We are looking to recruit a committed and experienced Senior Fundraising Officer who is able to guide operational fundraising activities towards our strategic goals which require funding. 

Role of the Senior Fundraising Officer:

Pecan is seeking an accountant and Christian to join the Board of Trustees as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance committee. See person spec.

Pecan is a community development charity based in Peckham. We work with the local community to help people find a way through seemingly impossible barriers to a better future.

Over the past 30 years, we’ve seen thousands of clients flourish through our programs, including: ex-offenders and their families, refugees and asylum seekers, young people and the long-term unemployed. We see our service users as people who need supporting – not problems which need solving.

We advocate for those we work with, challenging inequality and injustice at a local and national level to provide hope and belief in a better a future for our community.

Board meetings are held on 10-12 occasions annually on a weeknight at 6.30pm.

Meetings of the Finance committee are held quarterly at a time agreed between trustees and management.

The Treasurer, along with the other finance committee members and senior management, guides the financial and business matters of the charity in line with good practice and in accordance with our governing documents and legal obligations. There are no executive responsibilities within Pecan and the Treasurer will not be an employee.

Main responsibilities and duties - in addition to the general responsibilities of a Trustee and undertaken with other members of the Finance sub-committee

 - To scrutinise and recommend budgets, accounts, financial policies, management accounts and financial statements to the board of Trustees after discussions with the Chief Executive, other senior staff, and other members of the Finance Committee, where applicable.

- To ensure that proper accounts and records are kept, ensuring financial resources are spent and invested in line with the charity’s policies, good governance mechanisms, and legal and regulatory requirements

- To ensure that Pecan has appropriate reserves and investment policies.

- Liaising where applicable with appropriate members of the core management team responsible for the financial and operational activities of the charity.

- Attending and contributing to the work of finance committee in line with its terms of reference and reporting back to the board of Trustees verbally and in writing.

- Liaising with the charity’s auditors where appropriate and monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

- Ensuring that specific financial and organisational controls and systems are in place and adhered to.

- Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans.

- Ensuring that sound financial management of the charity’s resources is maintained and that expenditure and investment are in line with the charity’s objects.

- Reviewing the financial aspects of the charity’s risk register.

Management Committee Members Sought by thriving grassroots mental health charity at the cutting edge of advocacy service delivery in South London

Community Support Network South London (CSN) is a Brixton based mental health service user led and run mental health charity which currently provides mental health advocacy services primarily within the London borough of Lambeth in forensic, (for people with a criminal record in addition to mental health problems); in-patient and community settings.  We are seeking people to join our small and friendly Management Committee which currently has hybrid meetings on a bi-monthly basis.  Management Committee members may also get involved in other aspects of the organisation, such as: promoting the organisation, fundraising, recruitment & other HR issues as appropriate to the trustee role of a small charity.

Expenses reasonably incurred in the execution of the role (e.g. travel) will be met.

Skills/qualifications required for this role:

Understanding of what is required of a trustee, (although an induction pack and training will be provided).  Committee members will guide the work of the organisation, through policy and strategic development, funding. financial control & monitoring service provision.

Leadership, Mental Health, organisational development, management, financial and HR (Human Resources) skills and experience will be a particular asset, as will strategic development and fundraising experience.  We particularly welcome people who have experience of mental health problems and/or mental distress to join our Committee.

West London Centre for Counselling is a registered charity that has been delivering high quality, free, confidential counselling to the local community in Hammersmith and Fulham for over 30 years. We are currently contracted by the NHS Talking Therapies service in Hammersmith and Fulham to deliver short-term therapeutic interventions of 12-20 weeks to people with mild to moderate mental health conditions. All clients receive an assessment before starting treatment, and we assess over 1,000 clients each year.

We have a dedicated, experienced team of clinicians and administrators, and premises in Hammersmith, off Glenthorne Road. We are a BACP accredited service.

We are looking to appoint new volunteer Trustees to join our Board, which meets 4 – 5 times a year, usually on a Monday or Thursday evening in Hammersmith. This is a chance to help to shape the future of the organisation, and to play a role in ensuring its continued success.

We would particularly like to hear from people with experience in strategic development, human resources, or financial management; however the most important thing is an interest in and enthusiasm for the fields of counselling, psychotherapy and/or NHS mental health provision.

