This is a strategic time to join the Board of TLM Great Britain (TLMGB). We have a strong and committed group of trustees who bring a wealth of experience and expertise but sadly some members have completed their tenure. Following a recent review, we are seeking to appoint a Chair Designate and new trustees with skills in the following expertise areas: fundraising, finance, digital marketing/communications or charity governance.
The Leprosy Mission is the world’s largest leprosy-focused organisation, a pioneer in our field, with over 150 years’ experience tackling this ancient disease. As a leading international Christian development organisation, we operate as a Global Fellowship comprising members from 30 countries. We work with people of all faiths and none to bring about the defeat of leprosy and transformation in the lives of people affected. TLMGB works in 9 countries across Africa and Asia. Trustees are individually and collectively responsible for leading the organisation and each trustee should be prepared to use their specific skills, knowledge, network and experience to help the Board reach sound decisions. In addition to scrutinising board papers, this may also involve leading discussions, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

We are flexible around your schedule. However, the following commitments are in place for volunteers:
- Attend monthly meetings to update on tasks, progress etc.
- Aim to attend all other planning meetings as necessary
- Attend all Hidayah Hub events in your respective region
- Attend other Hidayah events where geographically possible
- Add to and maintain the administration of our file-sharing system ‘Google Drive’ to ensure it’s up to date with clear records, templates and forms
- Check and respond to emails in a timely manner
- Contribute to the communications group (via Discord) and stay up to date with Hidayah developments
- Keep up to date with Hidayah communication and organisational developments

Charity Trustees
The Charities Act 1993 defined charity trustees as those responsible under the charity’s governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. This is the case regardless of the terminology used to describe the role. The trustee board at Oxfordshire Youth usually comprises up to twelve trustees, although there is no formal limit on the number of trustees, including the following roles:
● the Chair of the Board of Trustees
● the Deputy Chair and CEO Line-Manager
● the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Sub-Committee
● the Safeguarding Lead and Chair of the Safeguarding,Quality and Impact Sub-Committee the People and Development Lead and Staff Liaison Trustee
The Role of the Board
At its most fundamental the role of the trustee board is to receive assets from donors, safeguard them and apply them to the charitable purposes of Oxfordshire Youth. The trustee board must always act in the best interests of Oxfordshire Youth, exercising the same standard of duty of care that a prudent person would apply if looking after the affairs of someone for whom they have responsibility. Trustees are ultimately and legally responsible for everything Oxfordshire Youth does. Trustees fulfil this responsibility by agreeing the strategy, agreeing organisational policies and implementing appropriate monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure and evidence compliance. Trustees appoint the CEO and, on recommendation by the CEO, appoint the Senior Leadership Team to manage all operational matters and the operational team in line with the approved strategy, policies and control mechanisms.
Duties of a Trustee
The statutory duties of a trustee are:
● Ensure that Oxfordshire Youth complies with its Articles of Association, charity law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations
● Ensure that Oxfordshire Youth pursues its objects as defined in its Articles of Association
● Ensure Oxfordshire Youth applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects. For example, it must not spend money on activities which are not included in the objects, however worthwhile they may be
● Contribute actively to the board of trustees by giving firm strategic direction to Oxfordshire Youth, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
● Safeguard the good name and values of Oxfordshire Youth
● Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organization
● Ensure the financial stability of Oxfordshire Youth
● Protect and manage the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the organisation’s funds
● Appoint the Chief Executive Officer and monitor performance
In addition to the statutory duties listed above, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve leading discussions, identifying key issues, asking difficult questions and providing advice and guidance on new initiatives. Trustees must ensure that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
Treasurer Role Purpose
To provide high level oversight of the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
Key Responsibilities
● Attend bi-monthly Trustee meetings; chair bi-monthly Finance. Audit and Risk (FAR) Sub-committee meetings and report to the Board on financial matters. The first point of contact on the Board for any matters relating to Finance.
● Work with the Head of Finance, CEO, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee members and other Trustees to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
● Support fellow Trustees to be aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
● To have oversight of accounting policies, procedures, processes and record keeping including advising on best practice.
● Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
● Sign off annually on the organisation budget and annual accounts.
● Lead on appointing auditors
● Work with Finance Lead, EO, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee members and trustees to set the financial strategy for the organisation.
Time Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend an induction session at Oxfordshire Youth prior to their first board meeting. Trustees are expected to attend the six annual board meetings, five of which last approximately three hours (typically 6-9pm). One meeting is an annual strategic planning board away-day or residential held each year. Papers, proposals and reports are distributed one week in advance of meetings. The Treasurer will also Chair the FAR sub-committee sub-committee which means 6 times a year for 2 hours.
Trustee Role Boundaries
Trustees in a decision-making capacity:
● As a board of trustees
● As a sub-committee
● Chair - delegated authority by the board to make decisions between board meetings with quorum of three, where necessary
● CEO Line Manager - delegated authority by the board to make decisions between board meetings where necessary
Trustee roles outside of the above decision-making capacity:
Advisory role (i.e. offering advice in an area of expertise). In this capacity the Trustee is acting as Trustee but, as noted above, does not have decision-making capacity in their own right.
Volunteer role (i.e. participating in an operational working group). Here the Trustee is subject to the decision-making of the operational team-member who is in a position of authority. As a volunteer the Trustee is at liberty to withdraw.
Observer role (i.e. attending an OY workshop for young people or observing OY work). In this capacity they are acting as a Trustee but have no role beyond observing or information gathering for the purposes of strengthening their own understanding and / or board-level decision-making.
Champion role (i.e. spreading the message about the work of OY). In this capacity they are acting as a Trustee, helping to build the profile of the work of OY, with no decision making, but with the view of creating a positive image and sign-posting people to OY.
Who we are looking for
As a Treasurer, you will have:
● Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising and finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
● Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (as necessary).
● Good financial analysis skills.
● Experience of advising others on financial matters, and being prepared to challenge
Each trustee should have:
● A commitment to the mission of Oxfordshire Youth

