Marie Curie Companion is a professional service provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of the volunteers delivering the service.
Companion Volunteers provide companionship and emotional support, practical support, short breaks for carers and help with signposting for information and support. Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

Carry out weekly visits with the person(s) you’re supporting, as agreed with the Volunteer Co-ordinator. This could be in a variety of settings, eg family home, a care home or in the community.

Provide one-to-one companionship and support.
For example: offering a listening ear and spending time engaging in every-day conversation, activities or hobbies with the person you are supporting. Driving clients to pre-arranged health or social care (e.g. to medical appointments) or taking short trips out. Helping with small, daily tasks, e.g. making tea or accessing the internet. Allowing carers to have a short break. You may be supporting your client’s family or carers before or during bereavement. This may involve offering emotional support, signposting to relevant local support services or finding out information as requested (This is only an outline as support will vary according to individual needs. Companion volunteers do not provide nursing or personal care, or offer counselling or advice)

Keep your manager informed of any changes to the situation, or any significant happenings in connection to the person you’re supporting and/or their family, either in person or by phone

Submit regular visit reports to your manager and update relevant computer systems as required

Be reliable and committed to regularly spending time with someone and offering support

Attend individual sessions with your Volunteer Co-ordinator, training and group events as required

Represent the Marie Curie Companion service positively to those using the service

Would you like to support people who have served in the Armed Forces? You don’t need a military background, just some spare time occasionally, and an ability to get on with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups. If so, this could be the role for you.
What is a Helper?
SSAFA Helpers provide support to local SSAFA branches, so that the service to veterans and their families can run smoothly. Perhaps you could help out at an event, take care of some office admin, or give a talk about SSAFA?
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
We have peak times throughout the year when we need extra volunteers. Whether you enjoy organising behind the scenes or being out meeting the public, we need people who can offer some time on a flexible basis.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role will suit you if you are looking to volunteer on a flexible basis as and when you are available, and we need extra help. You may be based in an office, at home, or out and about at events.
What would you be doing?
- Helping at public events by staffing stalls, stewarding etc
- Helping to distribute Christmas hampers to clients.
- Giving talks about SSAFA to schools and local groups
- Helping with office tasks like stuffing envelopes, ordering marketing materials
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

As a Cultural Reforesting Volunteer, you will play a vital role in the development and support of the service’s Cultural Reforesting programme.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Involvement in the development of the programme internally and externally
- Long term development opportunity of our Study Gallery through a curated display of collection works
- Support of our social media platforms and website support, including content creation, proofreading, ideas and development. We would like to explore ideas such as podcasting and short form video content
- Contributing towards our Cultural Reforesting Explores programme, a volunteer led focus group, drawing upon your interests and experience
- Research into artists, exhibitions and organisations with themes and programmes that could collaborate or contribute towards the programme

Training and Support
We will provide training and an induction which covers all aspects of the role. On-going support and supervision will be provided by staff throughout your time with us. Additionally, there are regular training sessions to supplement and further your initial training, as well as a varied programme of volunteer events and activities to join in, meet people and learn something new!
We offer a tour of our exhibitions with the artist(s) or a member of staff prior to their opening. This will give you a first-hand insight into the concept, processes and artist’s vision behind the exhibition.

Availability

We ask for a minimum commitment of one shift every fortnight, although there is flexibility over scheduling.
Location
This role is primarily based remotely, although some activities and opportunities will take place at Orleans House Gallery or throughout the borough of Richmond.
Expenses
We will cover travel expenses up to £14 per day.

It Gets Better UK envisions a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals. We strive to tell the stories of LGBTQ+ people and to provide positive and reassuring messages to LGBTQ+ youth.
The It Gets Better Project was founded in 2010 in America. Since then, affiliated charities have been formed in over 20 different countries. We are now at the exciting stage of continue to grow and develop the UK affiliate having formally launched in October 2018.
Join our network of Regional Ambassadors to help promote It Gets Better UK, to inspire and engage with members of their local LGBTQ+ communities to get involved, and to help fundraise.
We're particularly looking for new Ambassadors in the Midlands at present - especially those who can help us have a presence at Pride events this summer. So far, we're planning to attend Walsall Pride on August 24th.
What will I be doing?

Raise awareness of It Gets Better UK and our work through talking to members of the LGBTQ+ community in your area, and on social media

Look after our information and fundraising stands at local events – most importantly, hosting an It Gets Better UK Pride stall in your local area. Members of the It Gets Better team will support you with sign-up admin and capacity on the day. So far, we're planning to attend Edinburgh Pride!

Support other members of the It Gets Better UK volunteer team to deliver events in their area by adding capacity where possible, and within a distance that suits you – for example, helping out at a Pride stall run by another Ambassador nearby.

Deliver talks to local LGBTQ+ groups, community groups, schools etc about the work of It Gets Better UK and how they could help us achieve our goals

What is the time commitment?
This is a flexible role and the times may vary, but we would expect you to spend at least two hours a week on your role. We ask Regional Ambassadors to be available for Pride events over the summer: this means some half/full day activities over the summer period, usually on Saturdays. You’ll be able to sign up for days which suit you. Regional Ambassadors are appointed for up to two years. Regional Ambassadors will have a monthly online meeting with their It Gets Better UK point of contact.

