making capacity:
Advisory role (i.e. offering advice in an area of expertise). In this capacity the Trustee is acting as Trustee but, as noted above, does not have decision-making capacity in their own right.
Volunteer role (i.e. participating in an operational working group). Here the Trustee is subject to the decision-making of the operational team-member who is in a position of authority. As a volunteer the Trustee is at liberty to withdraw.
Observer role (i.e. attending an OY workshop for young people or observing OY work). In this capacity they are acting as a Trustee but have no role beyond observing or information gathering for the purposes of strengthening their own understanding and / or board-level decision-making.
Champion role (i.e. spreading the message about the work of OY). In this capacity they are acting as a Trustee, helping to build the profile of the work of OY, with no decision making, but with the view of creating a positive image and sign-posting people to OY.
Who we are looking for
As a Treasurer, you will have:
● Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising and finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
● Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (as necessary).
● Good financial analysis skills.
● Experience of advising others on financial matters, and being prepared to challenge

Financial Integrity
The Honorary Treasurer leads the Board in protecting the financial integrity of Healthwatch Bucks by:

Support & Guidance
The Honorary Treasurer shares the duty of all Board Members to ensure effective policy making, strategic planning and monitoring of the performance of Healthwatch Bucks. Additionally, the Treasurer has specific responsibilities supporting the Chief Executive to ensure that:
● Financial planning processes are maintained and that available financial resources are appropriate to the aims of the organisation.
● Healthwatch Bucks has an effective strategy for generating and accounting for commissioned and donated income to achieve its objectives and manage its expenditure.
● The Board receives all necessary advice on the financial implications of strategic plans and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Chair finance committees in line with terms of reference and report findings/developments back to the Board of trustees.
- Advise on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans and oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process.
Time Commitment:
- The board meets a maximum of 4 times a year and the Treasurer is expected to be available for all meetings, in person or virtual – dates agreed in advance.
- The Treasurer will Chair the Finance Sub-Committee which meets on an ad hoc occasion.
- The Treasurer will be expected to carry out financial duties as outlined above throughout the year, specifically preparing the Annual Report & Accounts and reporting all financial activities to the Board.

The overall role of a treasurer is to:

The Neuroblastoma UK Board of Trustees is seeking a Treasurer. This role is vital in ensuring best practice and excellent record keeping across our financial and fundraising activities. It involves working closely with the rest of the board of between 8 and 12 Trustees to ensure the board has clarity on our financial position and availability of funds for our research grants. The role of the Treasurer

Hurst Farm Regeneration Limited, trading as Hurst Farm Wild Works, is a charitable community benefit society established in 2022.
We want to improve the lives and environment of people living on the Hurst Farm Estate in Matlock, Derbyshire. Local residents are working with us to achieve our mission through a range of practical outdoor activities including woodland management, a community garden, dry-stone walling and bee-keeping. Our volunteer programmes help to improve skills and wellbeing for local people. Our aim is to create financial sustainability through the delivery of viable social enterprises on Hurst Farm, which are owned and operated by local people.
We are working closely with Derbyshire Dales District Council on the delivery of the £1.2m National Lottery Heritage Fund funded Hurst Farm Heritage Trail project which is expected to run until the end of 2026. The project aims to improve the existing footpaths around the Hurst Farm Woodland, connecting four heritage sites.
We are being mentored by The Green Estate Community Interest Company, who are using their 25-year experience of building successful national social enterprises on the Manor Estate in Sheffield.
We now need to recruit additional trustees to strengthen the Society’s existing Board which is responsible for areas such as governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, risk management and delivery of the organisation's mission and values.

Introduction
CRRC is a registered charity with the primary object of supporting refugees and displaced persons in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire. The charity is lead by the Board of Trustees of which the Treasurer is an ex-officio member. (S)he is subject to the decisions of the Board.
The role
The Treasurer will hold the CRRC’s Trustees to account for the Charity’s finances and vision, maintain financial control and ensure we comply with our legal responsibilities as a Registered Charity. The Treasurer will work with all members of the team to ensure that there is a transparent and clear financial process. As Treasurer to the Charity, you will also become a Trustee. Trustees are expected to understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and understand their role as a Trustee.
The role is mainly online with occasional in person meetings in Cambridge. The expected hours will vary between 2 to 6 hours per week with a flexible working arrangement. The position is unpaid. Expenses incurred in undertaking the role will be reimbursed.
A competent treasurer or part-qualified bookkeeper or accountant would be ideal. Experience in the charity field is desirable but not essential.
Our bank is the Co-operative Bank. There is no branch in Cambridge, so all transactions are electronic or by post.
The duties of the Treasurer
- Budgets The Treasurer co-ordinates the production of an annual budget, in conjunction with Group leaders. Details are kept on excel spreadsheets.
- Financial Reports will be presented to the Board every quarter, setting out the income, expenditure and balance against budget at the end of each quarter. In addition to providing the Board with an overview of the financial position of CRRC, these reports should help the Board to understand trends and pressures and help the Board to understand how CRRC is using funds to support its objective.
- Financial records These are now only kept electronically, using excel spreadsheets. The existing spreadsheets have been set up by the present Treasurer, but could be modified if improvements are considered advantageous.
- Receipts are from various sources, as standing orders, bank transfers, cheques and through Kindlink, Paypal, CAF and payroll deductions. Cash is rarely used.
- Gift Aid The treasurer is responsible for making claims for Gift Aid and for keeping Gift Aid forms.
- Payments All payments must have signed off by a Trustee responsible for the budget heading. The vast majority are by bank transfer. Claims for payment are made on an electronic form to the Treasurer, who then sets up a bank transfer which is forwarded to the signatories for approval. This gives final authorisation for the bank transfer to take place. The Treasurer must check that the form is correctly filled in and the payment requested is in line with relevant e-mails and overall CRRC policy. A bank card is used for a limited number of specific payments. The number of payments varies each month. In 2022-23 there were 270 payments across the year.
- Restricted and designated funds In addition to the main CRRC fund, there are currently 3 restricted/designated funds. These funds use the same bank account, but its transactions are recorded separately.
- Annual accounts The Treasurer is responsible for producing annual accounts after the end of the financial year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June. These are then presented in draft to the Board before being submitted to an Independent Examiner. The Treasurer then passes the approved annual account summary to the relevant Trustee for submission to the Charity Commission (Annual report and financial accounts 2022.)

- Supporting volunteers The Treasurer is also responsible for informing volunteers about the process for payments, including through relevant updates to process documents, and may be required from time to time to contribute to updated guidance for volunteers.
Additional notes
The current treasurer will be training the new treasurer and will remain available to support the new treasurer. The main reason for the stepping back of the current treasurer is to make time for the current treasurer to drive and oversee important changes and adaptations to facilitate the financial management of CRRC and to be more closely involved in the overall governance of our charity.
CRRC intends to adopt a digital payments system in 2024-25, in order to streamline the payment process for CRRC’s volunteers, budget approvers, bank signatories, and for the Treasurer. CRRC is also exploring changing the bank account.
It is possible that the number of restricted/designated bank accounts may be reduced.
