As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers in the Horsham and district area
• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

The RSPB Cornwall group relaunched in September 2023 as RSPB Kernow Local Group after two years of dormancy. It's early days yet, but the group is hoping to continue the success of those previous years, bringing together all those who love nature, and fostering collaboration with the other great birdwatching groups in their wonderful county. They are aiming to arrange guided walks, many aimed at newcomers to birdwatching, throughout Cornwall all year round. Indoor meetings (talks) are also planned, predominantly within the Truro area for ease of accessibility. On top of that, a regular newsletter is being drafted to keep everyone in the loop, so watch this space! We now need someone to help look after the money - no experience necessary as full training is available!

RSPB Crawley & Horsham Local Group recently relaunched and the group is hoping to continue the success of those previous years, bringing together all those who love nature, and fostering collaboration with the other great birdwatching groups in the area. At Cats Protection we find thousands of perfect matches between people and cats every year. Our cat match volunteers provide the support, information and guidance needed to match the right person to the right feline friend.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Being part of a team that identifies suitable homes for cats in care
• Providing potential adopters with basic cat care information
• Completing homing questionnaires with potential adopters ‘virtually’, as well as face to face, which may involve visiting the homes of potential adopters
• Carrying out follow up communications if required
• Using online map searches to match cats and kittens to new homes

operational matters of TRAFFIC in line with good practice and ensuring that effective financial measures, controls and
procedures are in place, and are appropriate for the charity.

We are very open to where your experience may come from so long as you bring deep experience of financial
management and oversight, gained at leadership level with the ability to clearly communicate and explain financial
information to a range of audiences. Whatever sector your expertise has been gained in, you will have an excellent
understanding of good governance and financial management (ideally gained on the board of a not-for-profit and be a strategic thinker with the ability to probe and appropriately challenge both the Executive Team
and Board colleagues, deploying a collaborative approach and sound judgement.

Sitting within the RHS Learning division, as the RHS South East Programme Officer for the National Education Nature Park, you will work to enable  education settings and young people in the region to participate in Nature park programme. This will include:

- Reporting to the Senior Programme Officer (South East), you will work as part of a team to engage networks and school leads in the National Education Nature Park programme.  You will identify local sources of support, and through events and workshops, inspire and upskill key stakeholders to sustain schools and settings in their National Education Nature Park journey.

- Developing a deep understanding of the local context and support available for education settings within the region on environmental education, nature restoration, climate change, climate adaptation and green space access.

- You will be working with educators and young people from early years, primary, secondary and further education settings. Through informal learning opportunities and across a wide range of curriculum areas.

- Working with the multidisciplinary programme partnership to provide on the gorund insights and testing of programme elements

- Raise awareness of the RHS National Education Nature Park grant programme

About National Education Nature Park

National Education Nature Park is a partnership project led by the Natural History Museum, working with the Royal Horticultural Society, the Royal Society, Royal Geographical Society, Learning through Landscapes, Manchester Metropolitan University and additional supporting partners.

The National Education Nature Park will engage children, young people and their educators with nature, supporting young people in England to play a driving role in mapping and monitoring biodiversity on their grounds using citizen science and, critically, taking action to enhance it.

From creating pollinator friendly habitats where biodiversity can thrive, to digging ponds, or creating planting schemes that support climate resilience, the project will showcase what can be achieved on the Education estate. 

The Nature Park will also provide opportunities for young people to take part in community science, identifying local impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss and developing key skills to solve these problems.

Thousands of cats each year rely on the help of animal charities because they have been abandoned, they have strayed or because there has been a change in their owner’s circumstances. Becoming an administration volunteer is just one way you can help improve the lives of cats in your local community. Our admin volunteers help provide vital admin support to our volunteer groups and teams across Cats Protection. They help keep up to date records of the number of cats that have been rehomed, collate supporter details and send out newsletters. This could be the perfect volunteer role if you have administrative experience, a passion for cats, or both!

What can you expect to be doing?

• Recording relevant information related to your volunteer group
• Signposting enquiries to the relevant teams within Cats Protection
• Sending information to supporters, volunteers and to our National Cat Centre
• Distributing information leaflets if required

The Board is currently comprised of the Chair and seven other Trustees.  It meets five times each year in Banbury; one of these meetings includes the AGM.

Dogs For Good holds a variety of events and meetings for volunteers each year, and we encourage Trustees to attend one or two of these, where possible.