We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the Bradford and District Group. As our local group Activities Organiser you’ll play a crucial role in developing and planning activities and events with your local group. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills.
Time commitment

About Cruse
Cruse is Britain’s oldest and largest bereavement charity. In the Midlands, Cruse brings together more than 500 volunteers to helped support bereaved people, through a mix of individual and group sessions.
Cruse volunteers all pass through the same training process. Some volunteers are trained or trainee counsellors, whilst others have bereavement experience or put their listening skills to practice in helping people through their grief journey.
Cruse Worcestershire
The well-established Cruse branch of Worcestershire is seeking a Volunteer Chair. This active branch has 30 volunteers and can be supporting approximately 100 bereaved people at any one time. The volunteer team predominantly support service users via phone or Zoom, but does have outposts across the area. The team meet for regular forums and also hold in-person meetings, to socialise and cover learning topics specific to the work.
The role
The branch is looking for a Volunteer Chair. This role of Chair will be stimulating and call on your strategic and interpersonal skills.
It provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of volunteers and staff in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the people of Worcestershire.
The Chair provides a focal point for the branch, representing the volunteers and delivering a sense of cohesion to the volunteer group, championing their priorities and supporting key activities like learning, social events and fundraising.
The role is not remunerated. However, reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the role will be repaid.
Time Commitment
· The Branch Forum meets approximately 8 times a year for 1.5 hours in the evening (7pm – 8.30pm).
· Monthly operations-focused meetings with the volunteer administrators/part-time staff approx. every 6 weeks.
· Ad hoc communication outside of formal meetings.
· Attendance of Cruse national meetings based on interest/focus
· 3 in-person group social/learning events each year

The new Chair will bring their passion and commitment to the bereaved people of Worcestershire. Your skills and experience will help us to empower our volunteers to continue to provide excellent support for grieving people
We are interested in an individual who brings the following:
· Ideally the Chair will be local and have networks in Worcestershire.
· Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.
· Have some experience of personal loss.
· Strong inter-personal, networking and relationship building abilities.
· Previous Board experience, either within a charity or in a corporate setting.

Can you lead the way by helping to set up a new Wildlife Watch club for young people in your local area?
Help us engage the next generation in taking action for wildlife!. We are looking for people to help with our existing groups in Barrow, Cockermouth, Gosling Sikes (Carlisle), and Grange. We are also looking for a Watch leader and helpers for our Penrith group.
What is a Wildlife Watch Leader Volunteer?
Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trusts and is the UK's leading club for young environmentalists. Our local Wildlife Watch clubs across Cumbria run a varied programme of fun environmental and wildlife focused activities, aimed at 6–12 year-olds and their families.
As a Wildlife Watch Leader you will be a key player in Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s work with young people. You will have the opportunity to engage with a group of young people on a regular basis, to getting to know them and helping to shape their learning and understanding about the environment. This role can extremely rewarding for you.

What’s involved?
As a Wildlife Watch Leader you will:
• Publicise the presence of the group to local children, young people and their families
• Plan and organise a fun programme of activities throughout the year with, and for, the group, using themes relevant to Cumbria Wildlife Trust. You will deliver regular, hands on, informal outdoor activities, enabling young people to explore the wildlife around them more closely
• Adopt guidelines to assist you in running safe and enjoyable meetings. These include safeguarding, H&S, risk assessments and participation registration
• Promote Wildlife Watch and Cumbria Wildlife Trust, using templates and posters provided
• Keep in regular contact with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, young people and their families
• Support young people gaining Wildlife Watch awards, celebrating their activities and achievements
Who would suit this role?
This role will suit anyone interested in volunteering with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, who loves wildlife and wants to make a real difference in their local community. It would especially suit those who:
• Are keen and confident working with young people
• Have a natural enthusiasm for wildlife and nature of Cumbria (You DON’T need to be an expert)
• Are full of creative and fun activity ideas
• Are willing to learn how to organise and plan the leadership of safe sessions

• Enjoy working in an outdoor environment (in all weathers!)
This is a very flexible volunteer role. As a leader you can decide with your helpers how often - and when - you wish to run sessions
Volunteer handbook and Trust induction.
Health and safety and safeguarding training will be mandatory.Risk assessment, participant registration, Wildlife Watch templates, posters, email etc.. will all be provided
Volunteers are able to receive travel expenses of 0.45p per mile agreed in advanced with their staff contact.
First aid training will be provided for volunteer leaders.
The Trust will apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for volunteers undertaking this role because it involves working with children and young people or vulnerable adults.
In the second stage of the volunteer recruitment process, we will take up two references.

The world's first bricks-and-mortar museum dedicated to vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy are recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees.
As Treasurer, your responsibilities will be:
- Attend monthly Board meetings and an annual planning day
- Fundraising
- Fulfilling administrative, financial and legal requirements
- Willingness to familiarise yourself with the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
- Be a challenging advocate, as well as diligent and passionate about the mission and work of the Museum
The majority of responsibilities can be carried out remotely, although occasional in-person meetings in London are required and we encourage trustees to visit the museum and meet their fellow trustees and the wider team of staff and volunteers.
There is no need to have trustee experience to apply. However, an interest in the promotion of intersectional feminism is necessary. The Vagina Museum holds and promotes the values of equality, diversity and inclusivity and we are seeking trustees who would be ambassadors to these values. We particularly welcome applications from Black and Asian people, and people who are trans or identify as non-binary as they are underrepresented on the current board.

Marie Curie and Northern Health and Social Care Trust have joined together to offer a service to support people at the end of life.
Spending time with patients and/or their relatives, we’re looking for volunteers to provide emotional support, a listening ear, and to simply be there for patients with a palliative diagnosis and their loved ones.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Support patients in line with agreed boundaries and procedures
- Spend time listening and talking with patients, family, friends, and carers.
- Signpost families and friends to other services, as appropriate
- Write and submit, to the Volunteer Manager, a brief report on each visit.
- Keep the Service Manager informed of any changes of significant happenings in connection with the client, either in person or by telephone
- Be an active part of the team of Marie Curie Companions and the wider team of Antrim Area Hospital’s volunteers.
- Attend regular group support and development sessions for Marie Curie Companions
- Help with other related tasks when necessary.
