For September 2024, we have just established a students’ union space in MDX House, the home of student life on campus. Our Head of Engagement and Influence will lead the charge to harness mass engagement from our students in extra and intracurricular opportunities so that they can develop the skills, networks and communities to influence their education and shape their futures.
Leading a directorate of 9 full time staff, and supporting three full time student officers as well as 100s of student leaders, you will help staff and students develop communities and campaigns approaches that ensure students are shaping their education, their communities and their lives. The successful candidate will have excellent coaching and mentoring skills and be able to put them to use to develop staff and our full time officers, growing and developing their teams to reach new heights. You will have the skills to build systems, processes and projects to ensure that students have excellent support and opportunities, with the ability to lead the team to achieve our vision for Engagement and Influence.
We are looking for someone who will go the extra mile for students, who is passionate and committed to the impact MDXSU can have on our students’ futures. You’ll be a great communicator, a team player and relish the opportunity to work directly with students every day.
Due to our new Progression Framework, the successful postholder will get the opportunity to develop significantly throughout their time with MDXSU. You will be supported to take on challenging projects and opportunities that directly contribute to the skills you need for the rest of your career, including access to a free MBA or equivalent masters’ level qualification with paid study time. Through quarterly reviews, and a structured progression plan, the most successful candidates could move from the entry point of the band to the top of the pay scale in as little as 18 months.
Like all SU staff, the Head of Engagement and Influence also shares responsibility for supporting the work of our elected student officers and delivering against key projects, such as welcome week activity, SU elections and feeding into the wider work of the SU and the university.

Job Location: 3 days based at a School in Greenwich, 2 days working from home.
The charity’s mission is to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition and in-school mentoring. The University Access Officer mentors GCSE students, delivering group workshops, mentoring and coaching them on how to access and transition to university.
This is an exciting opportunity to foster mentoring relationships with students who will likely be encountering such support for the first time. This allows for early intervention, guiding the students to make decisions which will lead to successful and fulfilling choices at a top third university. The University Access Officer is in a position to open up a world of opportunities to the students which is extremely rewarding.
Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with students in school and enrolling them onto the programme
- Matching students with volunteer tutors
- Monitoring student attendance to tutorials and devising innovative solutions to encourage attendance
- Assessing student progress towards being able to make successful university applications
- Uploading information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
- Building and managing relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
- Working with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
- Chairing and presenting at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
- Supporting the delivery of tutor training and attend university site visits, approximately 3 times a year including occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings. Paid time off in lieu is provided.
The successful candidate will be able to communicate and influence with impact at all levels, delivering projects and managing administration accurately. You must be skilled in building and maintaining excellent relationships, be resilient and adaptable and have the ability to lead and manage change to embed the programme in schools.

Working to support the Senior Development Manager, Trusts and Foundations; the Development Officer, Trusts and Foundations will help to deliver the trust and foundation fundraising strategy. The post-holder will work alongside Development colleagues to identify funding opportunities both in the UK and internationally. About the role
The Donor Relations Officer is a key role within the Development Office at the University of London. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a best practice programme of stewardship, donor engagement and recognition for the University of London’s donors, ensuring sustainability and growth of the donor base. This work involves creating a rewarding donor experience and managing donor communications, organising high-level donor stewardship activities and coordinating fundraising activities to support the mission and goals of the University.
Who are we looking for?
You will come experienced in delivering a successful programme of stewardship, in the charity or higher education sectors, and a working knowledge and experience of handling confidential information. We need someone with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with high profile individuals, and thus excellent communication skills in terms of written and spoken English is needed. You will have excellent relationship management skills, including the ability to work closely and collegiately with colleagues as part of a team and across a wider organisation. Experience of building and managing mutually beneficial partnerships and networks, both internally and externally, to create opportunities for the University, is also sought. Overall purpose
This is a key role that will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager, Head of Public Engagement and Senior Digital Marketing Manager.
You will contribute to the implementation of our communications, engagement and fundraising strategies, ensuring that your work is anchored in our organisational and team strategic goals. You will also be closely involved in team planning, whether it’s inputting into our operational plan or sharing ideas for new campaigns.

The post holder will both provide the day-to-day bookkeeping support for our busy finance function as well as providing administrative support for our two Boards and their various Sub Committees.
The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, numeracy and communication skills, will be self-motivated, will enjoy managing competing workloads, and working collaboratively across broad groups of internal and external stakeholders.