Trustees serve a fixed term of three years from the date of their appointment and, if qualified, are eligible for reappointment for a further two terms.  While this is an unpaid voluntary role, reasonable expenses will be paid.

Role Overview

We have a need for Frontend Engineers on 2 different teams works on products that ultimately support our core mission. You will play a crucial role in the development of either the public facing Bank.Green website or our internal Green Policy Evaluator (GPE).

GPE a cutting-edge project aimed at analyzing bank policies with the assistance of LLM technology, along with human oversight and review. This will allow us to rapidly expand our coverage of environmentally evaluated banks ultimate shown on our public website.

The Bank.Green website allows users to see how their current bank, and potential new alternative banks, rank on environmental issues - primarily fossil fuel and related sectors support. It also provides suggestions on how to talk to your current or potential future bank about your environmental concerns. It also hosts miscellaneous other public facing aspects of our organization supporting the primary mission of encouraging people to have their own money stop supporting fossil fuel related banks.

Commitment

This role is unpaid and volunteer-based. We are seeking a commitment of 10-20 hours per week. We are looking for somebody to come on long-term, for at least a 6 month commitment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the existing team of senior developers and UX/UI designer to enhance and maintain the Green Policy Evaluator.
• Develop robust frontend solutions connecting to Prismic and either Python Flask (GPE) or Django (bank.green website) backend.
• Design, implement, and optimize UI utilizing vue.js on nuxt.
• Ensure seamless integration of frontend components with backend systems.
• Participate in Agile development methodologies, including maintaining a Linear issue board and adhering to a loose SCRUM system.
• Contribute to code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Frontend Engineer, preferably in a mid to senior level capacity.
• Proficiency in JavaScript programming language.
• Familiarity with vue.js and nuxt.
• Interest in working asynchronously with colleagues in different time zones - through Slack, MS Teams, or similar.
• Experience working in Agile environments and using collaborative development tools (e.g., Linear or Jira, Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Passion for sustainability and environmental advocacy.

At WWT London Wetland Centre we want to ensure that our visitors receive a warm, friendly welcome to ensure they have a memorable visit. As a Guide in a Hide primarily in our Headley Hide, you will be the point of contact in engaging visitors of all ages and backgrounds, using your good knowledge to point out birds and wildlife of key interest and providing identification tips.

You’ll need to be equally at ease interacting with groups of children and families as you are talking to adult birders and photographers, inspiring everyone to support us as members of the WWT. You’ll also let us know of any new sightings and help us by undertaking some basic tasks to keep the hides presentable for our visitors.

This role involves:

• Providing a warm welcome to all visitors who come to the hides.
• Helping visitors locate and observe birds of interest birds and learn how to bird-watch: showing how to use the scopes and binoculars, and how to look for and distinguish bird features.
• Attending briefing sessions and familiarising yourself with events, activities, sightings and developments at the centre so that you can provide up-to-date information to our visitors and promote forthcoming events and activities
• Recording notable sightings on the Hide sightings board (or encourage visitors do it as part of an interactive experience) and notify the Reserve team or Duty Manager where appropriate.
• Helping keep a tidy hide (basic housekeeping - sweeping, litter-picking, wipe sills/seats, dust rafters to remove cobwebs) and report any damages.
• Topping up bird feeders as needed in the Headley Hide.
• Seasonally, being in cold spaces for periods of time, for which we will provide warm uniform, including coats.

This role will suit you if:

You have a positive, friendly, warm and friendly manner, are a good communicator and are committed to delivering excellent customer service to a wide variety of visitors, especially our younger and first-time visitors. You’ll have a real interest in and enthusiasm for WWT’s work, nature and the outdoors and can share this with others of all ages. You’ll have a good knowledge of UK bird species and other wetland wildlife to answer visitor questions, and be confident at using bird watching optical equipment, assisting visitors in doing so. Having your own telescope and binoculars would be useful, but is not essential.

You’ll be happy to undertake some basic maintenance and cleaning tasks to help maintain our high standards across the site. While we are close-working team, the ability to work flexibly in a team of staff and volunteers, and under your own initiative is also needed.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser. You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. Money raised by our volunteers enables us to put cats first. Cats are at the centre of all we do. We care for them, ensure their welfare, and help others to understand and better support them.

Time expectation

This role is very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.
