We often support service users who are transitioning into their own accommodation. Whilst this can be a time of happiness, it can also be a time of worry, with it bringing its own challenges, including physically being able to move their own belongings.
We want to support that transition as best we can, hence us looking for a skilled Volunteer Handyperson, who can help to make this process as smooth as possible.
CORE TASKS:
We are looking for a Volunteer Handyperson to help support a smooth transition for service users as they move into their new accommodation. Tasks will include:
· Lifting, carrying, and transporting items in a safe manner
· General handyperson tasks such as installing shelving
· General maintenance tasks
· Sharing knowledge of general maintenance with service users to empower them to do it themselves going forward
· Only complete tasks that you able or qualified to complete
· Maintain health and safety at all times
· Showing awareness of service users’ varying physical and mental well-being needs
· To provide feedback and safeguarding concerns to Local Coordinator - reporting any observations or concerns in a timely manner
· To take part in regular supervision and support
To regularly attend volunteer or staff meetings
· To attend training as and when required including health and safety, boundaries, safeguarding, manual handling and confidentiality
· To work within agreed professional boundaries at all times
· To provide a safe and non-judgmental environment that promotes the core values and ethos of the Trust, in accordance with the Medaille Trust Policy, Data Protection Act, and Health and Safety Regulations.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The role would suit someone who is friendly, kind, empathetic and non-judgemental. As well as someone who is physically fit to be able to lift and carry heavy objects. This position is rewarding and will be making an immediate difference in supporting and empowering service users.
This role requires maturity, and an ability to engage with people in a trauma informed way, while working alongside staff members in line with agreed procedures and systems.
· Volunteers must be at least 18 years old
· Volunteers will need to have a good standard of spoken and written English
· Be computer literate to be able to complete any online training
· Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
· Volunteers to have knowledge and understanding of human trafficking issues or willingness to learn
· Knowledge of mental health issues and the challenges faced or a willingness to learn
· An understanding of the importance of professional boundaries in the role
· Have own vehicle which is in good condition, with tax, MOT and insurance which covers volunteer usage.

This is an exciting opportunity to support our busy Business Support team in Camden with the smooth running of the our new Head Office. About the role
In this role, volunteers will:
- Provide assistance at reception/in admin office answering ensuring all telephone calls are answered in and messages are relayed to relevant member of staff or manager
- To ensure that the central office is kept tidy and organised, and free of obstructions and compliant with health and safety.

- Directing staff and visitors to rooms/activities within Greenland Place
- Notifying staff that visitors have arrived for appointments/meetings

What is the purpose of this role?
Supporting staff to manage the stockroom at the shop in Sutton in Ashfield and the Ransom Wood storage unit. On an occasional basis, to help with collections and deliveries, and transfer of stock between our shops in Sutton in Ashfield and West Bridgford.
What impact does this role have?
This role helps the shop to run efficiently and effectively, to be able to sell products for Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, which in turn, can be used to allow Age UK Notts to continue to run effective services for older people.
What activities might you be involved in?
- Supporting staff to manage the stock room within the Sutton shop – keeping racking clean and tidy, organising space to maintain good health and safety systems.
- Accepting donations from supporters that visit the shop and encouraging those who are taxpayers to sign up to Gift Aid to increase the value of the donation when sold by 25%.
- Processing items at Ransom Wood storage unit when there is no room to deposit them straight into the shop.
- Travelling with the driver to pick up donated items (furniture, white goods, bric-a-brac, clothing, or a mix of all 4)
- Completing deliveries with the driver to customers’ homes
- Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct
What are we looking for?
- The physical ability to lift and move furniture and other stock so applicants should be physically fit and be able to complete these tasks
- A willingness to complete a variety of tasks both in the shop and at the Ransom Wood storage unit.
- An individual who gets on well with people to facilitate good customer service

Wiltshire Moving on Project supports female survivors of modern slavery, trafficking and exploitation. As part of this work, we offer weekly sessions where service users can come together in a safe space to participate in activities and create friendships.
We are looking for a Volunteer Workshop Host to work with staff and other volunteers at the Swindon hub to support service users attending the hub. The Swindon drop in/hub currently runs every Friday and includes social and activity sessions as well as information and signposting.
CORE TASKS:
We are looking for Volunteer Workshop hosts to help support us in our drop in and uplifting group session activities, tasks will include:
· Welcoming visitors and service users to the hub, helping them sign in, directing them to the hub space, helping service users to engage within a group setting, helping with any activity sessions that take place on or off the premises.

