This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Healthwatch Redbridge team as we advance to the next phase of our work.
The post holder will be highly organised and motivated with strong administrative and social media experience to support the team’s daily activities.
You will be part of a team that has a real say in developing health and social care services and liaises with senior professionals and clinicians to help deliver change for local people.
Main aims of the role:
• Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, HWR Board, Staff and Volunteers to develop print and digital communications and printed materials to support the work of Healthwatch and its outreach and engagement activities.
• Develop relationships with sector, national and local media
• Ensure a consistent brand and identity is maintained and support colleagues to ensure quality communications across all products and initiatives.
• Manage the HWR digital and print communications channels, such as enewsletters, social media and print newsletters. • Ensure and maintain the online/ Web presence of Healthwatch including Twitter and LinkedIn
• Secure local, regional and national press coverage of HWR work in a variety of publications.
• Support and sustain information, advice, and signposting services to ensure individuals are directed to appropriate health and social care services.
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusion by ensuring that communications are accessible to all segments of society.
• Publicise volunteer opportunities and their role in improving the delivery of health and social care services.
• Ensure compliance with Healthwatch England brand guidelines and protocols.
• Co-ordinate the design and production of press releases, information and promotional materials required by the team.
• Assist the CEO and the team with the production of reports as required.
• Review and monitor materials produced by other organisations and feedback areas of potential interest to the team.

About the role
As production editor, you’ll write, edit and proofread content for Sightsavers’ printed brochures, documents and reports, as well as oversee editorial content for other projects produced by the web, design and branding team, including animations, videos and training materials. You’ll be tasked with editing copy from a range of sources to ensure it adheres to Sightsavers’ style guide, brand voice and accessibility guidelines.
For this varied role, we’re looking for someone who has the confidence to turn complex source material into engaging, compelling content. You’ll need a keen eye for detail, an excellent grasp of the English language and first-rate editing skills: the role would suit candidates with experience of sub-editing and proofreading, preferably in a high-quality print publishing environment.

About You
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Producer, with strong climate credentials, to lead our small, dedicated production team. As the Executive Producer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial direction in close collaboration with the hosts; oversee the production process end-to-end, including acting as Producer on episodes; and ensure the podcast maintains its high standards of quality and impact. Working closely with the hosts, content creators, and other stakeholders, you will drive the strategic vision of the podcast and spearhead efforts to grow its audience and influence.
Given the size of the team, this is a hands-on role, combining storytelling and editorial excellence, alongside strong climate knowledge and a commitment to driving action and impact.

ENN’s portfolio includes projects specialising in Infant Feeding in Emergencies, Wasting and Stunting, Adolescent Nutrition and Management of small & nutritionally At-risk Infants under six months & their Mothers (MAMI), as well as our highly regarded international publication, Field Exchange (FEX).
Field Exchange (FEX) is ENN’s established online and print technical publication on nutrition and food security in emergencies and high burden contexts. The first edition was produced in 1996 in response to a demand by international agencies for a way to capture and rapidly ‘exchange’ humanitarian programming experiences, to share relevant research, evaluations, news and offer a platform for technical views. Field Exchange enables fast track publication of programming experiences of relevance to nutrition in emergencies and high burden contexts. We feature articles across sectors and from a range of contexts, from acute emergencies to fragile and conflict affected states. We include both original articles and summaries of relevant research. We welcome suggestions for articles to feature in Field Exchange at any time.

Purpose of the role
This role will provide oversight, coordinate and manage the editorial process of publishing Field Exchange that includes tracking ideas, soliciting and securing submissions of Field Exchange content, critically appraising potential content, discussing, brokering and supporting content development with authors, coordinating input from the Field Exchange Editorial Team, liaising with copy editors and designers and ensuring content deadlines are scheduled and are adhered to, as well as ensuring quality, relevant and timely curated content is produced and disseminated. This position will also take a lead role in implementing the Field Exchange Strategy 2024-2029.
Key Responsibilities
Content development
- Actively seek opportunities for FEX content across a broad range of technical areas, leveraging and developing internal and external contacts and networks.
- Seek and secure a spectrum of contributors, prioritising country stakeholder lead and co-authorship. And including Francophone representation (in collaboration with FEX francophone lead).
- Communicate with potential authors to explore opportunities for content and provide support and guidance in development of articles (structure, writing and technical content).
- Edit articles to address structure, flow and language.
- Appraise articles for rigour and validity. Pose technical questions to authors to clarify, substantiate, elaborate and prompt deeper reflection and learning.
- Identify need for and coordinate internal or external peer review for prospective articles.
- Write succinct summaries (abstracts) of original articles.
- Summarise published research papers and reports into summary articles.
- Collate themes and key messages across all articles for editors and work with them to produce editorials and technical briefs.
- Proof-read designed issues and briefs.
- Review content sub-edited and summarised by other FEX team members for quality control and consistency.

