About The Role
This role involves:
- assisting the Reserve team with all seasonal management activities including reedbed, wet grassland, ponds, scrapes and ditches, hides, paths and boardwalks
- ·operating agreed machinery safely in order to carry out management activities e.g. Brushcutter work when required (if appropriate qualification is held).
- helping maintain and clean paths, signs, benches, bins, leaning rails and gates
- working with a variety of hand tools safely and correctly, observing and applying health and safety regulations at all times
- taking due care for the safety, welfare and enjoyment of the visiting public

About You
This role will suit you if:
You have a can-do attitude and are happy to help us in all weathers, and are both a practical person and physically fit. Having experience or qualifications in some habitat management would be helpful, particularly brushcutter, experience, but a support of WWTs work and a keenness to learn is more important. It’s a closely-working team, however, the ability to work under your own initiative and being self-motivated is also needed. Having, or being happy to develop, the confidence to engage our visitors with the work of WWT is also a key part of this role. Please note that this role is currently only open to those aged 18+.

About The Role
Our catering support volunteers help our team across the catering operation at Slimbridge Wetland Centre and ensure we deliver excellent customer service to our visitors. The money our visitors spend in our catering outlets supports the vital conservation work carried out by WWT.
At WWT we believe that the best way for people to understand and connect to wetlands is to experience them, so we bring awe-inspiring nature up close and let it do the talking. At Slimbridge Wetland Centre visitors can explore unique wetland habitats and the amazing array of birds, mammals and amphibians that inhabit them. The Dementia Wellbeing Service provides practical and emotional support to help older people live independently and safely at home for as long as possible, stay socially engaged, and carry on doing what they love. The service supports Camden residents over the age of 55 in the early or moderate stages of dementia. The coordinator works with the client, their family, or carers to produce a personalised wellbeing plan.
Staff and volunteers for this service are located at our Henderson Court Hub in Hampstead.
What does the role involve?
Volunteers assist the Dementia Services Manager with all administrative aspects of delivering the services including communicating with people referred to the service.

Role Description
Our Resettlement Support Volunteers play a key role by supporting staff to deliver positive impact through projects that address a range of needs of the participants we work with (predominantly men over the age of 18 years). Our Volunteers help minimise a person’s risk of reoffending and support them on their journey of creating healthier relationships by assisting them to access vital services and engage with their local community, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed and create an overall positive lifestyle change.
Volunteers act as positive role models who inspire, empower and guide participants to achieve actions agreed on the initial action plan. They offer personalised support to help improve participants’ lives, equipping those they are supporting with the skills they need to succeed and to prevent individuals from becoming trapped in a cycle of criminality.
This is a rewarding role, with many positive outcomes for the participants you will be matched with. In return for your volunteering efforts we offer extensive training, paid expenses, and high level of support and supervision from a Volunteer Coordinator.
We ask for a minimum of 6 months commitment following completion of vetting and training and a minimum of 1 hour volunteering per week during office hours. Our volunteers must understand the need for reliability, that they value punctuality and have good communication skills. We’re looking for two Stroke Group Supporters over the age of 18 years old, at Speakability Tayside, Dundee. The group meet at the Dundee Contemporary Arts, 152 Nethergate, Dundee, DD1 4DY.
You’ll be volunteering every third Friday of the month for two hours from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. You need to be able to complete online training.
We provide all of our volunteers with training, so you feel confident in your role and give the best possible support to stroke survivors attending meetings.
Stroke Association Voluntary Groups provide long term social and peer support to people affected by stroke and other brain conditions. They organise events and meet together to reduce social isolation and rebuild the confidence of members. Stroke group supporters assist in the running of one local group and help support the group members.
The volunteers will:
· Be good at working with people and helping to support them at meetings and events.
· Enjoy helping with community group activities and working with others.
· Have a friendly and approachable manner and be comfortable welcoming people to the group.
This role would be particularly interesting for anyone with lived experience of stroke as a survivor, family member, friend or carer. However, all experience is valuable, and everyone is welcome to apply.

We are setting up a poetry group here at Birch Lane and are looking for a volunteer to help facilitate the group. Your volunteer role will include promoting the group to residents and encouraging attendance. Helping to set up the room for the session including moving tables and chairs if necessary. Set up any equipment for the group, searching poetry websites and printing out copies of the poem, and connecting to speakers to play audiobooks, being comfortable with IT equipment and navigating the internet would be a plus for this role. You will also make refreshments and tidy away at the end of the session.
During the session you will read the poems to the group and start the discussion afterwards with a couple of questions prepared to get people talking. You will need to be comfortable reading aloud to a group of people and as a poetry group facilitator you will be skilled in steering the discussion and keeping the conversation on topic and flowing. You will have a love of poetry and an interest in sharing this with group members. The group will run collaboratively and you will choose the poems for the sessions together, and encourage group members to read the poems aloud if they feel comfortable to do so.

· Choose poems for the group in collaboration with residents.
· Read the poems aloud to the group and lead the discussion afterwards, with a couple of discussion starter questions prepared.

