Guts UK is the only charity that covers all of the digestive system, from ‘top to tail’ covering the gut, the liver and the pancreas. Guts UK works actively and collaboratively with other charities. However, with our own limited resources, we choose to focus particularly on the conditions that have no other specific charity or voice - those illnesses that really are underserved such as pancreatitis, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), childhood gut and liver disease and digestive cancers.

Our vision is a world where digestive disorders are better understood, better treated and everyone who lives with one gets the support that they need. 

Overall Purpose of the Head of Research

• To lead the delivery of the charity’s strategic research aims including managing and further developing Guts UK’s grants programme, managing our small research team, working with research partners and networks to raise awareness of our work and outcomes, further develop impact, and continue to develop and embed patient and public involvement (PPI) in our research.
• To drive new initiatives and develop and deliver tactical plans for the Research team which meet our strategic objectives.
• As a member of the charity’s senior leadership team, to contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of strategic initiatives and the wider development of the charity.

Who we’re looking for?
As a small but growing national charity, we punch above our weight including our research programme where we invest directly and in partnership with other organisations. We are looking for an experienced healthcare research manager who is looking to take their next career step including a move to senior leadership role. With the support of our CEO, SLT, and the Board Research Strategy Committee, you will take ownership of this portfolio, further develop and successfully delivery research strategy, and develop our research investment and impact.

We currently have a small Research team, so while this role requires strategic thinking and leadership, similar to charities of our size you will need to be someone who relishes multi-tasking and isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up to things done. In the long term we are targeting significant growth in our research portfolio, and therefore our team, and so the role will develop and evolve.

So, if you know the medical research landscape, are experienced in research grants management, enjoy working with others and building professional partnerships, have a passion for patient voices and don’t mind getting stuck in – this role could be just what you’re looking for.

Location

We have offices in London and Huddersfield which are easily accessible by road orpublic transport. Working closely with colleagues across the Philanthropy team you will support the team in the Patrons, Legacy and High-net-worth individual (HNWI) income streams and manage your own portfolio of Legators and HNWIs. You will focus on the administration and stewardship of the Patrons Circle and Legacy programme, account management for your portfolio of donors, data management and supporting the wider team on identifying and approaching new potential donors.

You will work closely with colleagues in the Philanthropy team and wider Development Group across varied income streams whilst also building successful working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the Museum. You will maintain a high level of organisation and excellent communication to build meaningful relationships with donors to the greatest value for the whole Museum.

The role will be line-managed by the Patrons Manager with guidance from the Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) and Senior Philanthropy Manager.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Patrons Circle

· Support the Patrons Manager with the administration of the Patrons Circle, including delivery of the events programme, drafting newsletters, event invitations, renewal reminders, thank you letters and welcome packs.

• Support the Patrons Manager to monitor the Patrons inbox for queries and event RSVPs, resolving any requests from Patrons, logging RSVPs or escalating them to the Patrons Manager as appropriate.

· Laise with Membership and Marketing teams to integrate Patron, Member and Visitor communications and benefit delivery.

Legacy and HNWI administration and pipe-line development

• Support the Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) with the delivery of Legacy events programme and day to day administration of the Legacy programme, including administering new bequests via Smee and Ford notifications.Steward and cultivate a warm portfolio of 50 Legacy pledgers and lower-level donors by drafting day-to-day communications, marketing emails, writing stewardship reports and sending event invitations.

· Support the wider team by planning and cultivating prospective Legators and lower-level donors under the supervision of the Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) and Patrons Manager.

General

· Ensure that Raisers Edge is updated regularly and in line with the requirements for each event or activity and work closely with key database managers to ensure records are kept up to date.

· Support the Senior Philanthropy Manager and wider Philanthropy team with meeting, visit and event organisation, including, supporting the delivery of events and writing briefings ahead of donor meetings.

· Support the wider Philanthropy team with Raiser’s Edge data- inputting and gift administration, including gift processing, acceptance and due diligence forms.

· Deputise for Patrons Manager and Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) on designated accounts in order to handle day-to-day requests and flow of information, arrangements for meetings and thanking. 

Person Specification

Essential

· Proven organisational and administrative skills delivered with accuracy and attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload in an efficient and timely manner.

· High level of professionalism, discretion and an ability to interact with donors and Patrons.

· Excellent standard of written and spoken English.

· Flexible and adaptable working methods and the ability to adopt new skills and processes in a faced-paced environment.

· Excellent understanding of IT skills, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

· Ability to work well as a member of the team as well as on own initiative.

Desirable

· Experience of fundraising from individuals.

· Experience within a fundraising department in the museums, galleries or charity sector.

Role Requirements

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Plumber will use their vast experience, skill, and knowledge from previous roles to deliver exceptional plumbing services to the estate, ensuring the efficient operation and safety of all electrical systems and associated items in compliance with current standards and regulations.

Ensuring requirements of Children, young people, parents, staff and visitors are met at all times the role will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance tasks in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and also for installation, investigation, diagnosis and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, including, but not limited to heating and hot water systems, hot and cold-water services, air conditioning, air handling and ventilation equipment, drainage and rainwater system and control systems. To add variety to your day, you'll also be assigned other duties through the help desk. These tasks will diversify your workload and ensure your role remains dynamic and engaging.

Provide and receive routine and complex information to inform colleagues and other personnel. Be knowledgeable and conversant with technical issues and communicate and explain those to colleagues.

The role holder will assist in the supervision and monitoring of maintenance work carried out by contracts ensuring at all times their own work and that is contractors is within the statutory guidelines the role will ensure a quality customer service and delivery of outcomes within expected SLAs.

The role holder will participate in a 7-day shift rota and out of hours call out to ensure a 24/7 coverage of the estate.

The Role 
 
As our Deputy Shop Manager you will be responsible for setting up our brand-new shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Play an active part in running our shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

To be successful as the Domestic Housing Manager (Maternity Cover) you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring your management experience of providing services to women experiencing Domestic Violence and Abuse including VAWG. With a significant experience of managing, developing and leading teams across a geographically dispersed region and remotely, including harnessing the strengths and potential of staff at all levels, building a strong team culture and maintaining staff motivation, particularly through periods of change. You will have substantial delivery of collaborative working with external agencies, stakeholders, subcontracted partners and extensive management of frontline workers

Overall purpose

The Philanthropy Manager will manage and steward a portfolio of funders and donors – across trusts and foundations, statutory sources and major donors – to secure annual and multi-year gifts in support of Breaking Barriers’ vision. As well as managing relationships with our existing donors there will be a focus on creating new relationships through proactive prospecting and developing a long-term strategic approach to stewardship and relationship development.

You will be an ambitious, enthusiastic, energetic, and autonomous fundraiser with a demonstrable passion for supporting people from a refugee background. You will have a strong track record of high-value relationship management and fundraising, ideally specialising in Trusts, Statutory, Major Donor fundraising or a related area. We are looking for someone who can successfully secure and steward gifts of 5 figures and above – so evidence of stewarding high-value relationships and high-quality written skills are key. You will collaborate with additional fundraisers across Trusts, Statutory, Corporate and Major Gifts to coordinate approaches and maximise opportunities across all functions.

We welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills from other sectors and other areas of fundraising but a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of grant fundraising is essential. We are looking for a passionate individual who can get people excited about the work we do and who wants to make a difference in the lives of individuals from a refugee background. Finance and Resources Manager (Full Time)

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.  

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.
