Join Rekindle's board to shape the future of a dynamic mental health charity making a real difference in the lives of young people.

Rekindle was started in Newtown, Powys in 1997 by a group of people who had all experienced mental health problems within their own families. The aim was to give relief to those suffering from mental illness with therapy and targeted activities. Rekindle is all about recovery, the recovery of mental health, the recovery of opportunity and the recovery of a fulfilled life.

What will you be doing?

In addition to general trustee responsibilities, we're particularly interested with in candidates who have an interest in local business connections or experience in fundraising or mental health service delivery. Depending on skill, some specific responsibilities may include: 

  • Fundraising oversight
  • Grant applications
  • Event planning
  • Community engagement
  • Service development
  • Partnership Building
  • Client advocacy

Time commitment 

  • Estimated at 8 - 10 hours a month. 
  • The board meet 4 times a year, generally in person. Remote attendance can be supported, but trustees are encouraged to attend at least 2 meetings a year face to face. 
  • Trustees are also expected to contribute ad hoc and occasional time outside of board meetings, the majority of which is done remotely.

What are we looking for?

You do not need previous governance experience to join the board. We will provide an induction an ongoing support. We are also eager to diversify our board and welcome younger trustees and those with lived experience. 

We are particularly looking for skills in fundraising and service development.

In this role, you will help ensure that all young people have access to the mental health support they need. You’ll play a key part in guiding Rekindle through its next phase of growth, building on recent successes such as expanding operations, increasing staff, and moving to larger premises. This is your chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people experiencing mental health challenges, helping them build resilience and lead fulfilling lives.
