Offering your skills and time each month will give our fledgling organisation the boost it needs as we deliver our long-term strategy. Carers' Hub is an independent local charity based in Brixton. Our mission is to improve carers’ lives in Lambeth through quality services and community engagement. We achieve this through four core workstreams: raising awareness of carers, influencing local policy through community engagement activities, improving carer wellbeing and connecting carers to each other and to support and training opportunities through our services.

Caring for a loved one, family member, friend or neighbour, can have a significant impact on all aspects of a carer's own life. Our dedicated and passionate team work with carers to help overcome challenges around managing at home, finances, caring with confidence, education and employment, physical health and emotional wellbeing.

We would now like to add to our  Board and would like to hear from you if you are keen to offer your time and expertise to support us. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have skills in the following areas:

• Finance: accountancy, financial planning or budgets. 

• Safeguarding: experience of managing or overseeing safeguarding processes and practices. 

• Fundraising: writing applications or bids, or helping to raise funds

• Senior management experience in a charity

We are also keen to hear from you if you have personal experience of being a carer, although this is not essential for the role. 

Meetings take place at our offices, in person, in Brixton approximately once every two-three months.  They currently run from 4pm until 6pm and we value our Trustees being able to attend meetings in person.  It is hoped that you will be able to contribute your time to help develop pieces of work outside of meetings depending on your skill set and availability.

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.

Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

We’re looking for volunteers who are:

Volunteering in one of our Sense Shops will involve a variety of tasks that you can get involved with. These include:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Off the Record is a well-established and respected support agency for children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. Founded in 1994, OTR supports young people aged 11-25 in Croydon, Sutton and Merton.

What will you be doing?

We are currently looking for new Trustees with a fund-raising ability, legal expertise, financial expertise and with experience of working within the mental health field. 

Treasurer:

Fundraising and Bid Writing:

Note: this role is not suitable for a short-term work placement or apprenticeship

What are we looking for?

Person specification:

• Finance, clinical, legal and fundraising expertise with a minimum of three years of experience in the relevant field.
• Interest in mental health issues affecting children and young people and the communities where we operate.
• Commitment to the charity’s objectives, aims and values and willingness to devote time to carry out responsibilities.
• Strategic and forward-looking vision in relation to the charity’s objectives and aims.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for mental health advocacy and community well-being.

Your role as a Trustee is a key element for our strategic plans to come to fruition. Your skills and expertise will help Off the Record to continue providing its invaluable mental health services to the children and young people in our community and expand our services to reach those who need our support. 

What is in it for the volunteer? 

You will join a friendly and dynamic organisation, where the mental health of young people from our local area is at the heart of our mission. We are a well-established local organisation with a powerful reputation in this area. Your involvement as a Trustee will allow you to highlight your skills and experience for the benefit of vulnerable young adults and children. We will organise for you to attend a training workshop in Governance at the beginning of your time with us. 

Time commitment: 

The Board meets five times a year, collaborating with the Directors to oversee the strategic direction of the organisation as well as taking care of the Charity’s financial, legal and employment responsibilities. These in-person meetings are held in Croydon on Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:30. Additionally, trustees are encouraged to participate in two Charity days annually, held on Saturdays, where all staff get together (10:00 to 16:00 in April and October). 

Some ad-hoc communications via email/telephone/Teams as required i.e., working on specific projects related to the trustees’ area of expertise. We estimate that this could be 3 – 6 hours a month.

We are the leading UK charity for doctors, medical students and their families.  We are looking for two working doctors to join our trustee Board.Ideally applicants should have direct knowledge of the challenges currently facing the NHS.  As well as relevant experience within the medical profession, expertise in the areas of equality, diversity, and inclusion would also be of interest, and we encourage applicants from across the UK.

The Royal Medical Benevolent Fund provides support and advice to members of the medical profession and their dependents at times of crisis and serious need. We have made significant progress over the last few years growing our reach and increasing our impact.  As the medical profession continues to change, we want to build on our successes, and continue to meet new and emerging needs.  We are very fortunate to have a high profile and dedicated trustee board which includes senior representatives from across the medical profession, and we are looking for suitable candidates who can join the board to help provide strategic direction to the charity.
