Schools’ Project Officer Coordinator (4-5 days per week)

Who we are

We are a small, lively and expanding charity promoting the personal development of young people in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult free. We invite students (usually in groups) to develop their own challenges, something they want to do but which is well outside their ‘comfort zones’ and to be responsible for every stage of them: we provide planning support, risk management, and expenses funding. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, performed plays at school, harnessed green power via a bike, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects.   

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate to coordinate our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s. We are at an exciting stage of growth, now in 20% of London schools, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners.  We are looking for competent leader, ideally with experience of risk and physical challenge, and strong administrative skills, who is comfortable working with schools. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £30,000 – £35,000 pa pro rata depending on experience. Flexible working considered.

As Head of Development, you will be a key member of a small team. Reporting to the incoming Chief Executive, you will develop and implement the preexisting fundraising strategy and guide the organisation’s communications and PR strategy. You will inherit a strategically developed portfolio of relationships and income streams, with particular strengths in trusts and foundations, and a strong network of individual donors and scope to build corporates. There is also a small but growing legacy circle, created in response to a recent bequest of £1M+. You will line manage a small team of two: the Development & Communications Coordinator, and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. With ambitions to expand upon NYJO’s existing work, your ability to set and achieve more ambitious targets will be essential.

Please note that this role will require occasional travel that will vary across the year, depending on the events calendar. Travel is likely to be required twice per month - please discuss with Joe Blythe at QuarterFive. 

As Head of Development, you will:

• Develop and implement the existing fundraising strategy and develop marketing and communications efforts, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging to effectively engage donors and stakeholders
• Deliver a high standard of supporter care and relationship management tailored to the level of giving, including nurturing their successful new Legacy Club
• Manage and attend an annual series of fundraising events, from relaxed open days to formal receptions
• Oversee NYJO marketing and communications
• Line manage the Development & Communications Coordinator and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Experience of securing 5- and 6-figure grants from a range of trust, statutory and/or individual sources
• Tailoring applications to appeal to a diverse range of funders/donors, which may include drawing together distinct areas of activity to create bespoke packages
• An outgoing, approachable, confident and professional manner in dealing with donors, prospects and other stakeholders
• Interest in UK Jazz and enthusiasm for working with young artists and musicians and broadening access to participatory arts for all young people

About the Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP)

The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. We offer specialised treatment in the areas of depression, suicide prevention, tackling self-harm, eating disorders, exam anxiety and more. Our approach is rooted in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. We aim to reach significantly more young people in the years ahead, drawing on our heritage that combines specialist treatment in-house and outreach into communities. The Brent Centre is also an important Research Centre on Adolescent Breakdown and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

Fundraising at BCYP

BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.

In this exciting newly created role, you will be responsible for helping to grow our income from grant- makers to design and promote funding opportunities, and to steward relationships with supporters through the giving cycle. We are looking for a fundraiser with at least three to four years of experience in identifying prospects and grant-writing, and who has experienced success in securing funds. Vitally, we want to recruit an individual who is as committed to Brent’s vision, and who will work with us to help us be there for young people in the coming years.

The Student Voice Facilitator will work within the Student Voice team to develop and deliver innovative representation practices, ensuring our members can exercise their student voice and influence university decision-making. This will be focused on Student Futures, a large-scale transformation portfolio King’s College London is undertaking. Student Futures aims to improve student experiences in key areas across the next three years. These areas include improving core processes and systems for education delivery; ensuring the university is able to provide proactive and personalised support for student wellbeing; and delivering a distinct, valuable extraand co-curricular student experience. At times, the post-holder will also be required to support other King’s Transformation Office programmes, such as Campus Futures, which is overseeing the development of King’s campus spaces and facilities in the next few years. This role is funded for the next three years, the planned timeline of the Student Futures portfolio.

Responsibilities include:

FACILITATING QUALITY REPRESENTATION PRACTICES:

• Facilitate representation practices within Student Futures, both in person and online, in line with KCLSU’s Student Voice Partnership Agreement and Student Voice Design Framework;
• Lead on development of innovative facilitation methods to foster collaborative, productive spaces for student participation that are fit to respond to the issue at hand;
• Create toolkits, guidance, and other training materials to support the facilitation skills development across KCLSU and King’s;
• Develop and deliver training on facilitation skills for KCLSU and King’s colleagues.