Age UK Notts are seeking individuals who would like to be considered as a volunteer for our Companion Service.
Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.
The companion service volunteer can choose to be:
• A companion telephone/video caller
• A companion within the person’s home
• A companion outside the person’s home
• Or a combination of all three.
Examples of the type of support the service offers include:
• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat.
• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.
• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.
• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups.
• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.
We are looking for the following skills/interests:
• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.
• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly.
• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.
• Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

Being a Trustee
IRMO’s Board of Trustees is made up of six to nine Trustees, who work together to ensure the charity is run properly. As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to support IRMO’s strategic development and oversee its finances. Trustees meet every two months (usually online in the evening) and are asked to commit an additional eight to ten hours between meetings to follow up on actions and provide advice and input on strategic documents and areas of work relevant to their areas of expertise.
General Responsibilities
- Stay up to date with and assess the political, economic and social contexts that affect IRMO’s work
- Support the development of and approve IRMO’s key strategic documents
- Annually review and approve IRMO’s budget
- Review, update and approve major policies
- Approve salaries, benefits, terms and conditions for staff
- Ensure that IRMO’s financial structure is adequate for its current needs and long-term strategy
- Ensure that the organisation has the necessary resources in place to meet its long-term goals
- Ensure that the Board of Trustees is adequately informed of the condition of the organisation and its operations
- Ensure that published reports adequately reflect the nature of the services and the financial condition of the organisation
- Approve major actions of the organisation, such as capital expenditure over authorised limits and major changes in activities and services
- Review staff results in relation to IRMO’s aims and objectives, as well as annual and long-term goals
- Appoint, supervise, support, and appraise IRMO’s Director
- Provide candid and constructive criticism, advice, comments and praise
- Ensure that the Director has established appropriate policies to define and identify conflicts of interest throughout the organisation and are administering and enforcing those policies
- Appoint independent examiners/auditors subject to approval by members
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation affecting the organisation
- Annually review the performance of the Board of Trustees and take steps to improve its performance

If so, St Giles is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Peer Advisors working on our pioneering Footsteps service for women.

To date we have been awarded more than 20 contracts to deliver Personal Wellbeing, Finance, Benefit & Debt and Women’s Services across England and Wales.
About this key role
Guided by Women’s Wellbeing Coaches who will support and help you throughout, as a volunteer Peer Advisor you will support the women using a variety of methods to help reduce the risk of reoffending and encourage positive lifestyle choices. You will provide mentoring for clients in a positive manner, in a way that helps them reach their specific goals, while also advocating on behalf of the clients and providing practical advice, which can include contacting other services or professionals on your client’s behalf and/or accompanying them at meetings.
We will count on you to maintain accurate records of your activity involving support provided to clients and to develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with all members of staff at St Giles Trust and other professionals in the community. Undertaking any relevant training requested to support your success and development is also key to this role.
What we are looking for
- An understanding of the possible issues faced by females involved or at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system
- Lived experience of the criminal justice system (desirable)
- Excellent written and communication skills, including familiarity with form filling, letter writing and advocacy and following instructions
- Impressive relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.
Please note this role requires that successful candidates must undergo an Enhanced DBS check, on the basis that the post involves contact with vulnerable participants and colleagues.

Citizens Advice Esher & District is a well-established local advice charity that is seeking a HR professional to joins its trustee board and help deliver effective people management policies and plans. If you’re excited to help us have the right team in place to meet the advice needs of our local community in Surrey, we would love to hear from you.
Our Trustee Board is responsible for providing us with strategic thinking. As our Human Resources expert on the Board, you will work alongside the Chair, Personnel Sub-committee and Chief Executive to:
- Provide strategic and occasional operational advice on issues such as recruitment, employment contracts and remuneration
- Take a lead in reviewing the charity’s people management policies and procedures
- Advise on workforce planning and engagement to deliver our short and long term objectives
- Chair our Personnel sub-committee, setting the agenda for each six-monthly meeting and helping to prepare agenda papers
As a member of the Trustee Board, you will be responsible for:
● Maintaining an awareness of how our charity is operating
● Reading papers for Board meetings and attending six meetings per year
● Working on specific projects with other trustees or staff to further the strategic objectives of the charity
● Taking an active discussion during Board meetings and working with other trustees to:
- set policy and strategy direction, set targets and evaluate the performance of the charity
- ensure that all the finances and supporting financial control systems of the charity are in order
- monitor the financial position of the charity ensuring that it operates within its means and objectives
- monitor how well the service meets the needs of the local community
- ensure that the service plans for the recruitment and turnover of staff and volunteers
- review its own work and how effectively it operates including action for improvement
Person Specification
We need someone who either lives, works or studies in Elmbridge who has:
- HR experience with current knowledge of UK employment law, policy and practice, including compensation and benefits
- A commitment to the Citizens Advice organisation
- An understanding of the differences between managing the rights of employees and managing the rights of volunteers
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Experience of Citizens Advice work is not required.
Time commitment
Our Trustees are expected to attend six board meetings each year. These normally take place on a Monday evening, alternating between 5-7pm and 7pm-9pm, at our office in Esher. There is an option to join most meetings online, although we encourage meeting in person. Reading preparation for each Board meeting will take around one-two hours. All Citizens Advice Trustees are required to complete a small number of e-learning courses each year.
You will also be asked to Chair and prepare papers for our Personnel sub-committee which meets six-monthly, and to offer ad-hoc support relevant to your expertise.

People with good local knowledge and strategic vision can really help us to develop a service that meets the changing advice needs of our community.
More specifically, your input will help us to recruit and retain staff and volunteers and achieve a sustainable future. Without this, we risk having to cut our service to local residents and workers - and the most vulnerable members of society will have nowhere else to turn.