By providing access to aspirational, transformative and essential learning resources, practical workshops, and mentorship opportunities, this programme aims to unlock the full potential of our community members. This programme is integral to achieving our vision of a thriving Afro-Hebrew community with access to opportunities that empower them to overcome socio-economic challenges. By offering workshops on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, job skills, mentoring, and work experience opportunities, as well as sponsoring educational resources like school supplies and private tuition, we directly support our mission to uplift those in need. This programme not only aligns with Barawak's objective to foster economic empowerment but also embodies our commitment to providing the tools and knowledge necessary for personal and community growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan and execute the Education & Skill Development strategy and service line:

• Workshop Coordination: Organize quarterly workshops on key topics such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and job skills, ensuring these sessions are informative and engaging for the community.

• Mentoring and Work Experience: Facilitate biannual mentoring events, pairing community members with experienced mentors. Arrange work experience opportunities to enhance vocational skills and job readiness.

• Resource Distribution: Oversee the annual sponsorship of educational resources, such as school supplies and private tuition, to support the educational development of community members.

2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of the number of workshops held; the participant satisfaction rates; and the number of educational resources sponsored. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.

3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams: 

• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establish alliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire education and skill development resources, speakers or information.

• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Education and Skill Development service line. Identify diverse revenue streams, such as grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events for the Education and Skill Development service.

• Volunteer Engagement Team: Work with this team to recruit, train and manage volunteers to support the Education and Skill Development service delivery.

• Marketing Outreach & Advocacy: work with this team to enhance visibility of the Education and Skill Development service across social media, press, andcommunity events. 

4. Governance Team Interaction: Provide regular updates and reports to the Governance, Secretariat & Performance Reporting team. Ensure programmealignment with Barawak policies, procedures, strategyand objectives. Collaborate on monitoring and evaluation efforts to assess Education and Skill Developmentservice impact and effectiveness.

Duties of a Trustee Board Member:

• Ensure that GMWSA complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
• Ensure that GMWSA pursues its objectives as defined in the Strategy and Business plans

• Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the CEO in setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets

• Ensure the financial stability of GMWSA

The Advisory Council responds to the needs of the AYPH membership as well as reflecting and responding to the views expressed by other professionals in the field.

Time commitment: The Advisory Council meets twice a year online, with opportunities to attend the away day and other AYPH events.

Both Trustees and the Advisory Council link with our Youth Advisory Panel to explore Young Ambassadors’ perspectives on young people’s health together.

What is Families Out Loud (FOL)?

Families Out Loud is a small and growing charity, based in Wiltshire, which is run by a group of people who care about family addiction. We’re here to support those affected by other people’s addiction, by enabling people to speak out, without judgement. About the Role
 
As a Families Out Loud Trustee, you will share our passion of supporting families affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. You will be committed to the Purpose, Vision and Values of Families Out Loud, working with the board to deliver the charity’s 5-year strategic plan. We’re committed to helping clients rebuild their lives, and to reducing stigma so they can feel confident to speak freely about their own experiences. As a Trustee, you will support this mission by reviewing the work we do on a regular basis, understanding that everything we do is for the public benefit, and within the charity’s purpose. You will work collaboratively with the other Trustees to effectively manage resources, and to ensure compliance with charity law and other legal requiremets. 
 
This is a voluntary position, mainly working from home. You will be required to attend monthly Trustee meetings which are currently held virtually. Occasionally you may be required to attend in-person meetings in different locations across Wiltshire.

Young Enterprise’s Team Programme is an enterprise journey for students who have mild to moderate learning difficulties. Designed to aid young people’s transition from education into independent living and employment, the programme develops confidence and life skills through working as a team to set up and run an enterprise.

This hands-on and highly impactful role involves mentoring and encouraging students with learning disabilities to face the challenges of running a business, and learn critical life skills, in a safe space.

Team Programme Volunteers are primarily based within schools/ colleges supporting a group of students with learning disabilities. They will volunteer alongside school staff to ensure the young people are able to flourish. Young people particularly value volunteers who can attend in person as this support their learning and development of social skills.

The time commitment can be variable depending on the particular needs of the group. At most this will involve around one hour per week, attending weekly company meetings throughout the school academic year, however in some cases may be less frequent than this.

What you will be doing

• Coaching, mentoring, and positively supporting young people with learning disabilities and autism through their business adventure
• Attending regular company meetings within the school environment
• Liaising closely with the lead teacher to achieve the best outcomes for young people

The skills you need

• Patient, encouraging and open-minded
• Open to learning new things, to challenge and in turn be challenged
• Comfortable in the presence of young people with learning disabilities (but no specific experience is necessary)
• Able to commit to attending regular face to face student company meetings within a school . Continuity for this group of young people is particularly important
• Able to communicate clearly and directly with young people with learning disabilities, who may also have communication difficulties
• A creative thinker, able to support young people experiencing additional barriers to overcome challenges