SERVICE DEVELOPMENT:

• Work with Student Voice colleagues to expand the capacity and reach of the team across King’s;
• Support the development and delivery of an evaluation process for the facilitation of student voice within projects or service areas, ensuring monitoring requirements are met in order to demonstrate impact and track progress over time;
• Represent KCLSU’s Student Voice team and promote the Student Voice Design Framework to King’s colleagues and other relevant stakeholders;
• Create and deliver training, guidance, and on-going support for Student Officers and other student representatives on facilitation, student voice, and related areas, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.

Leukaemia UK – Our Charity

 We are a ‘small but mighty’ charity with one big ambition: to stop leukaemia devastating lives. Over the next 10 years we want to help save and improve the lives of more people with leukaemia through finding and funding life-changing research.

Leukaemia UK and You 

This is a new part-time role combining operational management of our small office based in Central London, with supporting and developing the governance activities of an ambitious and growing charity.

Hands-on experience managing the operations of small to medium sized organisations is essential, particularly facilities and office management, health and safety, and IT (working with an outsourced IT Support provider).

You will support the CEO and Director of Finance & Resources with governance activities including preparing for and running board and sub-committee meetings. You will need to be a confident minute-taker with a good eye for detail, and have experience in collating high-quality board paper packs.

You will have an appetite to innovate and drive continuous improvement across your areas of responsibility, and as the only role on the team covering these functions, must love being hands-on and getting stuck in. In return, you will gain experience working closely with trustees and the leadership team, and gain understanding and insight into all aspects of running an ambitious and growing charity.

Providing the highest level of stewardship, you’ll ensure existing and new supporters feel valued, inspiring them to make five and six figure gifts, which will significantly improve the lives of men facing prostate cancer and their families. You’ll also harness the support of our enthusiastic and influential Trustees, Senior Volunteers and Leadership Team, involving them in ‘making the ask’, thanking, as well as attending events.

What we want from you

Gunnersbury Park is a beautiful public space between Acton, Brentford, Chiswick and Ealing in West London. Purchased for the nation from the Rothschild family, it was opened to the public by Neville Chamberlain in 1926. A major £50m restoration project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund was completed in 2018, the park and garden is Grade II listed.

The Charitable Trust’s aim is to make Gunnersbury an outstanding, sustainable green space, celebrating its unique heritage and providing a wide range of educational and cultural activities, events and facilities accessible to all members of the community. Also, to conserve, manage and develop Gunnersbury Estate as a sustainable, recreational, cultural, and educational resource for the benefit of, and in partnership with, all of its local communities.

We are delighted to be working with Gunnersbury Park Charitable Trust to recruit a new Group Administrator to join the team at this very exciting time in its development.

The role:

This key role in the Trust’s staff team will be reporting to the Head of Finance & Resources. The postholder will provide practical, administrative, project-management and communications support to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team. This person will additionally take the lead on the scheduling and minuting of governance meetings both for the Trust and its trading subsidiary, and will ensure efficient and smooth communications between the Trustees, SMT and the wider team.

The person:

The successful candidate will be a highly-organised individual with excellent prioritisation and time-management skills. They will have a excellent eye for detail and an ambition to improve processes and support the CEO and Chair of Trustees to enhance performance of employees and trustee boards through record-keeping and reporting, minute-taking, action-tracking, recording deadlines and monitoring contributions towards the Trust’s charitable purposes.

You will thrive in a mission-driven organisation, and understand the need to balance delivery of the Trust’s core charitable activities, with the CIC’s entrepreneurial spirit as it focusses on generating income to plough back into the historic estate at Gunnersbury and help keep the estate open to all, putting communities at the heart of everything they do.

This person will have significant experience of working in a similar role, ideally with knowledge of the charity sector. An interest in museums, heritage, education or parks and leisure would be an advantage as the Trust delivers a wide and varied range of facilities and activities for the communities of West London.

We are looking for an experienced finance manager to lead our finances. You will join the leadership team and support the Directors and Treasurer to run all the charity finance business.

The Deborah Ubee Trust (TDUT) is a thriving organisation supporting people with their mental health providing services in Lewisham, Greenwich, and Bexley London boroughs. Our services include provision of specialist therapeutic interventions and counselling.

About Love Barton 

Love Barton is a faith based charity established in 2022 to tackle systemic issues that keep people and families in poverty and to release them to flourish in all areas of life, focused on the Barton estate on the outskirts of Oxford. 

The charity originally grew from Barton Community Church and continues to operate in close partnership with this Church. 