Together the Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance and management of the Charity, including regulatory compliance. However, the Company Secretary is expected to lead on all aspects of the charities adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, that includes submission of documentation to the appropriate body.

We are looking for an experience finance professional to strengthen our financial systems, improve the efficiency of accounting procedures and administration to best inform strategic planning at CPRE London.

- Manage and improve processes for managing CPRE London’s finances, including:

Skills and experience

Purpose of role:
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA).
Scope and Objectives:
Trustees have a duty individually and collectively to:
·Determine the overall direction and development of WCA through good governance and clear strategic planning.
·Ensure that WCA pursues the objectives defined in its governing documents, and complies with charity law, company law, employment legislation, and with all other relevant legislation, constantly striving for best practice in governance.
·Uphold the financial responsibilities invested in their position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in WCA.
·Ensure that WCA uses its resources in pursuit of its charitable objects.
Main duties:
·To contribute actively to the Board’s role in providing direction for WCA, in setting overall policy and in maintaining a framework of good governance and accountability, and in evaluating performance against agreed targets.
·To give clear direction, leadership, guidance, and advice to the WCA director and staff.
·To safeguard the good name and values of WCA and to act as an ambassador for the organisation.
·To provide vision, inspiration, and support to the WCA director and staff.
·To ensure the effective and efficient administration of WCA.
·To ensure the financial stability of WCA.
·To appoint the director and monitor his/her performance.
·To use specific skills, knowledge, or experience to help the Board of Trustees to reach sound decisions.

Duty of Care:
Each Trustee will:
·Apply reasonable care and skills as a Trustee, using their knowledge and experience to ensure that WCA is well run and efficient;
·Be ready to consider the need for external professional advice on matters where there may be material risk to the charity, or where the Trustees may be in breach of their duties;
·Safeguard the good name and values of WCA.
·Maintain absolute confidentiality about sensitive information received in the course of responsibilities as a Trustee.
Each Trustee will:
·Ensure that the charity is and will remain solvent; keeping informed of the charity’s activities and financial position;
·Avoid undertaking activities that might place the charity’s property, funds, assets or reputation at undue risk.
Each Trustee is required to act reasonably and prudently in all matters relating to the charity and must always bear the interests of WCA in mind.
Section 72(1) of the Charities Act 1993 disqualifies anyone who:
·Has been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty unless the conviction is spent.
·Is an un-discharged bankrupt.
·Has previously been removed from trusteeship of a charity by the court or the Charity Commissioners.
·Is under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.
It is an offence to serve as a charity trustee while disqualified unless the Charity Commission has given a waiver under section 72(4) of the Charities Act 1993.
Accountability:
The law imposes a duty of care on Trustees to act responsibly and prudently in all matters relating to their charity and to act in the best interests of the charity.
WCA is a registered Charity and Company Limited by guarantee and Trustees are therefore accountable to the members, the Charity Commission, and to Companies House (as company directors).

