What we are looking for
As a small charity we have a committed and enthusiastic team of employees and volunteers on the ground who work to support our young people and their carers. As Roots looks to expand its work and programmes, we are seeking to enhance our board in order to embed a new strategic plan and provide support to the growing number of employees.
We are specifically interested in trustees who have experience in any of the following areas to strengthen our existing skills set.

We are particularly keen this time to recruit Trustees with relevant lived experience, such as care leavers and kinship carers.
We also encourage applications from young, disabled or Welsh speakers, and people that live in Swansea and the surrounding areas, as these groups are currently under represented on our Board. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.
We are also particularly interested in recruiting a Treasurer. As the organisation grows and receives more funding, it is important that we have a Trustee experienced in financial management, who can oversee the accounts and budgets as well as advising on the financial implications of the new strategic plan.
Role on Trustee board:

To oversee the strategic development and growth of the charity in line with its aims and objectives.

To support events and be an active and contributing member of the trustee board and its activities.

To take the lead in agreed areas, working with sub groups that could include employees and feedback to the wider board.
Commitment required:
We meet as a Board every two months, usually on a Tuesday at 5pm for 2 hours. The Trustees will be provided with the relevant papers in advance of meetings, preparation and reading for the meeting usually takes about an hour.
There is an expectation that Trustees are available for 80% of these meetings (ie 5 per year) and to undertake agreed tasks outside of these times. The monthly commitment is approximately 6 hours per month, including meetings and meeting preparation.
The Trustees also meet twice a year in person at Roots, usually in the spring for half a day and autumn for a full day.
We are seeking Trustees that will also be visible and engage in activities at certain times of the year, for example celebrating successes, supporting activities such as trips with young people and be public facing where agreed to promote the organisation. One Trustee per month is expected to visit Roots, for visibility and to help support the staff and young people.

Reimbursement / allowance entitlement.
Trustees will be entitled to mileage allowance and other reasonable expenses to attend meetings in person and take part in agreed activities.

Home-Start helps families with young children through their challenging times. We support families in the boroughs of Barnet, Brent and Harrow who are facing issues such as loneliness, isolation, financial difficulties, anxiety, post-natal depression, ill health, multiple births or disabilities. About the Role:

Job Description Chair of Trustees
Introduction
The Lucy Rayner Foundation (LRF) is a charity set up in May 2013 by the Rayner family after the loss of daughter and sister Lucy to suicide. The LRF is an organisation that supports young people to deal with their mental health issues and provides them with tools and techniques to improve and maintain their mental health in the long term. This is done through education, training and support services.
Mental health has reached an all-time high and the demand for our services is increasing every day. We became incorporated in July 2022 to grow the charity to meet those demands and we have ambitious plans for 2024/25.
Currently we are without a Chairperson due to unforeseen circumstances and we are now looking for a dynamic leader to help steer the Charity in the years ahead.
The Role
The Chair will lead the Board in its role to ensure that the clear strategic direction of the charity is met as laid out in the regulatory framework, that governs LRF through its compliance, financial management and people performance.
The Chair will also support and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive, use effective collaboration, constructive engagement within the Board and between the Board Members and support with the management team, staff and volunteers where necessary.
The Chair should also act as an Ambassador and the public face of the charity as part of the LRF external communications efforts. The Chair also line-manages the Chief Executive with governance and HR procedures.
Time Commitment - Four Board meetings a year and Chair the meetings and is to hold regular meetings with the Chief Executive by agreement.

Terms: - 3 years (there will be a three month probationary period following the appointment

Bright Shadow is a creative organisation where people with dementia and our supporters live well and enjoy making our own high-quality art in Kent and Medway. As we continue to build upon and develop our ambitious work, we are seeking a new Chair of Trustees to join our existing board, alongside new trustees including those living with dementia.
Who are we looking for?
In conducting a wide search, we’re hoping there will be people who put themselves forward that we may never otherwise have been in touch with. We are keen to hear from people with lived experience of dementia, whilst also recognising that other life experiences may give you insights and understanding that could help the organisation to develop.

Recompense: This is a voluntary position; Bright Shadow reimburses expenses incurred whilst carrying out trustee duties.
Personal development: Training, support, and mentoring are available to all trustees.
Key responsibilities as a trustee:
- Champion the values and work of Bright Shadow, including but not limited to our position as a disability equality driven, anti-racist organisation
- Ensure that Bright Shadow pursues our stated objects (purposes), as defined in our Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) governing document, and does so complying with relevant charity law
- Ensure that Bright Shadow runs well, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
- Ensure our financial stability through good governance
- Bring strategic influencing skills and contacts
And additionally, as Chair:
- Provide leadership to the organisation and the board
- Chair and facilitate board meetings, including agenda setting with the Chief Executive

About the Role
As a result of increased awareness and signposting for individuals receiving a positive CACNA1C diagnosis, our community is increasing in size. Therefore, we are seeking new Trustees who will take an active role in the board, bringing new skills and ideas for how to support our community, advocating for improvement to CACNA1C diagnosis, outcomes and quality of life and to support CACNA1C research initiatives.
Our new Trustees will be responsible for setting the overall strategy and direction for TSA, as well as monitoring the charity’s activity to evaluate progress towards our objectives and goals.
This can include making sure the charity complies with regulations, overseeing financial management and monitoring financial performance, creating and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate risk, and supporting the charity’s operations. Whilst representing the charity externally, there will also be plenty of opportunities to advocate for TSA’s mission of supporting individuals and families affected by CACNA1C-related disorders and raising awareness for this rare disease.

