About the Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP)
The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. We offer specialised treatment in the areas of depression, suicide prevention, tackling self-harm, eating disorders, exam anxiety and more. Our approach is rooted in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. We aim to reach significantly more young people in the years ahead, drawing on our heritage that combines specialist treatment in-house and outreach into communities. The Brent Centre is also an important Research Centre on Adolescent Breakdown and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
Fundraising at BCYP
BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.
In this exciting newly created role, you will be responsible for helping to grow our income from grant- makers to design and promote funding opportunities, and to steward relationships with supporters through the giving cycle. We are looking for a fundraiser with at least three to four years of experience in identifying prospects and grant-writing, and who has experienced success in securing funds. Vitally, we want to recruit an individual who is as committed to Brent’s vision, and who will work with us to help us be there for young people in the coming years.
Applications for this role close at 9 a.m. Monday 21st October.
Our students are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to ensure that every student has the highest quality of education and the best student experience possible during their time here at Solent University.
We are here to improve students’ education, make campus life fun, look after their wellbeing, make them more employable after university, and ultimately empower them to change the world around them.
As a Students’ Union, we are constantly listening, learning, evolving, and being accountable for our actions. Equality, diversity, and inclusivity, as well as sustainability, are extremely important to us and will be the driving force behind our strategic planning.
Solent Students’ Union employs around 10 salaried staff at any one time. We also offer a range of volunteering opportunities for students. Our staff, headed by our Chief Executive, are dedicated to delivering the Union’s day-to-day support services and activities.
We believe that this is an exciting time to join us as Chief Executive. We have made significant enhancements to our SU in recent years, which has seen us rise 8 places this year in the National Student Survey and 27 places over the past two years. We believe this is due to our ethos of creating change together.
Despite our enhancements, we know that there is still much more to do to realise our full potential. We want to continue to grow our levels of student engagement, diversify our income streams, and ensure that inclusion is at the heart of all that we do.
Our ideal candidate is approachable, inclusive, and collaborative. We believe emotional intelligence and experience of working with small but mighty teams with challenging budgets will be critical to the success of our Chief Executive.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking their first Chief Executive role. We also encourage leaders from outside of the student movement to consider this opportunity. We welcome applications from all candidates, especially from people traditionally underrepresented in leadership.

Animal welfare is in crisis. Could you help us stem the tide of cats and dogs being abandoned or given up for adoption?
If you have experience of working in the community, ideally with young people and marginalised groups, we have a fantastic opportunity to manage and develop our education and outreach work.
The pandemic pet boom, poor breeding practices and the rising cost of living mean that rescue centres, like Bath Cats and Dogs Home, are contending with unprecedented numbers of animals with complex medical and behavioural problems.
But it doesn’t need to be this way. By working in the community, we can address the problems before they reach crisis point.
We believe that every cat and dog should have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy life and a happy home. If pets are wanted and cared for then we’ll help them remain in their loving homes, which is why we’re expanding our outreach services, giving support to struggling pet owners when it is most needed.
The Education and Outreach Manager will work directly with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to manage existing projects and to shape and develop new initiatives. You’ll work in partnership with education providers, community groups and charities to ensure that Bath Cats and Dogs Home’s expertise and resources are directed to those most in need, and where we’ll have the biggest impact for animal welfare.
In return you’ll be part of a passionate and driven team. We commit to being kind, inspirational, dedicated, open and honest, and expert. If our values match your own, and you are inspired by the work that we do, then we’d love to hear from you.

-
Passion for the outdoors and youth development – You understand the importance of giving vulnerable young people outdoor experiences and are willing to put on your waterproofs and join in on our activities and camps to witness first-hand the difference the Youth Adventure Trust makes.
-
Willingness to learn - if you think you have what it takes but don’t have lots of experience as a Trusts Fundraiser, this role comes with plenty of scope to develop your writing skills and gain experience within a supportive team environment.