Dissemination of FEX content
- In collaboration with the ENN communications lead:
- Develop podcasts and soundbites, developing questions for author interview podcasts in collaboration with authors.
- Proactively seek blog content from authors, leading its content development, review and finalisation.
- Contribute to development of a communications plan for each FEX issue in order to disseminate content optimally.
- Curate and initiate development of FEX website content, identifying areas for development.
- Represent ENN at events including conferences, webinars etc. to promote and disseminate FEX, including development of FEX materials such as leaflets, videos etc. where required.
FEX strategy implementation
- Take the lead in the implementation of the FEX strategy 2024-2029, such as by:
- Making smaller adjustments to the FEX process as identified.
- Coordinating larger pieces of prioritised work, for example by:
- Building the capacity of authors through a more comprehensive approach.
- Expanding our reach to younger audiences.
- Engaging with academic institutions in more resource-poor settings.
- Mobilise resources for FEX through engagement with donors and other FEX contributors through identifying potential sources of funding, engaging with donors and ‘selling’ FEX, and writing proposals to secure funding.
Internal project content coordination
- Coordinate, manage and track development of all articles and issues from submission to publication against deadlines, ensuring donor requirements are met.
- Communicate with all authors, FEX team members and external consultants to facilitate the development of every article and issue, as well as other outputs such as technical briefs.
- Collate and review submissions, potential papers for summarising and other opportunities, and solicit necessary and timely editorial review and final decisions.
- Initiate regular meetings and other communications with the FEX editors to provide feedback on progress, explore opportunities, and make decisions about submissions, content to summarise, delegation of tasks and timelines and input into strategic discussions about future content/issues.
- Lead regular meetings with wider FEX team (editors, sub-editors, operations team, communications team, copy editor, designer) for feedback on progress, agreement on timelines, to brainstorm ideas and delegate tasks.

Essential requirements
- Master’s degree in nutrition or public health or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrable experience working in the international nutrition sector, including experience working in developing countries.

The role sits in our global communications team, working with, and reporting to, the Head of Communications. Responsibilities
The Communications Officer (Media) will have a particular focus on increasing international media coverage of BHRRC’s work and research, and the activities of our partners, including in the field of labour rights. Responsibilities will include:
Drive a proactive and strategic press approach: Spot opportunities for high impact coverage in target outlets, building on existing press lists, develop relationships with priority journalists, and create and pitch compelling content to media, including media advisories, press releases and related materials.
Develop high-impact communications products, synthesising complex research and data sets: Work with our Global Team to develop materials which speak to our key audiences. Develop key messages for our priority programmes and also discrete outputs including individual briefings and research reports.
Contribute to organisational and project communications strategies and planning: Support the Head of Communications to implement our communications strategy. Advise project managers on strategic communications and support launch project planning. Keep our planning calendar up to date and help ensure deadlines are met.
Produce well-written content: Write and edit channel-appropriate content for our audiences. Support the Global Team to produce high-quality and newsworthy reports, op-eds and blogs.
Support digital outputs: Support the Web Content and Senior Digital Officers as appropriate, creating content for our digital platform and social media platforms (including priority platforms LinkedIn and Twitter).

Key competencies and attributes
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a communications role, including working in a busy press office, communications department or as a journalist.
Media: Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; ability to conceive, craft and pitch news stories and carry out fast reactive work. Knowledge of and experience of working with the mainstream media, including knowledge of the editorial positions, audiences, and sections or programmes of key outlets. In addition, ideally, knowledge of international business media or media in some specific countries or regions.
Relationship building: Track record of developing relationships with journalists on key issues. Any existing contacts of relevance to BHRRC’s work a bonus.

JOB PURPOSE
As part of the Brand and Marketing team, the Social Media Officer will lead on social media strategy for the organization, working closely with teams across Magic Breakfast to develop and diversify our presence on social media.
