· Engage and Educate: Deliver fun, interactive sessions teaching first aid and life skills, boosting young people's confidence, teamwork, and self-discipline. 

· Support and Supervise: Help coordinate activities and sessions, ensuring all participants are safe and supervised. 

· Administrative Assistance: Support the Unit Manager with admin tasks, resource collection, and logistics. 

· Foster Inclusion: Encourage active participation and a safe environment, fostering a sense of belonging and community among young people.

Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.

We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals and Count Me In numeracy manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading skills. 

Shannon Trust is working with community partners to enhance our support to learners as they leave prison. This will enable them to continue learning on release and also to reach others in the community in touch with probation services or at risk of offending.

By becoming a reading coach, you will enable people to learn basic reading skills in a flexible way, so that day-to-day tasks like filling in forms or reading a bus timetable become easier.

We provide training for the role via e-learning and training sessions which are a mix of live, online and group training.

We’re looking for six Community Connectors over the age of 18 years old, based in Norfolk & Suffolk.

You’ll be volunteering approximately six hours per month. Dates and times are to be agreed upon with the volunteer.

The volunteers could be:

· Providing valuable support to our teams based within the region.

· Build relationships with people, and organisations to raise awareness of stroke and the Stroke Association.

· Engaging with your local community to represent the Stroke Association, this could include the delivery of presentations or talks either face-to-face or digitally.

· Sharing your knowledge and experience of stroke with others.

· Researching and gathering information relating to life after stroke services.

· Supporting the process of volunteer recruitment and training.

· Attending fundraising events, including donation collections.

*Whilst we would be delighted if you could perform all of these tasks, we will be happy to accept inquiries from you if you can provide suitable selective support.

You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to local service providers and community groups.  You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a world without barriers. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Giving talks to groups of people to raise awareness of sight loss in your local community by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local businesses, community and voluntary groups. 

• Delivering talks to raise awareness of RNIB services as a trusted source of support for blind and partially sighted people

• Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service

We are currently seeking a volunteer Personal Assistant/Office Manager. This role is ideal for an individual with experience as a P.A./Manager looking to work within the charity sector. 

Responsibilities typically include: 

• Acting as a first point of contact for enquiries: (email/calendar management and phone calls, managing diaries 

• Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence. 

• Miscellaneous tasks to support the CEO which will vary according to projects and tasks but could include fundraising, event planning, social media, community outreach, press & PR. 

• Managing databases and filing systems. 

• Implementing and maintaining procedures/policies & administrative systems 

• Forming a relationship with our clients as they are part of the community. 

Essential skills for this role are: 

• Organization skills: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and keep track of deadlines is crucial.  

• Communication skills: should be able to communicate effectively in writing. 

• Attention to detail: the ability to pick up on small details can prevent costly mistakes from occurring. 

• Problem-solving skills: the ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
