Working closely with a highly talented group of Trustees, staff and expert volunteers, we need someone with the ability to build and mobilise the resources and relationships required to have a major impact on our vital research funding. 

As this is a small charity, along with the ability to lead the organisation’s fundraising and communications, you must be willing to roll up your sleeves to get stuck into the work too.

Overall Purpose of the Head of Research

• To lead the delivery of the charity’s strategic research aims including managing and further developing Guts UK’s grants programme, managing our small research team, working with research partners and networks to raise awareness of our work and outcomes, further develop impact, and continue to develop and embed patient and public involvement (PPI) in our research.

The Help for Heroes Community Development team are looking to recruit a team of Community Builders to assist in their reshaped participation and connection strategy. About You

You will have experience leading and facilitating the mobilisation of local communities, asset mapping, bringing together people for engagement that matters to them. You will have knowledge and experience of Asset Based Community Development work, outreach methods and you will have good organisational skills, energy and the ability to animate local communities. 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver outreach to drive local connection, engagement and participation opportunities for the AFC 

• Develop and embed an ABCD informed way of work 

• Asset map 

• Organise and facilitate community meetings to share ideas, encourage collective decision making and build a sense of belonging 

• Encourage and pilot community lead action in response to local AFC needs/interests through peer led/co-designed initiatives

• A Community Development qualification and/or at least 3 years' experience working within a community development or similar role, with responsibility for bringing about social change and improving quality of life

• Experience of engaging and working collaboratively with partners/stakeholders 

About the Team 

You will work as part of the Community Development team; this newly formed team will approach working in defined localities using an asset based community development approach. What is the role?

This a 12 Month Maternity contract.

Working within our values and behavioural framework, the role involves closely managing the relationships of our partner organisations (known as Licensed Organisations – LOs) and ensuring those within your portfolio offer quality and inclusive DofE programmes to young people.

While managing these relationships across your portfolio area in Newcastle, Northumberland and South Tyneside, you will also identify and develop new relationships with appropriate educational and community organisations to widen the access of the DofE to young people, particularly those who experience marginalisation.

You will be undertaking regular meetings, in person and virtually, engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders at different levels within different organisations across your portfolio area. When not out at meetings, you will be working from home.

Whilst you won’t be working directly with young people, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are having a positive impact on their future opportunities.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a team player who has a passion for the development of young people and who will be enthusiastic, who can engage and influence a variety of stakeholders and who will be an authentic ambassador for the DofE.

You will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders and have the skills to inspire and influence them to enable young people to participate in DofE.

To undertake the role, you’ll need to be exceptionally organised, have the ability to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and have excellent administrative skills, being both computer literate and competent in MS Office applications.

We are looking for someone who has a positive outlook and who will actively contribute to our team.

The role will be mixture of home based and field based. The successful application should live within, or very close to, the portfolio area of Newcastle, Northumberland and South Tyneside with a full driving/motorbike licence and access to a vehicle.

About you

You’ll have worked in a similar environment such as fundraising. You will have gained experience in running direct marketing activity to generate response, working with suppliers and in-house teams to reach target audiences. 
You’re super organised with excellent communication skills, comfortable managing external suppliers and in-house stakeholders to deliver campaigns to plan and against budget.

Working across a range of channels, including direct mail, telemarketing, DRTV, legacy events and digital, you will understand the importance of good stewardship in developing loyalty to a cause.

Grants Manager-Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

 The Ukraine Humanitarian appeal raised £426 million and helped an estimated 6.9 million people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The Grants Manager is integral in working closely with DEC colleagues and members to build and sustain, a solid understanding of the evolving humanitarian context. The Grants Manager will maintain strong oversight of the DEC funded programme including the reporting cycle, adaptive programming and facilitate strong and relevant engagement with DEC member charities and local partners and external briefings over the duration of the response.

Key responsibilities:

Communication and Collaboration

· Key programmes point of contact regarding the DEC funded programme, responding to enquiries from member charity programmes and other related staff, facilitating timely and accurate communication.

· Maintain strong understanding of response context.

· Manage and provide timely, response briefings to internal and external audiences, key stakeholders including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office [FCDO] and, other key stakeholders.

 

Analysis and Reporting

· Review, evaluate, and advise on member charity plans and reports for consistency, trends analysis and coherence of data across submitted documentation.

· Contribute to the review and analysis of plans and reports submitted by member charities in response to DEC appeals.

· Share timely and relevant information and analysis from plans and reports with DEC member charities and local partners. 

· Manage external reporting requirements including preparation of stakeholder reports and infographics.

Management and Leadership

· Coordinate the team’s surge capacity to deliver points above, which may involve managing and inducting a team of external consultants and training them in the use of our knowledge management system [Box].

· Coordinate with the Programme Quality, Accountability & Learning team to ensure monitoring, learning and accountability initiatives are timely and appropriate to the response.

· Support with real-time reviews, community perception studies and other related MEAL activities.

If you have demonstratable humanitarian experience of Ukraine, with the competence to prepare timely/accurate reports and deliver credible presentations to diverse audiences, then you will be perfect to join an incredible team and organisation.

This role is responsible for the development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the directorate’s planning and risk management processes and systems.  Ensuring successful oversight and monitoring of these plans and identification and management of risks and resources related to our services, corporate partnerships functions and practice and compliance functions.  
 
The role holder will be responsible for:

- Leading on the development of business planning with responsibility for effectively managing, reporting, and monitoring on progress against directorate and functional level plans, and understanding how these plans translate into the charity’s strategic priorities and objectives. 
- Responsible for early detection of challenges, resource, capacity issues arising in forward plans, offering solutions, and contributing to directorate improvement planning. 
- Monitoring and reporting on risk registers and mitigations; working with the leadership teams to identify risks and future mitigating activities through planning processes.  
- Supporting early planning, coordination, and communication of findings related to internal audits applicable to the directorate; supporting with the development and monitoring of relevant improvement plans.  
- Development and reporting of measurable targets and performance indicators.  

About you
You will have experience of developing and monitoring multi-faceted business planning and risk processes, you will be competent and confident in leading and project managing this process working collaboratively with teams and senior leaders. Experienced in developing, analysing and using data insights and measures to inform performance against plan and future vision.

We are looking for a Graphic Designer (maternity cover).

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. Working under the direction of the Senior Graphic Designer and within the Communications and Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will work across a range of different projects supporting the priorities of the charity.

For this varied and busy role of Events Manager we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills. You will be used to working across a number of projects and be able to prioritise your workload and manage your time effectively in this part time role. You will have experience at managing and coordinating events and be able to pick up administrative and IT processes quickly. It is essential to have excellent attention to detail. You will also be able to build successful relationships both internally with volunteers and staff before and during events, and with event venues and other external suppliers. A high degree of flexibility is required for the role, and a willingness to work some evenings and weekends. The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a national bereavement charity founded 55 years ago, providing peer support and information to bereaved parents and families, whose child has died from any age (from one month old to an adult son or daughter) and from any cause. We are passionate about offering a range of supportive events for bereaved parents and adult siblings and online groups for parents in specific circumstances and adult siblings. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed member of our small staff team to organise, coordinate and manage existing and future supportive events, support the volunteers who staff our weekend retreats, support days and online groups, while also working to develop this area of our peer support for bereaved parents and adult siblings.
