Volunteers wanted for our vibrant Friday Club for adults with learning disabilities/difficulties.
With around 60-70 members attending each week, we are in need of enthusiastic volunteers to help support our evening and provide our members with a smooth and trouble free evening from start to finish.
Usually entertainment ranges from disco evenings/live music/ karaoke/bingo and raffles in our main hall and more laid back activities in our small hall such as crafting, yoga or tai chi.
No formal experience/training required but an understanding of learning difficulties would be useful.
DBS checks will be carried out for all volunteers.

· Activities such ten-pin bowling, visiting a park or attending a local event.
This is a nice, light touch way to make a difference, have fun and gain valuable experience. Expenses are reimbursed.
What do I need?

Access Social Care is a legal rights charity that exists to make sure disabled people, older people and carers get the social care they need. We educate so people can confidently use legal language to improve their lives. We make sure people can access justice when things do go wrong with legal casework and an online tech product. We are now seeking to recruit new trustees to the Board. We are seeking well motivated people who have an enthusiasm for our work and can offer a commitment to our charitable purpose, person-centred values and to co-production with the people we support. We require trustees who can demonstrate vision, knowledge, skills and relevant experience. Prior experience in a trustee or governance role is not essential as we will provide personalised training as required.
We are particularly keen to attract applicants who have senior operational management experience in social care. We are also pleased to receive applications from people from other professional backgrounds or with personal or family experience of using support services and we welcome applications from people with transferable skills and experience gained in the charitable, public or private sectors.
You will contribute to the effective governance and oversight of our organisation and to developing our strategic direction. This will involve attending at least 6 evening Board meetings per annum (held bi-monthly), the Annual General Meeting and occasional planning days.
You will be expected to contribute to a committee relevant to your area of interest and expertise (currently these are Finance & Audit, Housing, People & Performance and Quality & Practice Development). Committee Meetings are also held bi-monthly. Board meetings are held in our Head Office in Stockport, situated close to the mainline train station, whilst committee meetings currently take place on-line.

About the opportunity
We are seeking committed vegetarians and vegans to join our volunteer board of trustees.
Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is the only UK charity specifically dedicated to supporting older vegetarians and vegans. If you share our belief that all older people should be enabled to maintain their chosen diet and lifestyle, have access to trusted information on healthy eating and rights, and enjoy good quality food wherever they live, this role may be of interest to you.
Our trustees work with the CEO of VfL and its operational team to ensure good governance and realise the strategic aims and development of this unique charity. VfL has experienced sustained growth and impact since it was formed in 2007 and is highly respected for the breadth and quality of its work across care, advocacy, and catering sectors.
We are a small board who regularly review skills and experience across our membership to ensure we optimise our effectiveness in supporting the charity. In anticipation of members completing their tenure in 2025, including our present chair/vice-chair, we seek new trustees to sustain VfL’s success and progress in the years ahead. While interested in diverse backgrounds, we would be especially keen to hear from those with specific experience in any of the following:
- Working in health, nutrition, social care relating to older people (voluntary or statutory sector).
- Previous or existing role as trustee of a charity or organisation connected to supporting older people.
- Roles relating to capacity building or business development.
The role of trustee is a voluntary one although expenses are paid when incurred in connection with the role. The board meets quarterly, mainly via video conferencing but with at least one meeting a year in Manchester where VfL is based. Full board meetings are held on a Saturday. Some communications occur between meetings (usually by WhatsApp or email) and occasionally additional (short) meetings are required to make decisions timeously – these will always be scheduled by arrangement with members.
To be considered for this role
You should have the skills and experience outlined above and be committed to the aims of VfL. You should be able to articulate the contribution you believe you can make to furthering these aims.