Family Lives operate a free confidential helpline for anyone experiencing difficulties in their family or relationship.
Our volunteers take calls from parents and carers on a wide range of subjects, whether that might be issues around separation and divorce, isolation, depression, bullying and abuse, dealing with behavioural problems, etc. You can find out more about our services on our website.
We are a national service with home-based call takers county wide and we also have a call centre in Old Hatfield Hertfordshire. Once trained volunteers sign up for a weekly 4-hour shift comprising 3 hours ‘online’ followed by a debrief session with your supervisor which can lasts around half to one hour.
We recruit volunteers with a range of backgrounds and experiences though we ask that volunteers have experience of parenting or working with children and young people, are good listeners and have a willingness to learn. Being remote it will be very important that you have a PC/laptop, plug in headset with microphone, good Wi-Fi and a private place to work from home.
You need to be a UK resident.
Our training programme is excellent and will give you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to offer empathic support and guidance to callers whatever their circumstances; all shifts are overseen by a regular shift supervisor who provides ongoing remote support. We ask our volunteers to make a commitment of 1 year (with time off for holidays), obviously we understand that circumstances sometimes make that an impossibility but can be helpful to know at the outset that is the general expectation.
We have call taker training sessions that run over five sessions and is done remotely connecting you via a Microsoft Teams link.
You would need to be able to attend all five sessions from one of these remote training groups and be available on four occasions to listen into calls, this can be organised remotely.

Be trained to support young primary school children in numeracy, and help them to attain interest, confidence, and skills which will put them on a path to achieving their educational potential.
What will I be doing?
Numeracy, like literacy, is a vital life skill, but many children fall behind.
Following training, you will work one-to-one with 6 to 8 year olds in a local state primary school to help them improve their confidence, enjoyment, and skills in maths. The school will select appropriate children who are behind in maths and likely to respond well to individual support.
Sessions are weekly, in school time, at a fixed time to be agreed between you and the school. Volunteers work one-to-one with each child for up to half an hour, normally with three children consecutively, for a total of about an hour and a half.
At each session, using games and other creative activities, support the child in learning or improving skills and gaining confidence in their own ability. The role is very much about helping the child learn, rather than you teaching.
Our Mentors (current or former teachers also volunteering with us) will provide you with direct support to help you plan sessions.
Commitment
We ask volunteers to commit to a weekly session in school for the full school year. (Recognising that you will have to miss occasional weeks.)
What impact will this have?
You will be helping improve the educational and life chances of the children you work with. A child who is behind in maths aged 6 often develops a dislike for the subject and a belief that "I can't do maths" which can stay with them forever. Helping the child acquire skills and confidence can let them not just engage better with maths but can improve their whole attitude to education, giving them better chances in life.
Over half the children we work with are "disadvantaged" in terms of being on pupil premium or having family difficulties You will be giving these children the support that is normal for other children.
You will not change the life of every child, but the experience of having a purposeful one-to-one relationship with a considerate adult from outside their family will be transformative for some children.
By helping to improve the performance of individual children, you are saving the teacher from having to devote so much time in class to them. This lets the teacher involve the whole class in better-received lessons, improving the educational experience for all the children.

About The Survivor Support Hub
Our Survivor Support Hub (SSH) works to fill gaps in the provision of support offered to individuals who have been exploited, or who are at risk of exploitation through modern slavery in Oxfordshire. We provide person centred support, which is flexible to the needs of the individual.
Our clients are extremely varied and include people all ages, genders, family situations and both British citizens and migrants.
This support aims to bring hope, develop independence and minimise vulnerability. Our aim is to empower clients to make their own well-informed decisions and to rebuild their lives. You can help us do this!
About this role
As a Client Support Volunteer, you will provide support to clients through messages, phone calls and in person. In person meetings are held out in the community (such as at coffee shops) across Oxfordshire.
The Survivor Support Hub has 3 support elements, 2 of which are provided by our amazing volunteers.

Emotional and Social Support: for this, volunteers offer a listening ear to clients, providing emotional support as well as help to develop personal support systems to they also have other people to provide them with emotional support.

Practical Support: volunteers offer clients help with daily tasks when they feel comfortable and able to do so. This can include help with CVs, travel to appointments, filling in forms or practicing their English.

Advocacy Support: advocacy support is provided by trained specialist staff. Any support that clients need which you are not able to provide we will help them with.

The Integrated Community Support (ICS) service provides day service opportunities for people with low and medium Preventative Care Needs.

We ask for a commitment of at least 1 day a week 10:15am – 4:00pm for a full year (+ about 2-3 months for DBS check and induction), though there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer more than one day a week.

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of sight loss and RNIB services at local events. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to local service providers and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a world without barriers.
What you’ll be doing:
• Giving talks to groups of people to raise awareness of sight loss in your local community by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local businesses, community and voluntary groups.
• Delivering talks to raise awareness of RNIB services as a trusted source of support for blind and partially sighted people
• Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service

Our children's services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children's services and help make a real difference.
Barnardo's Office Support Volunteeers support a range of children's services, such as Care Leavers, Advocacy and Mental Health support services, as well as back office support, providing administative and reception support. Completing general admin duties, alongside booking rooms, ensuring notice baords are up to date and recording service user information, our Office Support Volunteers keep our services running efficiently.
We are looking for organised people, with basic admin skills. As a good communicator, you will be friendly and approachable and able to communicate with proffesionals from a range of backgrounds.

What you will be doing
- Office administration such as, preparingand distributing materials, such as mailings, leaflets, training materials and group resources.
- Answering and re-directing phone calls in a professional and effiecient way.
- Updating notice boards and creating wall displays for special events and festivals.
- Ensuring all rooms are kept clean, tidy and safe for the use of children, young people and families.
- Managing room bookings and online calanders.
- Adhereing to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health and Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.
- Participate fully in training and supervision.

The skills you need
