The Head of Public Affairs & Stakeholder Relations is a strategic and dynamic leadership position within the Policy and External Affairs directorate. You will lead and manage our influencing and engagement work with key policy, government, political and wider sector stakeholders. Your role will be essential in fostering and maintaining our corporate narrative and in building relationships that support our organizational objectives.
This role requires a deep understanding of Youth Futures’ policy work, our strategic corporate objectives together with the outside policy, political and sector landscape. The individual needs to have strong organizational and project management skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build credibility with senior internal and external stakeholders.
The role will be a permanent job share 24.45 hours a week. Working days will be Monday to Wednesday.

Mass Participation Lead
We are seeking an experienced leader to drive forward the development and implementation of the events and mass participation fundraising strategy.

The Role
Worth currently £2m annually we are looking to rapidly grow our income from third party and owned products and events. About CARIS Families
CARIS Families is a small, frontline charity that supports families who are homeless and living in overcrowded multi-occupant hostels in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Camden. Life in temporary accommodation hostels entrenches children and their parents in poverty and disadvantage. Families suffer from acute overcrowding, inadequate basic facilities and a permanent sense of unsafety. The nature of hostel life isolates people from their support networks, decimates their physical and mental health and becomes an adverse life experience in itself for families already suffering the trauma of having become homeless.
CARIS Families exists to provide early intervention to mitigate the worst effects of hostel life and homelessness for children and parents in our four target hostels. We do this by providing hands-on play, learning and social activities to help children meet their potential, improve families’ wellbeing and build their support network. We provide a holistic family support service that case-works with each family individually to reduce financial and other pressures on them as they wait for a permanent home. We also use our data and learned experiences about temporary accommodation to join campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation policy and practice, both locally and nationally.
We have just received funding to employ a dedicated Housing Rights Manager for the next two years. This is an exciting addition to our team, as it will be our first staff member dedicated to helping our homeless families with their housing case. The housing system is notoriously opaque: families tell us it can be a hopeless minefield to navigate independently and that they often can’t access meaningful help with it, resulting in years-long hostel stays. Our Housing Rights Manager will step into the gap and work with families on an individual basis to gain the information and support they need to progress their housing case and expedite their move-on into a suitable home.
About the role
Our Housing Rights Manager will be a key member of our Family Support Service. They will manage a weekly drop-in clinic from within the hostels where they will assess new housing cases and develop a support plan with families. They will manage a full housing caseload of housing support work, collaborating with relevant local groups, local authority partners and law centres to progress families’ housing cases. They will learn from the barriers families tell us they face, develop CARIS Families’ housing advice service in response and use these learnings to contribute to campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation practices and policies locally and nationally.
In their first year, the Housing Rights Manager will work in partnership with housing solicitors at Shelter to write a Housing Information and Rights handbook tailored to the processes of our target boroughs. The handbook will aim to demystify the temporary accommodation system in our two boroughs, explain residents’ legal rights and help them understand their options. It will form a key part of the support we can offer and allow us to reach many more families in hostels than our small staff team can individually casework with.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed staff team of just 5, working in a person-centred and community-minded way to make a real difference to families on the frontline of inner-London’s housing crisis.

We are evidence and data-driven, factual, and solution-focused. Our strategic evidence base will ensure that Society’s decisions and interpretation of dementia and the system are based on the highest quality of dementia evidence and will:
• Demonstrate the scale of dementia in the UK
• Demonstrate the impact of dementia on the system and those affected by the disease
• Underpin the response of Alzheimer’s Society and the wider system to the big challenges dementia poses
As our Strategic Evidence Manager, you will have the responsibility of delivering the development and curation of our strategic evidence base and will play a significant role in our mission to make dementia the priority it needs to be.
You will lead a team of two Strategic Evidence Officers and work alongside a Health Economics Lead and a Dementia Data and Intelligence Lead. You’ll also be part of an even larger Evidence, Policy & Influencing (EP&I) function, which is laser-focused on ending the devastation of dementia through changing policy and an integral part of the EP&I Management Team. Integration and teamwork are everything in this role – with colleagues internally and with the system externally.
You will:
- Be an internal and external influencer, using your understanding of Alzheimer’s Society strategy and the external environment to manage the development, delivery, and curation of our strategic evidence-base.
- Deploy an integrated three-nations approach to our work, building consistency of approach and sharing of best practices while flexing to account for the different environments.

The Senior Youth and Play Worker will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families team, working as the senior practitioner and ensuring the smooth running of all our programmes and services. About the role
We are looking for an exceptional individual who will lead a team of Senior Safeguarding Case Officers and Safeguarding Case Officers to deliver a case management and consultation function across the Society, ensuring that people at risk are supported to remain safe and have timely access to appropriate support and intervention, in line with legislative requirements and good safeguarding practice.
You will have substantial experience in case management and management of safeguarding risks, and will be able to confidently apply your knowledge, skills and experience to the work of a large organisation committed to supporting people with dementia and their families.
You will:
- Be responsible for ensuring that all allegations, concerns and incidents are correctly investigated, learning taken and shared, and supporting administration is accurate and records are maintained in a timely way.
- Be responsible for defining and implementing adequate safeguarding thresholds for risk assessment of safeguarding concerns and allegations managed by the team, including best case management practice standards.
- Be responsible for the delivery of a triage function ensuring that adequate risk levels are consistently implemented in the team’s case work.
- Be responsible for addressing escalated safeguarding concerns, allegations and incidents, working closely with local Safeguarding Partnerships across England, Wales and Northern Ireland nations. Identify issues and either investigate themselves or delegate where appropriate, taking personal responsibility for complex investigations.
- Hold a safeguarding caseload and participate in triage, as required, including participate in an out of hours duty rota as required.

