At Roots Academy, we’ve built a learning experience that’s changing the lives of the ummah’s future leaders, change-makers and visionaries.
Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 1,800 students across the UK.
Role Summary
To bring our vision to life, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing our social media strategy. You will be responsible for creating engaging and meaningful content that resonates with our audience, promotes our educational programs, and nurtures our community’s spiritual development.
Key tasks
- Social Media Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Roots Academy’s mission and goals.
- Content Creation: Create compelling and informative social media content, including posts, videos, graphics, and stories, that reflects our values and engages our target audience.
- Community Engagement: Build and nurture a vibrant online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
- Content Calendar: Maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent posting schedule and to plan for special events, holidays, and campaigns.
- Audience Growth: Implement strategies to increase our social media following and engagement, including the use of hashtags, collaborations, and promotions.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor social media metrics, track campaign performance, and provide regular reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure that all social media content adheres to Roots Academy’s branding guidelines and reflects our core values.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to align social media efforts with broader organisational objectives.
What we’re looking for
- Strong understanding of Islamic values and the ability to communicate and promote them effectively.
- Proven experience in social media management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit context.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in social media management tools and platforms.
- Creative thinking and the ability to develop engaging content.
- Strong analytical skills for tracking and evaluating social media performance.
- Understanding of social media advertising and paid promotion.
- Community management experience with the ability to maintain a positive and respectful online environment.
- Graphic Design Software - Basic knowledge of graphic design software like Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite for creating or editing marketing materials.

A Little Bit of Sunshine UK is seeking TRUSTEES to join our Board of Trustees.
This is an important point in the charity’s development as we head into our second year of operation, supporting young people to be at the heart of decision making in support services.

A Little Bit of Sunshine is the youth-led charity uniting young voices with decision-makers to adress the mental health crisis. Our mission is to secure a brighter future for young people by creating a platform for them to shape the services they access.
At A Little Bit of Sunshine, we believe in the power of youth voice and the importance of users of a service having a voice and feeling listened to. We are working to ensure that young people have a seat at the table when it comes to designing and delivering services to support their mental health and wellbeing.

About the Board
Our Board plays an important role in designing the strategic priorities of the charity, and for overall strategic managment of the charity.
Trustees are accountable for the proper and effective operation of the charity, giving strategic direction to the Chief Executive and the charity’s leadership team, ensuring the financial health and good financial management of the organisation, ensuring that the charity has sufficient funds to support its activities, and protecting the charity's reputation and independence.
We now have a number of trustee vacancies we wish to fill, to complement our existing Board and guide our successful and growing organisation into the next phase of development. We are therefore seeking someone who:

is a clincian or a liscened therapist

has charity management or volunteering experience, or

has experience in HR and safeguarding
If you have a passion and commitment to support a value-driven organisation, strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort, we would be delighted to hear from you. Any travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. However, please note that this is a voluntary and unpaid position.
We are open to applications from people who have not served on a board before and will offer mentoring and support in skills development to enable full participation as a trustee. We understand that people can have different needs and will always work to accommodate them.

- Setup and maintain accurate financial records and financial mangement systems, and prepare monthly financial statements and financial documents.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial planning with the whole Board of Trustees.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards set out by law and legislation, following good practice standards set out by the Charity Commission and HMRC.
- Support fundraising initiatives and manage financial transactions, including being a key signatory on our bank account.
- Other duties and responsibilities required by a Treasurer of a small charity.

The Position: We ask Volunteers to contribute a minimum of one hour a month. At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.

We have 250 local groups which play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS across the UK. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.
We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Borders group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. You can see a video about one of our Group Coordinators here.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need around 5 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the Borders area to carry out this role.