How big is the current Board and what opportunities might there be in the future?

The board currently consists of 7 Trustees. As the charity’s turnover continues to grow, they are currently going through an evolution in their structure and the operations of the charity. This means the new Trustees will be presented with enormous opportunities to shape the future of the charity and to play a leading role on the board moving forward. As a result, it is expected that there will be an opportunity for a new Trustee to develop into the Chair of Trustees role soon.
What are you looking for in candidates?

As a small team, we are ideally seeking those who have prior experience of being a Trustee at a UK based charity or working within the UK charity sector, who can bring demonstratable experience of navigating the challenges that face small charities.However, we also welcome applications from candidates with an interest in or prior knowledge of charity law and compliance; the change management process; volunteer management; financial planning, processing and auditing; regulatory or policy issues; data management or fundraising. UK based candidates are preferred, however this is not essential.
What time commitment do you expect from Trustees?

As well as our Board of Trustees meetings, which currently take place 4 times a year, we ask Trustees to dedicate around 2 hours per week to the work of the charity. However, this may fluctuate during busy or quiet periods.

Absolutely! We are working in the rare diseases space and raising awareness is one of our key goals. Therefore, we have plenty of resources that can help you to learn more about this disorder and how it affects our community. We just ask that people have a passion for helping people and improving patient outcomes.

About the Charity
The Timothy Syndrome Alliance (TSA) is a charity set up to improve diagnosis, treatment and care of individuals with CACNA1C-related disorders, including Timothy Syndrome and LongQT8, and to support the families and carers of those diagnosed worldwide. The charity it is run entirely by families and volunteers, who work with scientists, researchers and medical professionals.

The Merchant’s House is embarking on an exciting new phase as we embed our new strategic plan, having opened for full visitor access for the first time in 2024. As the Merchant’s House looks to expand its work and programmes with improved visitor experiences, education, and events, we are seeking to enhance our board.
We are seeking two additional trustees who can bring experience in the following specific areas:
1) A trustee with practical experience and knowledge of the Museum or Heritage sector, to help guide our work to process our collections, improve interpretation and visitor experience, seek grant funding, and achieve Museum Accreditation. This Trustee will also sit on our Heritage Committee.
2) A trustee with retail or visitor services experience, to help guide direction for our gift shop, located in the ground floor of the House and a vital part of our revenue generation. As we embark on a new phase of visitor access, we need to breathe fresh life into our shop and ensure it is both commercially viable and supports the overall visitor experience to the historic house. This Trustee will also be a director of our Limited Trading Company.
Role on Trustee board:
· To oversee the strategic development and growth of the charity in line with its aims and objectives.
· To take an active lead in your agreed areas, agreeing short and long term objectives and ensuring the delivery of results.
· To be part of the Museum’s active management, working with other trustees and paid staff, running the museum as a business.
· To work effectively with other Trustees, employees and volunteers to improve the Trust’s operations and activities.

NEW TRUSTEES WANTED FOR AGE UK MERTON BOARD
Age UK Merton is an independent charity operating within the national Age UK network. We provide services for older adults in the London Borough of Merton in south west London. Our role is to ensure that older adults can easily access the support, services and care they need and to help older adults to live active and fulfilling lives. Our comprehensive services are specifically designed to support older people and reach around 3,000 Merton residents a year.
Age UK Merton has a strong and diverse Board comprising a group of Trustees from a wide variety of backgrounds. We are interested in hearing from individuals who believe they have skills and experience to make a valuable contribution to the Board. The new Trustees will join the Board at the AGM in November 2024.

Role description
Trustees have a number of core duties, including ensuring the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and relevant legislation; ensuring it pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document; actively contributing to the Board in giving strategic direction to the organisation; ensuring the financial stability of the organisation; and ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
In addition, Trustees should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions, including by scrutinising Board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues and working on sub-committees.
Commitment required
Trustees have a significant responsibility within the organisation, so it is important that you can commit time to read and consider papers and reports, attend meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making. Trustees meet a minimum of five times a year. We alternate between in-person and remote meetings. We also have sub-committees which meet several times a year. Trustees are expected to devote the necessary time to ensure they are fully prepared to actively participate in all meetings.
