We are looking for an experienced leader to:
- Help ensure that the charity’ external and internal audit functions are operating efficiently and effectively
- Ensure that the risk management process adopted by the charity enables the identification of key risks as well as internal controls to mitigate these risks.
- Help the charity in maintaining adequate and effective financial controls and processes.
We are seeking someone who is a committed Christian with a track record of being an effective Chair with extensive experience of audit and risk management frameworks to help mature the Board’s exercise of stewardship, helping trustees and clergy without financial management experience understand and participate in this aspect of their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance and Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all activities within Barawak adhere to the highest standards of governance and compliance, as set by our trustees and in accordance with relevant regulations and laws. Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of policies and procedures that are the foundation of our operational excellence.
2. Secretariat Functions: Act as the primary point of contact for trustees and advisors, managing communications, preparing meeting agendas, and ensuring the accurate recording of actions and decisions. Your meticulous attention to detail and planning will ensure the smooth running of board meetings and the timely dissemination of information.
3. Performance Reporting: Lead the development and implementation of a robust performance reporting framework. You will work closely on behalf of the trustees, with the advisors, programme and vertical leads to establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), providing insights and reports that drive strategic decisions and demonstrate our impact to stakeholders and the community we serve.
4. Cross-functional Coordination: Facilitate and report on the monthly programme reviews with the Board of Trustees, quarterly advisory meetings, and annual general meetings. Your role involves supporting the programme and verticals leads to synthesize information from the services and verticals to provide a cohesive picture of Barawak's progress and challenges.
5. Continuous Improvement: Champion the use of feedback mechanisms, including surveys and community input, to refine our programmes and initiatives. Action for Stammering Children (ASC) is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person to join our Trustee Board as Treasurer to replace our current Treasurer who has sadly come to the end of his term.
Who are Action for Stammering Children?
Action for Stammering Children is the UK charity for children and young people who stammer, their families, and the communities who support them. We are a small charity, founded in 1989, but one that punches above its weight and with Dr Ria Bernard, who joined us as Chief Executive in 2022, we have big ambitions!
We’re here to make sure that every child who stammers has the support, respect and confidence to live the life they want to lead.
We support and empower parents, caregivers and professionals; facilitate and champion research; and campaign for changes in policy and societal attitudes
What do we do?
Information, community and support
We provide resources, advice and guidance for children and young people who stammer, their families, and the professionals who support them.
Changing policies and attitudes
We make sure the voices of children and young people who stammer are heard. We work with politicians and other decision makers to ensure the unique needs of children who stammer are reflected in public policy. But we know we can’t stop there. That’s why we campaign to challenge prejudices and misconceptions, seeking to change how society treats stammering and promote acceptance.
Championing research
We support and promote research into childhood stammering in order to build understanding and feed into our advocacy work, informing positive changes in policy and practice.
Our team
ASC currently has a staff team of three (one of whom is part-time) but we hope shortly to recruit a part-time book-keeper and an events co-ordinator, in order to be able to deliver on our ambitious strategic objectives.
Our Board of Trustees has been chaired by Dame Jane Roberts since 2021. With a number of trustees having come to the end of their term, we have had a number of trustees join the board recently including a new Company Secretary and two new trustees who had previously been members of ASC’s Youth Panel. With the Chair, the Company Secretary has been reviewing our governance to ensure that we conduct ourselves in line with best practice in charity governance. The Youth Panel is made up of young people who themselves stammer and who inform our strategic direction as well as engage in projects of their own. Our Annual Report for 2022-23 is available on the Charity Commission website, in addition to Trustees’ Reports for previous years.
Executive and Non-Executive, we are a professional but friendly bunch who would extend a warm welcome to a new Treasurer as well as ensure that there was a generous handover period with the current Treasurer.
Who are we looking for as Treasurer?
We would like to attract a qualified accountant, perhaps still working, perhaps recently retired. You might have a personal connection to stammering but this is not required. Your interest, enthusiasm and experience are the most important.

Role description of the Treasurer
Purpose
- To monitor the financial matters of the organisation and report to the Board of trustees at regular intervals on its financial health in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing document and legal requirements
- To oversee arrangements for risk management and ensure that these are adequate to organisational need, governance requirements and legal obligations.
Main responsibilities:
- Oversee the framework of internal controls and, in conjunction with the Company Secretary and Chair, the charity’s policies, procedures and delegated responsibilities in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements
- Oversee and review the preparation of budgets, management accounts and the annual financial statements, ensuring that they are brought regularly and in a timely manner to the Board
- Monitor and advise on the financial viability of the charity, including the adequacy and use of charitable reserves and other funds

What will you be doing?

Share was founded in 1972 by a group of physically disabled adults who were facing barriers to work. We now primarily work with adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs because this group still faces the most significant barriers to work, education and training and suffers from significant health and societal inequalities.
We are based in South London. We work out of two training centres, in Battersea and Brixton, a garden – in Tooting – and a community café and sports hub in Vauxhall. We provide a range of programmes, activities and qualifications aimed at supporting our students to live happier, healthier and more independent lives.
Our vision is to live in a world where disabled adults are genuinely valued and included, can make choices and have the freedom to achieve their ambitions. We currently work with 178 students each week, and also provide support for their families and carers.
About the role.
Share is seeking a Chair of our Board of Trustees, who will work alongside the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team and other Trustees to ensure the charity delivers its mission and vision. Supported by the sub-committee chairs, the Chair of Trustees ensures that the Board has oversight of the Charity’s governance and strategic direction.
Who we are looking for.
The Chair will role model Share’s organisational values of respect, support, ambition, kindness, integrity and inclusivity and be committed to reducing the social injustice disabled people face.
You will have a successful track record as a senior leader, with experience at board level (either as a Trustee or Company Director). You will be comfortable chairing meetings and events and will promote a collaborative team environment.
In addition, you will be a confident ambassador, able to advocate for Share’s work and the students it supports to a wide range of audiences.

