Our aim is to increase understanding of child sexual abuse and neglect and to raise awareness so that abuse can be identified, responded to and ultimately prevented. We will do this by working with and training local partners to build capacity, skills and knowledge to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in developing and building our work in the East of England. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid team, working from home or co-working spaces, supporting the delivery and development of services. In the first instance we will be taking a place-based approach by working in the Luton and Bedfordshire area, however successful candidates will be expected to travel throughout the region.

The Community Engagement Practitioner will be an essential contact and facilitator for existing scheme members. The post holder will provide consistency and enthusiasm across all activities while ensuring all practices are underpinned by co-creation, delivery and future development of the scheme by the members of Connect. This is an exciting opportunity to be alongside our members and to provide day-to-day practical support, signposting, and safe spaces for membership interaction. By joining our team at this time, you will be an integral part of our team, in that you will be part of co-creating a Community for Life. 

Whilst being homebased, the Community Engagement Practitioner will be required to work flexibly including regular evening working and occasional weekends as well as travelling for team meetings, member events, training and other in person events. 

The main role requirements for this role include:

• A degree in social work or similar equivalent qualification / experience.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people and adults from the age of 15 years upwards.
• Experience of developing and maintaining community spaces.
• Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with, providing support for and serving as a positive role model to care experienced people.
• Experience of using digital technologies to engage and communicate with members / stakeholders.

The Service Manager will lead and manage Advance’s YWG Victim Service, delivering effective management of a team of frontline Advocates, as well as collaborating with Catch 22 to ensure the Advance team and its service delivery are embedded in the wider CYP Victims Services delivered by Catch 22.

You will have experience of managing frontline staff, supporting them to follow service delivery processes and procedures to ensure effective and safe service delivery to achieve positive outcomes for young women and girls accessing the Victims and Witnesses service. Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and Southwest London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

At the heart of the hospice are our dedicated clinical staffs. Their exceptional commitment and professionalism is commented on by so many of the supported children and their families. 

It costs £10.5 million a year to maintain our current level of care. Only 30% of that income comes from government funding via the NHS or local authorities, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. We employ 175 staff, including 98 nursing and medical staff, providing hospice and community-based services to around 700 families.

Predominantly we work with families living in the Northwest and Southwest of London and Surrey, although will accept children outside these geographical areas if they do not have access to specialist palliative care support locally.  We have a reputation for delivering high quality care.  We have a CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’

Introduction

Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. Additionally, they oversee the operations of our retail outlets, ensuring that they are efficiently run to generate income for our hospices.

Part 1: Job Profile

a) Main purpose of  job

In the absence of the manager or assistant managers to lead a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures. 

Decision Making Authority

The post holder will be required to make decisions on the quality, and suitability of donations before they are placed on sale. Depending on the length of the cover period they may be required to dress the windows. (They will follow price guidelines and existing display layout throughout the shop.)

The post holder will work with eCommerce Manager to decide if items would be suitable for selling at a higher price on eBay or through a promotional event and set these aside for the manager of the shop to deal with on their return.

The post holder will support with rostering of the team of volunteers where necessary and delegation of duties and jobs.

• Ensure that the advertised trading hours of the shop are adhered to

• Ensure relevant documents are completed in the event of an incident/accident and reported accordingly

b) Processing donations – 25%

• Process all donations as soon as possible, prioritising Gift Aid and high value items

• Prepare and clean items appropriately for display

• Oversee the recycling and arranging of collections

• Promote Gift Aid is at all available opportunities

• Ensure that the ongoing need for donations is publicised

• Price and ticket all items according to pricing strategy for the shop and ensure that all pricing and ticketing complies with legislation

• Ensure that stock is properly managed and rotated in accordance with latest guidance

• Identify high value or specialist items that may need to be sold in another capacity

c) Merchandising, display and promotion of stock, maintenance of high standards throughout the shop – 20%

• Ensure that all merchandise is displayed attractively and that the window display is eye-catching

• Ensure that there are high standards of cleanliness and tidiness in all areas of the  shop

d) Sales and financial reporting – 10%

• In the absence of the manager/assistant ensure that daily/weekly financial reports are submitted and that any discrepancies are investigated

• Keep the Head of Volunteer Development and Retail fully informed and updated regarding the performance of the shop and any issues which may impact this

• Ensure that the Manager/Assistant Manager and shop volunteer team are kept informed of the shop’s performance

• The post holder will be able and willing to get to and work in a number of shops and be available across seven days per week.