Could you use your digital marketing and social media skills to help a local London-based recovery service to increase their social media presence and reach?
Lewisham Primary Care Recovery Service (PCRS) provides a drug and alcohol treatment recovery-orientated service, offering medication assisted treatment alongside psychosocial interventions for people living in Lewisham.
Humankind has national social media accounts, but we would love to involve a volunteer to help increase PCRS’s local social media presence and engagement, generate content and also to help promote existing activities. We can provide insight and experience in the field of social media marketing for a charity, and support you in your own goals.
Please note: This role is designed so that is can be undertaken remotely, but the volunteer would still need to be based in the UK. Humankind is unfortunately not able to offer visa sponsorships.
Details of the role:
Engage with staff, service users and volunteers to gather content, quotes and stories to be shared on social media. This could involve attending online group sessions or meetings, following nationwide Humankind accounts to share relevant content on local platforms, and researching relevant local organisations / networks / initiatives.
- Support with the design of this content, using templates and brand guidelines.
- Help to promote the activities of the service
- Help create a social media plan with support from staff
- Adhere to data protection, safeguarding, social media policies, media consent and brand guidelines
- Have regular catch-ups with a supervising member of staff to evaluate progress
Practical Considerations:
This role can be undertaken remotely and with flexible timings, but it would be ideal if you were able to attend an online meeting fortnightly during 9-5 hours to discuss and plan with the supervisor for this role.
Please note, we'd need to check with you that you can access the internet /have enough mobile data if Volunteering remotely, as we want to ensure no one is out of pocket from volunteering. We will have a Humankind laptop available for this role.
Personal qualities / Experience:
- Experience using social media platforms to increase engagement, and generating content
- An interest in / willingness to learn about recovery and substance misuse services
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- An understanding of the importance of guidelines and procedures relating to key areas such as safeguarding and information governance.
- Respectful and non-judgemental towards service users and team
- Able to commit to volunteering regularly (though flexible when that would be)

Age UK Notts are seeking individuals who would like to be considered as a volunteer for our Companion Service.
Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.
The companion service volunteer can choose to be:
• A companion telephone/video caller
• A companion within the person’s home
• A companion outside the person’s home
• Or a combination of all three.
Examples of the type of support the service offers include:
• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat.
• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.
• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.
• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups.
• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.
We are looking for the following skills/interests:
• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.
• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly.
• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.
• Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

Are you passionate about supporting young refugees and asylum seekers as they begin their journey into the UK workforce? Become a Volunteer Mentor with Breadwinners!
What Does a Volunteer Mentor Do?
As a volunteer mentor, you'll be paired with a young person in one of our two core programmes:
- Risers Programme (2 months): For young asylum seekers aged 16-24 who are awaiting refugee status.
- Breadwinners Programme (6 months): For refugees with the right to work in the UK, helping them gain vital skills and experience.
Most mentors will work with our Risers, as this program is more fast-paced, but opportunities exist to mentor our Breadwinners too.
Your role? Help your mentee gain hands-on work experience at one of our weekend market stalls and lead weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions. These sessions are designed to develop employability skills, explore future goals, and foster social connections. Many of our mentors build lasting relationships with their mentees even after the program ends.
Time Commitment:
- Market Shifts: 2 hours per weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
- 1:1 Mentoring: 1 hour per week, in person or online, to support career development.
- Ongoing Support: Stay in touch via text or calls during the week to help with logistics and provide encouragement.

The donations will be approximately a bin bag full so may be more suitable for someone who drives and has a car but the locations are a few stops on the tube from the service. The locations of the collections are around Victoria and Waterloo and will be delivered back to the service in Lambeth. Please note that all travel expenses will be reimbursed!

We are looking for a volunteer to create and facilitate sessions and discussion groups with our volunteers and service users on a variety of subjects for our Learning and Development programme. You will work closely with the Volunteering Team to establish what volunteers and service users would like covered in the programme and then plan, organise and prepare a series of workshops. Some examples of popular sessions that have been held include confidence building, communication skills, presentation skills and more!
What you will be doing
- Create and facilitate workshops and discussion groups with our volunteers and service users on a variety of subjects for our Learning and Development programme
- With the support of the Volunteering Team establish topics for discussion
- Carry out research and prepare materials for the sessions
