About us:   

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes.

Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family; including overnight care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, home visits and much, much more. 

It costs around £6.5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. Statutory funding makes up 16% of this amount and the rest is raised through fundraising activity.

Our services include overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team supports these families in our modern, purpose-built building. All our rooms/bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.

We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use. 

The role:

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven individual to join our team as the Events Fundraiser teamed with a commercial sales focus. This role requires a unique blend of fundraising expertise and commercial acumen to drive our vision forward. To manage an engaging programme of supporter events at Bluebell Wood including budget forecasting and reconciliation.  

To plan and run a strong and successful events programme to raise substantial income and awareness across the Bluebell Wood catchment area, attracting different sections of the community including family members and corporates.

To be the leader and person in charge at all Bluebell Wood fundraising events and activities including third party and mass participation events. Additionally, this role will focus on developing commercial sales strategies to generate revenue through partnerships, sponsorships, and product sales. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both fundraising and sales, with a proven track record of achieving targets and building lasting relationships.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Income Generation and Engagement Team as an Assistant Community Fundraiser!

As an Assistant Community Fundraiser, you will play an integral part in supporting the Community Fundraising team to reach their annual income target. You will oversee the running of the Edinburgh fundraising office, including stock management and managing a small team of volunteers. About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Fundraiser to join our Community Fundraising team. Community is at the heart of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, and our community fundraising team play a vital role in building relationships and raising funds across our community and catchment. Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

As a key member of our Community Fundraising team, you will work closely with the Community Fundraising Manager on new and existing fundraising activities, helping to maintain and develop existing relationships and work proactively to identify new contacts and opportunities for development.  This is an exciting role, in a growing team within a charity that makes a huge impact across our communities. About the role:

This role is home-based and requires regular travel within the Cumberland West area, due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. A colleague in the Operations team will be taking maternity leave from late 2024 for approximately 10 months. The Role 
 
As our Deputy Shop Manager you will be responsible for setting up our brand-new shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

You will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Play an active part in running our shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes. 

• Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 
 

• To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.

• To have Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

• To have previous retail experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable. 

• To be highly organised with good time management skills.

• To be able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

• To be able to use own initiative.

• To be resilient and adaptable to change. 

• To have good planning, guiding and motivation skills to successfully achieved targeted income is desirable.

• Good written and numeric skills are desirable.

About the role:

As a DA caseworker, you will:

Effectively manage a caseload of service users affected by domestic abuse, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.

Ensure each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions

Undertake risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of the client in line with VS operating procedures. To follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns.

Provide information and advocacy to enable service users to navigate and understand the criminal justice process and ensure their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice this could include criminal, legal and if relevant, civil remedies to service users.

You will need:

• Experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or families affected by domestic abuse
• Understanding and knowledge of an active commitment to promoting equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity
• Ability to work without direct supervision, prioritise work and deal with competing or conflicting demands/ needs and interests in an organised and methodical manner
• Understanding of confidentiality and safe working practices, in accordance with safeguarding and data protection legislation
• Ability to needs assess, risk assess and empathise with the victim
• Good IT and administrative skills including the use of Microsoft Office packages
• High resilience and the ability to work under pressure
