We’re looking for an Enterprise Manager to join our London & South East regional team. You will cover waterways from the busy Regents Canal, Lee Navigation, parts of the Grand Union Canal and Oxford Canal. Our miles of canal provide active travel corridors, opportunities for our communities to improve their wellbeing and blue-green wildlife habitats.
As Enterprise Manager, you will secure external funding through partnerships and bid writing, and support delivery of projects which ‘transform places and enrich lives’. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop potential projects in line with our strategic priorities and be responsible for securing funding to make them happen. You will support our Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle from inception to closure in line with the Trust’s financial reporting process, acting as first point of contact for external funders throughout. You will also act as point of contact and support project development for third parties carrying out active travel and public realm improvements on our land.
At any given time, you will hold a portfolio of varied projects, from towpath and access improvements, as well as habitat improvements, community engagement and heritage conservation.
Location
The role will be based working from home, with the allocation of a nearby Hub for collaborative working in Little Venice. Travel required within the region for site visits, media calls, social media moments, events and meetings.
It is therefore essential that you are able to effectively work from home, whilst also having the flexibility to be mobile when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
Key responsibilities:
- To support activity and work in the region by securing funding for a range of strategic priorities.
- To represent and promote the work of the Trust to key external stakeholders, Government departments, regional agencies, lottery distributors, key statutory funders, trusts and foundations, charitable trusts and other regional and sub-regional partnerships.
- To develop and manage relationships with statutory, charitable, and key partners.
- Lead or contribute to partnerships that generate resources that further to the region’s delivery of waterway maintenance and health and wellbeing outcomes.
- Manage the financial aspects of projects and the funding risks of externally funded projects throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- To be responsible for output, outcome and impact monitoring and reporting.
- To keep abreast of the funding environment to enable rapid reaction to emerging opportunities.

About you:
This role is based with our London & Southeast team, and we are looking for someone with particular experience and developed networks across this region.Our successful Enterprise Manager may previously have worked in roles such as Partnerships Manager, Development Manager, Fundraising Manager, Partnerships & Fundraising Manager, and will ideally have good knowledge and confidence in identifying and successfully bidding for project funding via government departments, regional agencies, statutory funders, and charitable trusts. Prior experience of statutory funded active travel schemes is desirable.
Technical:
- A proven track record of developing and writing successful funding bids.
- Knowledge of funding environments, including lottery distributors, key statutory funders, trusts and foundations, charitable trusts.
- Experience of strategic relationship, partnership development and management.
- Innovation and creativity, to develop projects from concept to delivery and to match trust priorities with funding.
- Budget and project management experience with the ability to manage financial risk.
- Experience of financial reporting
General:
- Ability to influence, persuade and negotiation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – strong presenter.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. Support existing group leaders and organisers to reach more people living with and affected by prostate cancer with tools and resources.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
- Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.

- Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for volunteers based on the specific needs of Group Leaders and Organisers. Set up regional forums for sharing best practices and peer networking. Encourage use of Members Portal to share good practice.

Skills and Qualities Required:

This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations. Forcesline is SSAFA's frontline telephone service handling both day-to-day and more complex enquiries from the Armed Forces community.
This role is responsible for the management and development of the Forcesline service and will also act as point of contact for the Veterans Gateway. The Manager will lead and support a team of advisors, developing the service in response to the needs of the clients and technological requirements, as well as ensuring a high quality of service. The role involves the preparation of data, briefings, presentations and some media work.

This role requires the management of a small team of advisors who provide free confidential listening, information and signposting service for serving personnel, their families, veterans and professionals who are looking for help. You will work with a great team of advisors who are both experienced and skilled. All Forcesline Welfare Advisors are trained in Safeguarding and each practitioner has at least a Level 2 Counselling qualification. Their experience covers former Samaritans, Pastrol Care, Social Work and Police Despatch Calling. As a team they learn and support one another. You as their Manager will be fully involved with this and will ensure SSAFA delivers on its mission as a trusted source of support to the Armed Forces Community as their times of need.

You will have had experience in delivering welfare support to others, and ideally this has been gained through a helpline. While the team is small, some management experience would be desirable. This natural heritage is a vital resource for the local community – the Woods saw an unprecedented 81% increase in footfall during the height of the pandemic, with visitor numbers increasing from 189,645 in 2019 to 343,385 in 2020. Only fragments of the ancient Great North Wood landscape remain; this project will help to ensure the long-term protection of the largest area of remaining Woodland.
As Project Manager, you can expect to:
- Oversee all work, ensuring that all project work is completed on time and to budget as described in the delivery phase, holding quarterly meetings to ensure we’re on track
- liaise and further develop relationships with relevant partners and funders