About the Role

The focus of the role is to lead Love Barton during the Charity Manager’s maternity leave, managing the existing projects detailed below, as well as working with the Trustees on fundraising. 

Projects

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you. 

Your job would be to:

• Recruit, train and support volunteers

• Manage these projects to ensure they run smoothly and safely

Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton 

• Work with the trustees to identify funding streams to sustain the role and projects

• Lead all recruitment, training and management of volunteers including ensuring safeguarding training and DBS certificates are up to date 

• Line-manage any sessional staff

• Manage the budgets for each project, evaluating outcomes and supporting the reporting to funders and trustees 

• Meet regularly with the BCC leadership team to ensure a close partnership 

• Attend regular supervision and commit to personal development

As HR Business Partner, you will play a strategic role, acting as a partner to the senior leadership to enable us to deliver as effectively as possible to people with ME. You will work closely with the Management Team to drive this work. Key Duties

People & Culture Strategy

• Work with the senior leadership to deliver the People and Culture and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plans that enables the delivery of organisational goals
• Drive consistency of the implementation of the Plans
• Work with the senior leadership to review data, analyse trends, providing data-driven solutions/decisions to support cultural development. Use ongoing analysis to test the effectiveness of People and Culture interventions and processes within the organisation
• With senior leadership, manage talent and succession planning

Human Resource Management

• Provide first point of contact HR advice and support to colleagues and line managers, ensuring all instances are recorded appropriately
• Manage the compliant use of, and be first point of contact for, colleague queries on the HR IT System (currently BreatheHR)
• Support HR investigations and line managers with grievances, disciplinaries and other similar matters, recording meeting minutes and agreeing next steps.
• Liaise with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB; provides insurance and employment legal advice) on complex HR cases that require external input, either on behalf of or alongside relevant line manager(s)
• Oversee all HR policies and procedures, being guided by relevant internal data and industry best practice, and ensuring they are regularly reviewed
• Complete all required administrative tasks for new starters and colleagues leaving the organisation
• Processing and managing of maternity, paternity, and adoption in line with policies and best practice
• Running of monthly HR reports, to include sickness auditing and dissemination of relevant data to CEO and line managers, if required
• Scope, plan and book/deliver appropriate training across the organisation and for individual employees where necessary
• Managing the recruitment lifecycle, which is to include advertising of vacancies, screening of applicants, interview diary management, referencing and document checks, onboarding coordination
• Manage and administer all changes to contractual terms and conditions with appropriate paperwork disseminated to relevant parties
• Oversee HR support for volunteers, including Trustees and Sub-Committee Lay Members
• Oversee the organisation ‘Wellbeing Weekdays’ programme (a monthly programme to support colleague contact and wellbeing)
• Support change management processes

Business Support/Compliance  

• Contract management for Employee Assistance Programme
• Contract management for IT

Purpose of the post: You will be the sole role for the Charity’s finances and will support our small team in a vibrant, prolific and growing organisation which provides quality assurance and membership services to institutions delivering training, education and assessment in dance, drama and musical theatre.

Location: CDMT resides at Salters Hall, 4 London Wall Place, London EC2Y 5AU, and this role is office based. Salters Hall is located conveniently for Moorgate, Liverpool Street and Bank stations, and is accessible from street level and throughout the building.

Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm. The position encompasses one day a week, with a suggested working day of Wednesday. The hourly rate is between £20 - £22 depending on experience.

Essential requirements for this position:

· Accounting qualification part qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent, with experience

· Excellent Microsoft Office, Sage One and Sage 50 Skills

· Good communication skills to liaise with customers and suppliers, and the ability to assist with ad-hoc office administration as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain the General Ledger – raising invoices, issuing credit notes, allocating cash.

· Processing purchase invoices and paying, bank reconciliations, and credit control

• Running the monthly payroll for 4/5 people
• Reconciliation of all Balance sheet accounts
• Administer online banking, credit cards and the Paypal account
• Assist Director with the annual Budget
• Sending all the year-end information to the Independent Examiner
• Administer the company pension.

You will also be responsible for the production of the Management Accounts for the Board three times a year including:

• Profit and Loss compared to Budget
• Preparing the Balance Sheet
• Reports to Trustees
• Producing the above reports in keeping with Charity SORP accounting.

Together with responsibility for reporting to HMRC, Charity Commission, Companies House, Trustees, Independent Examiner and Banking organisations, you may also be requested to produce ad-hoc reports and carry out any other duties that are necessary to perform the role.