The Community Engagement Department enables our student community leaders to gain the knowledge, skills and connections for themselves and their student communities to thrive.
Working with staff across the Community Engagement Department, the Training Coordinator works closely with the Training Manager to support staff to design and deliver high quality, impactful training for our 3000 student community leaders across 400+ student groups, 1000 student representatives, and our 6 full-time elected Student Officers, among other student communities.
The Training Coordinator will support specialist staff across KCLSU to design and deliver a range of training spanning the breadth of community leadership, including but not limited to: student group management, event management, facilitation skills, volunteer management, project management, assessing impact, health & safety and safeguarding, effective representation, influencing & campaigning, community organising, protecting student rights, inclusion & accessibility, among others.
This role forms a crucial element of the KCLSU and KCL Leadership Learning Initiative, a joint project designed to foster leadership skills among students, particularly those from under-represented backgrounds.
Job Specification
Student-facing Training
- Lead the operational planning and delivery of our student-facing training programmes, including training our student group leaders, our elected sabbatical officers and our academic representatives, among others
- Work with relevant staff across KCLSU to implement the KCLSU Training Strategy and share and promote best practice across the organisation
- Work with relevant KCLSU teams to ensure consistency across student-facing training and ongoing guidance and support through the Community Development Framework and the Services Framework, and ensuring consistency with policy and compliance
Training Design & Development
- Develop best practice guidance for training design and delivery in line with the KCLSU Training Strategy.
- With oversight of all training content, work with the Training Manager to ensure we are utilising efficient and effective methods of delivery.
- Apply a process for assessing learner needs to ensure training is accessible for all, implementing adaptive approaches to training that mitigate barriers to engagement
- Ensure our training content is engaging and reflective of our diverse student membership.
- Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices
Service Development
- Develop the annual operating plans for the Community Engagement Department's Training, ensuring ongoing quality improvement of our training provision in line with KCLSU's strategic plan.
- Review and improve processes, using staff resources effectively and implementing efficient, sustainable and robust working practices.
- Monitor key performance indicators, managing processes for measuring and reporting on impact and outcomes.
- Develop mechanisms for service feedback, consultation and user insight, understanding user needs and perspectives to inform service development.
Stakeholder Management and Partnerships
- Work with key partners at KCL, including the Students and Education Directorate (SED), Dr Michael Flavin and KCL Careers & Employability

About the role
The £4.5m Young Gamechangers Fund (YGF) is an exciting UK funding initiative that provides grants of up to £20,000 a year to young people transforming communities into safer, more sustainable and more inclusive places to live. Funding is provided by the Co-op Foundation, Co-op and #iwill fund, and is delivered in partnership by Restless Development, Global Fund for Children and the Co-op Foundation. In addition to funding, successful applicants also get access to peer support networks, training and mentoring. Importantly, the fund is co-design with young activists, through a Youth Steering Group. All elements of the programme are youth-led and grantee centred, with a commitment to codesign and seeking input from young people at all stages.
Evaluation and learning is central to the fund; we aim to generate learning that will support young people, grantees, funders and delivery partners to learn and increase their impact, but also to generate evidence that can influence the wider sector. Ultimately, we are seeking to change the way youth-led funding is delivered.
The Evaluation and Learning Coordinator will work closely with the grantees to help them effectively understand and learn from the results of their work; and to generate and disseminate wider evidence and learning on the impact of the fund. The role will work closely with the Fund’s external Evaluation and Learning Partner - The Social Innovation Partnership (TSIP) - who have just finalised a monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework for the fund. Restless Development is the delivery partner leading on the learning element of the fund.
We are looking for someone who has a commitment to learning and youth leadership, and is excited by the idea of generating evidence that could help to shift power to young people in the funding sector. You will also be excited by the prospect of working closely with our incredible Young Gamechangers, to help them better understand their impact.
The role will be part of Restless Development’s growing team in the UK that supports our network of young leaders. It will also be part of the YGF team, working closely with colleagues based within Global Fund for Children.

Key responsibilities:
Support to Grantees
- Provide training and support to grantees to help them respond to quantitative and qualitative reporting requirements as set out by the MEL framework, e.g. through training on how to implement qualitative data collection tools (such as reflective diaries or more creative approaches such as video style reporting)
- Provide broader evaluation and learning support to grantees, based around the needs of their work - as part of the wider support offer alongside funding. Including the design and delivery of training, and in-person support visits.
- Support to grantees to complete other funder reporting requirements, including uploading quantitative data to match funder’s online portal.
- Focused support to a sample of grantees to help them develop Community Impact reports for their work, based on peer research (methodology to be defined from the Learning Partner)
Implementation of the Fund’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework
- Acting as the main point of contact for the Fund’s learning partner, and coordinating with other stakeholders (including delivery partners, funders and the Steering Group), to include coordinating feedback and review processes, e.g. for the mid-term and final evaluation reports.
- Work in partnership with the Learning Partner on the development and dissemination of any external learning products or activities, such as events, blogs or ‘Failure and Innovation One Pagers’
- Working to ensure strong youth engagement is embedded throughout all stages of the evaluation process, from design through to delivery. This will include working closely with the Steering Group.
Learning and Reporting systems
- Ensure effective processes are in place so that learning generated is used to inform the fund’s design and delivery, e.g. through a quarterly learning and review process.
- Responding to funder reporting requirements, including through the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data collected through the MEL framework.
- Working with Restless Development’s Communications team to support the external dissemination of any learning from the fund, e.g. helping to finalise external products, and identifying relevant case studies to showcase the fund’s impact.
Other
- Contributing to agency wide learning, working with colleagues across the global agency to build expertise in funding and supporting youth social action