- Time Commitment

Key tasks

- Work closely with the board of trustees the People Team Lead to ensure they are kept up to date with safeguarding issues and are fully informed of any concerns about organisational safeguarding practice.

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. Introduction to the Marketing, Outreach, and Advocacy vertical Lead role:
The Marketing, Outreach, and Advocacy Lead is the driving force behind Barawak’s communication, its brand identity and public presence. This strategic role involves developing and implementing marketing and outreach initiatives to amplify Barawak's mission and to advocate for the Afro-Hebrew community. It requires collaboration with trustees and programme leads to ensure consistent messaging and effective advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Marketing and Outreach:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and outreach strategy that promotes Barawak’s mission, programs, and events.
• Utilize a multi-channel approach, including social media, local press, and community events, to raise awareness and engage diverse audiences.
2. Advocacy Campaigns:
• Craft and lead advocacy campaigns that support Barawak’s strategic objectives and service lines, ensuring the community's voice is heard on critical issues.
• Build relationships with media outlets and influencers to enhance Barawak’s visibility and impact.
3. Support to Trustees:
• Provide the Board of Trustees with strategic marketing insights and advocacy support, enabling informed decision-making.
• Ensure trustees are kept informed of marketing and advocacy efforts and outcomes, aligning with Barawak’s governance and strategic plans.
4. Programme-Specific Outreach:
• Tailor marketing and advocacy efforts to support the unique goals of each Barawak programme, from Poverty Relief to Sports and Wellness.
• Collaborate with programme leads to highlight success stories, key initiatives, and opportunities for community involvement.
5. Brand Management:
• Oversee Barawak’s brand identity and messaging across all platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment with organizational values.
• Develop marketing materials and campaigns that resonate with the community and stakeholders.
6. Performance Analysis:
• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and advocacy initiatives, using data-driven insights to refine strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:

WIP is a national charity dedicated to making a difference to the lives of women affected by the criminal justice system. We campaign for a new system of justice; one that addresses the root causes of offending (including homelessness, harmful substance use, mental ill health and experiences of poverty, trauma and abuse).
Our Women’s Centres and the services we provide in communities in Manchester, London and Surrey and in prisons deliver trauma-informed, holistic, women-centred support to enable those whom we work with to address the complex challenges they face
Who are we looking for
A Treasurer who will take the lead in financial governance and in shaping our financial strategy, supporting our Director of Finance and Resources in financial forecasting and budgets, and in liaising with our auditors. Our end of year accounts are externally audited. We expect our Treasurer to have finance experience, to be able to understand accounts, be able to comment on our financial records and financial strategy and communicate effectively on these matters with other trustees. It would be helpful if you have experience of charity finance, but it is not essential.
The Board meets 4 times per year and has one away day each year. The Treasurer is also expected to Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee 4 times a year and have regular meetings with the leadership team of Women in Prison to specifically advise on finance
We are looking for someone who can commit to being the treasurer for at least three years.
The role will require you
- To participate in collaborative decision making with the board of trustees and leadership team of Women in Prison to set the strategic direction of the charity
- To work in active partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Finance and Resources on financial forecasting, budgets, reserves policy, risks and controls, liaison with auditors, and advising and supporting to ensure robust financial management of the organisation
- Communicate financial, audit and risk information to the board and leadership team in a way that brings it alive to non-financial specialists
- Ensure that finances are considered appropriately throughout all strands of the Board’s work and highlight areas of financial risks to be considered and managed
- Represent Women in Prison at external meetings as appropriate
You will have
- Commitment to anti-racism and intersectional feminism
- A finance professional, ideally with knowledge of charity finance
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest in the work of Women in Prison and willingness to visit programmes in the community and prison
- Experience of networking, and influencing
- Ability to analyse information and data
- Understanding of the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship

Social Anxiety Alliance UK is a young and developing charity looking for an experienced Treasurer with a background in financial management and accounting who can also help us to find funding and grants to continue the charity's development. The Treasurer will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial administration of the charity and will have a good understanding of charity finance and potential funding/grant awarding bodies. The Treasurer would also need to be willing to be a Trustee and aware of the governance issues relating to such a role.
Social anxiety involves an excessive fear of social situations. Sufferers will often fear being embarrassed or worry about being negatively evaluated by others. Anticipatory anxiety and situational avoidance are common, and individuals may endure social situations with a high level of discomfort. The scope of the anxiety may be focused on specific types of social situations or generalised to almost any social encounter.
We are the first UK charity dedicated to Social Anxiety.
We are a friendly board and we hold our meetings monthly online in the evening. Getting involved will mean that you can work with us to ensure financial sustainability, maximise income through grant applications and to set the strategic direction for the charity. You will also work with the Board to ensure that the charity operates within regulatory requirements and to develop projects which will help the charity to achieve its mission and goals.
