WSUK is a small national charity based in West Sussex that supports children, young people and adults affected by Wolfram Syndrome (WS) and their parents/wider families. WS is an ultra-rare genetic disorder which causes a complex range of symptoms, including diabetes mellitus, vision problems, renal problems, deafness, and neurological problems. WSUK provides current, accurate and family-friendly information, raises awareness of WS among health professionals and the public, and helps to fund WS research.
WSUK Treasurer
The WSUK Board is seeking to recruit a Treasurer to complement and extend the range of skills and experience of its current members. This voluntary role will maintain an overview of WSUK’s activities to ensure its financial viability and that proper financial procedures are maintained. Through active participation in quarterly Board meetings (on-line), this role will help WSUK to achieve its ambitions to continue to develop the activities and services it delivers to the WS community.
Skills and experience
WSUK is seeking a treasurer who is committed and motivated to help lead this small, but growing charity. Some financial experience and skills are needed, along with good independent judgement, an ability to communicate clearly and a team-oriented approach. You will become an important part of a dynamic charity, and you will be able to see how your involvement, skills and experience, directly benefit the people living with this challenging, ultra-rare condition.

Treasurer role description
Summary of the role:
The overall role of the Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s affairs, ensure its financial viability and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
Overall responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Treasurer include:
· Overseeing and approving budgets, accounts and financial statements.
· Ensuring proper records are kept and effective financial procedures and controls are in place.
· Regularly reporting the financial position at Board meetings (e.g. quarterly reports), drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way.

Experience and skills:
The treasurer should have the following qualities:
· Financial experience. (e.g. as a Financial Director, Financial controller or qualified accountant).
· Financial analytical and evaluation skills.
· Good, independent judgement and strong leadership skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly.
· A team-oriented approach to problem solving and to management.
· Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
· A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort and be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis.

This is a voluntary position although all reasonable expenses are paid (in line with the WSUK expenses policy).

Time commitment
· The Board meets around 4 times per year, held virtually in the evening.
· The AGM is typically held as a face-to-face meeting on a Saturday afternoon in / near Worthing, West Sussex.
· Attendance at fundraising events and the Wolfram Syndrome annual conference is optional.

About the role.
We are looking for a new trustee with senior experience in an organisation supporting people experiencing homelessness and/or disadvantaged young people. This person will be contributing as a key member of our trustee Board with a particular focus on our grant giving and how we direct our funds to organisations creating longer-term impact in our areas of focus.
As a proactive grantmaker, we are always looking to refine and develop our grant-giving activity. You will play a key part in helping us think through and advise on grant-giving opportunities, bringing your insights and understanding to inform our grant-giving activity.

Financial Oversight:

Budgeting:
- Scrutinise the proposed annual budget, and advise and guide the Board accordingly
- Scrutinise management accounts, performance against budget, trading performance etc, and to advise the Board accordingly
- Scrutinise and regularly evaluate the charity’s cash flow position, and to inform the Board of any concerns
- Review longer term forecasts of capital resources and of income and expenditure
Reporting:
- Work with the Business Director to formally present the accounts to the Annual General Meeting drawing to members’ attention all relevant matters, and to respond to questions from the floor
Compliance:
- Ensure that the charity operates within the financial guidelines set out in current legislation, by the Charity Commission, in the charity’s constitution and by the Board Record Keeping
Fund Management:
- Ensure that funding received for specific purposes is separately accounted for and spent for the purposes for which it was given
Audit:
- Ensure that the charity has adequate financial and internal audit controls and that these are monitored and reviewed regularly
- Meet the external auditor as required
Policy Development:
- To ensure that all financial policies, procedures and the appointment of external financial advisors are reviewed on a regular basis
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including documentation for all income expenses and donations

They champion the people we support, promote the charity and its work and bring expertise in order to purposefully develop Causeway and its impact. The Charities Act 1993 defines charity trustees as those responsible under the charity's governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. At Causeway the charity trustees are the board of directors and are known as the trustee board.
Who are we looking for?
Causeway are looking to recruit a Treasurer to the Board who is willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and support the strategic growth of the charity. We are particularly looking for our Treasurer to have:
• A relevant accounting qualification.
• Experience of charity accounting and relevant accounting standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the trustee board is to receive assets from our partners and donors, safeguard them and apply them to the charitable purposes of Causeway. The trustee board must always act in the best interests of the charity, exercising the same standard of duty of care that a prudent person would apply if looking after the affairs of someone for whom they have responsibility.
The legal responsibilities of a trustee are to:
· Ensure that Causeway complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
· Ensure that Causeway pursues its objects as defined in its governing document
· Ensure Causeway applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
· Contribute actively to the board of trustees by providing strategic direction, setting overall policy, and defining goals and targets
· Ensure the financial stability of Causeway
· Safeguard the good name of Causeway, scrutinise board papers and other key communications
In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee will use their specialist skills, knowledge and experience to identify key issues, provide advice and guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership team, and help improve the decision making of the trustees board.
· Our trustees will seek to promote Causeway, drawing upon their strategic contacts and networks and supporting fundraising efforts in order to maximise the charity’s impact and brand.
Trustee Criteria (skills and expertise)
Each trustee must be:
· Support and provide advice on Causeway’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
· Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
· Oversee Causeway’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

· Provide support and challenge to the CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.

Specific responsibilities as Treasurer:

We are looking for a Fundraising Trustee that can take our fundraising to the next level. The limb reconstruction process can be long, painful and challenging for patients' mental health. Rebuild has exciting plans to expand our psychological support for these patients but we need the help of an experienced fundraiser to do this.

We are seeking a suitably experienced and passionate individual to join our Board of Trustees. The role is voluntary and unpaid. Reasonable expenses will be paid by agreement.
Primarily the purpose is to ensure that Controlling Chemsex delivers for the public good within regulatory obligations. The specific expertise required of this role in addition to the above, is to ensure that Controlling Chemsex has a robust and achievable fundraising strategy to maintain and grow its services working in close collaboration with our part-time Development Lead. We are particularly focussed on the growth of Controlling Chemsex.
We are looking for people with sound fundraising and voluntary/community sector experience who have the skills required to devise a robust and achievable fundraising strategy for Controlling Chemsex. The role will require an ability to take on board service data and evidence of need, capacity and requirements, with an understanding of Controlling Chemsex’s vision for future service delivery growth. This will be complemented by a clear grasp of funding contexts in London and the UK from which Controlling Chemsex might seek to secure financial support for services.
We require excellent fundraising experience and knowledge of Trust & Foundation sector practices and methods including planning; scheduling work; gaining long-term funding and/or cycles of funding –considering sustainability and development of services.Knowledge of other types of fundraising would be an asset e.g. individual donors, crowdfunding, campaign fundraising.
The applicant must have an unequivocal commitment to respect, support, promote and work within LGBTQ+ and other diverse communities, recognising intersectionality and multiple marginalisation, especially as it relates to trans and racially minoritised communities.

3. Good financial acumen and a grasp of methods and practices in Trusts and Foundations
4. Good commercial awareness
5. Strong influencing and negotiating skills and an ability to positively present and promote the work of Controlling Chemsex
6. Experience of developing excellent working relationships with a wider team (fundraising manager, key staff, CEO, Board of Directors)
7. Previous experience in the charity/ community sector, ideally in a senior management or executive position, or equivalent experience
8. A demonstrably genuine interest in, understanding of, and commitment to a public service ethos and public service delivery
9. Prepared to challenge positively
10. A minimum of 2 hours per week time investment as well as some quality control support with our part-time Development Lead.