We're looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join our valued Board of Trustees who will play a pivotal role in ensuring IPEM is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practice for charities. This is an exciting time to join IPEM, with an ambitious growth plan agreed for the next 5 years.
The Honorary Treasurer chairs the Institute’s Finance and Business Planning Committee (F&BP), four meetings/year, normally held on line and is also a Trustee and Director of IPEM, attending the Board of Trustees’ four meetings/year, normally 2 in York and 2 in London. The Hon. Treasurer is a member ex officio of the Board of IPEM Enterprises Ltd, IPEM’s wholly owned trading subsidiary, which meets three times per year, usually by teleconference. The Hon Treasurer is also Chair of the IPEM Remuneration Committee which meets once a year by tele-conference.
We anticipate a commitment of 12 - 15 days per year with the meetings during the working day (9 - 5pm).
You do not need to be a member of IPEM, though it is essential you have either senior voluntary sector finance experience or you are a qualified accountant.

Overview of the role:
The Treasurer supports the Board with maintaining an overview of the charity’s financial affairs, as well as fulfilling the role of a Trustee/Board Director. The Treasurer assists the Chair and the CEO in ensuring that the board of trustees fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper financial governance of the charity; by ensuing effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are in place, reporting to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the Charity.
In addition to the above, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all trustees.
This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Our trustees service for a 3-year term of office with the potential for re-appointment for a further term to a maximum of 6 years.

To do this we need local branches and volunteers who can coordinate people, ensure the local population know about SSAFA and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Our branches support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about leadership, coordination, and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role requires an ongoing time commitment, usually about 2-3 days per month. In addition, you would need to organise and attend regular meetings throughout the year.
What would you be doing?
- Providing leadership to the Branch and ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations both directly, and through the Branch Secretary, other Branch Officers, and Divisional Officers.
- Providing support and guidance to volunteers in office holder roles, and support with recruitment of volunteers into these positions to ensure the sustainability of the branch.
- Ensuring the financial integrity of the Branch, including the appointment of Treasurers and a local fundraising programme to meet branch running costs.
- Ensuring that all data is processed and held in accordance with SSAFA’s data management policies.
- Monitoring volunteer numbers against the demand for support and working with other volunteers, regional and central office staff to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
- Ensuring that all volunteers are recruited, inducted, supported, and managed in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
- Building relationships with regional and central office staff, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA Service committees, local military establishments, prisons etc.
- Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising so that potential clients, volunteers, and supporters know how to contact the branch.
- Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
- Supporting any salaried branch staff and ensuring that their line management arrangements are working appropriately.
- Resolve any complaints that are suitable for local resolution in accordance with SSAFA’s Complaints Policy and procedures, referring upwards any that are not suitable for local resolution.
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

As a Branch Secretary, you would be in an essential volunteer role as the principal communications trustee managing and maintaining the administrative affairs of our branch. Using your expertise and skills, you will be able to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. We rescue and rehome around 200 animals each year and provide community help and support with animal welfare in all DA postcodes plus BR8 postcodes.
As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Secretary:
- To act as the primary contact point for all branch communications with the national Society, the branch committee and the branch membership.
- Arrange branch meetings, ensure accurate minutes are taken and distributed in accordance with branch rules.
- Ensure all branch committee decisions are implemented and actions completed.
- Arrange the branch AGM including the compilation and distribution of the annual report, nominations and agenda in line with the strict timetable laid down in the branch rules.
- Arrange the timely dissemination of the contents of all correspondence and literature received by the branch, ensuring availability to all committee members, and reply to all branch correspondence where necessary.
- Order and distribute RSPCA stationery, leaflets, posters and other fundraising and promotional material.
- Liaise with the Branch support specialist (BSS) and group chief inspector and notify them of all branch meetings.
- Advise the BSS of all changes to branch facilities, services and contact details.
- In the absence of the membership secretary, assume responsibility for the maintenance of the branch membership list.
- Submit recommendations for national Society awards to the BSS, in accordance with the wishes of the committee.
What we are looking for in a volunteer:
- Above all, we are looking for someone who is committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objectives and shares our passion for animal welfare.
- Specific skills such as finance, fundraising, project management, business experience, awareness of employment and/or charity legislation can be useful, but not essential.
- You will need to be able to work with people and have good interpersonal skills. You do not need to be an expert, although commitment, common sense, and the ability to be objective are vital.
- Be able to commit to 4 hours weekly.