About the role

We’re looking for a Human Resources Advisor with strong experience in employee relations and policy development to join our People Team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the HR Business Partners and act as the escalation point from our People Operations Team, offering comprehensive, pragmatic people advisory services across the organisation. About this key role

As our specialist worker you will provide peer supervisory support to the team within the wider hospital based services, which includes deputising for the Senior Caseworker, and supporting the Data Coordinator and Senior Caseworker with the collation of information and data for project monitoring purposes. We will also count on you to develop and maintain strong relationships with clinicians and hospital staff, while also identifying onward referral pathways with other services in the hospital such as CAMHS, IDVA, COMPASS and other statutory and voluntary sectors in the community.

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. The candidate will have experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work as part of an innovative service, designed to offer multi-disciplinary wrap-around support to women with multiple needs, with the aim of facilitating long-term recovery.

As a Children and Young Persons Support Worker (CYP Domestic Violence Advocate), you will be required to:

• Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments and ensure each CYP receives an individual tailored support package that fully meets their identified needs, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Provide one to one support to children and young people living in families affected by domestic abuse.
• Effectively manage a caseload of different risk level cases of approx. 12-15 young people and provide specialist support to reduce the risk and increase safety
• Review the assessment of risk on an ongoing basis, ensuring appropriate and immediate action is taken in respect of any CYP facing significant harm, making the necessary referrals to MARAC and local safeguarding processes as required given the legal framework relating to the protection of children and the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
• To consult with and involve children and young people in making decisions about themselves and the development of the service.
• Establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, with the intention of supporting children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Attend meetings as required.
• To advocate on behalf of children and young people with experience of domestic abuse to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met
• Experience of delivering effective multi-agency and partnership work, including building relationships with statutory and voluntary CYP service providers

To manage a caseload of allocated cases originating from the UK or overseas: 

• Offer advice and guidance to referrers on good practice in international child protection casework 

• Assess cases referred to CFAB, identifying the intervention required and the   resources/agency to undertake it 

• Prepare information for referral abroad or to an agency in the UK 

• Establish, develop and maintain good relationships with clients and/or agencies in the UK and overseas to ensure the progression of cases to resolution 

• Ensure smooth implementation of finance systems including invoicing for casework 

• Ensure that all cases are dealt with in a manner consistent with CFAB guidelines and good practice standards 

To support administration and quality assurance of CFAB’s case management: 

• Collate and compile data on country information 

• Input new case referrals to electronic case system 

• Support the preparation for weekly case allocations meetings 

• Monitor incoming email enquiries and referrals 

• Liaise with social work database provider on behalf of the Social Work Team 

• Update and maintain team databases 

To support the development of the Social Work Team and wider CFAB team: 

• Participate in social work and CFAB team meetings 

• Actively participate in regular supervision meetings with line manager 

• Represent CFAB appropriately to external partners 

• Contribute to special projects and training delivery as required 

To be adaptable and willing to take on new roles and responsibilities as the services of CFAB develop in response to the changing needs

• Degree level education or equivalent work experience 

• Understanding of the local and international rights of children and families 

• Understanding of the needs of children separated from their families and at risk of harm 

• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

• Ability to establish good relationships with service users and stakeholders 

• Reliability and commitment 

• I.T. literate 

• Fluency in English

• Work experience in relevant child and family work

The Community Leader will oversee the management of our community services and activities, ensuring the programmes align with local needs, our strategic goals and available funding. 

Key Responsibilities

·Design and implement a comprehensive activities programme that addresses the social, educational and wellbeing f the community.

·Manage the day-to-day operations of our programme, ensuring the seamless delivery of activities and collaborating with all stakeholders to provide high-quality, holistic services.

·Ensure effective project management practices are consistently applied in your work, fostering efficiency and accountability.

·Oversee the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of all community activities, ensuring they align with funding requirements and high-quality reports are provided to funders and partners.

 ·Work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to identify funding opportunities, and prepare and submit high-quality funding applications.

·Build trust and strong relationships with local residents by organising co-production, engagement and consultation opportunities that involve people with lived experience.

·Work with partners, community-led groups, and representatives across various sectors and organisations to enhance support for community members.

·Develop engaging marketing materials, including leaflets, website content, and social media posts, to ensure our services are widely advertised and accessible to a diverse audience.

·Oversee all administrative aspects of project activities and coordinate volunteer and staff schedules.

Key information

Salary: £37,000 – 39,000 per annum (pro rata £31,700 to £33,400)

Hours: 30 hours per week (over a minimum of 4 days)

Contract: Fixed term contract until 30 April 2026 (extension subject to funding)

Holidays: 25 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Report to: Executive Director

Line-manage:  1 Community Development Coordinator and 3 Community Organisers
