About the role

This Senior Direct Marketing Executive position is within our acquisition team which is a fast-paced, dynamic, supportive team who bring in new donors across the Individual Giving portfolio. You’ll work alongside the Senior Direct Marketing Manager (Digital Acquisition) to lead on the following things:

• Digital fundraising campaigns and projects
• Managing relationships with agencies
• Managing budgets
• Maximising income opportunities
• Staying ahead of sector trends and insight
• Monitoring the achievement of financial and non-financial targets

Your key areas will be developing and leading on delivering our multi-million-pound campaign at winter and across Shelter’s individual supporter channels, propositions and product. Your work will help to drive us closer to ending the housing emergency.

With a constant curiosity for industry leading creative campaigns, you will inspire the team and share your knowledge and skills. You will build strong relationships with colleagues, agencies and suppliers. You must also be skilled at project managing multiple campaigns while maintaining a high level of drive and commitment.

You’ll have a key eye for detail and will be comfortable interpreting and analysing data to make decisions and be confident to take risks, run tests and ultimately push our fundraising to the next level.

Our Individual Giving team sits within our successful, growing Income Generation directorate and consists of three programmes - Supporter Acquisition, Direct Dialogue and Supporter Retention and Development. Together, we deliver a diverse programme of work with ambitious income targets that support our organisational strategy, across cash, regular giving and lottery products. Main Responsibilities 

Strategy and Planning

Working with the Chief Executive and Development and Communications Committee to set and lead on the development of NCO’s development strategy, setting fundraising targets in line with strategic objectives.

Oversee all fundraising activity and report to the Chief Executive, NCO Board and Finance Committee on progress towards income targets.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, represent the Development function to ensure full account is taken of development potential whilst contributing towards the leadership and strategic direction of NCO.

Individual Giving

Lead on re-establishing NCO’s Individual Giving programme, drawing on the potential pipeline of current stakeholders (eg parents and alumni) and delegating to/working with the Development Team in its successful delivery.

Lead on new mid/major donor giving and relationships including legacies, personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.

Support the Development team to lead in the delivery of NCO’s annual giving programmes, ie Friends and Patrons.

Lead on individual campaigns, working collaboratively with the Development team to maximise opportunities to engage with new supporters through events and matched funding initiatives (eg The Big Give).

Work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to ensure the continued engagement and support of the NCO Board.

Trusts and Foundations

Lead on fundraising from Trusts & Foundations and other grant giving bodies (excluding statutory funding).

Research and cultivate existing and new funders, working with the Chief Executive, Board and the Development Team to initiate new partnerships and maintaining systems to ensure that those partnerships are successfully managed and sustained.

Prepare compelling major grant applications to secure new funding with sound attention to detail, and work with colleagues by leading and advising on other vital grant applications undertaken by members of the Development team, sharing best practice in fundraising to develop the organisation’s skills.

As part of the Development team, provide appropriate and timely monitoring information to trusts and foundations, as required by their conditions of support including, where appropriate, organising events and visits.

Corporate Fundraising

Lead the Development team on stewarding existing and cultivating new corporate sponsors and ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered across NCO’s marketing channels.

Statutory Funding

Support the Chief Executive and wider team to ensure that NCO fulfils its quarterly and annual reporting requirements to Arts Council England and the Department for Education and in the creation of new funding applications including as part of the next ACE Investment Review.

(NB: The day to day management and reporting requirements of NCO’s NPO and DfE grants will be managed by a newly appointed Business Administrator and overseen by the Chief Executive).

Organisation and Management

Line manage NCO’s Development Manager through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 meetings and identification of training needs.

Empower the Development team by ensuring they have regular opportunities to develop their skills and experience across different areas of fundraising and through training whilst supporting them wholeheartedly in their professional development.

Inspire and lead the Development team, and set an example, on the application, implementation and adherence to all NCO policies and procedures.

Support the Development team to lead on the development of NCO’s CRM System (Beacon) in specific relation to its fundraising functions, in line with the Data Protection Act.

Maximise the potential of Gift Aid from all donations, supporting the Development team to ensure all donations and payments received are appropriately logged, accompanied by appropriate paperwork and in line with annual audit requirements and submitted in a timely manner.

Produce Development reports for quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings, attending online and in person as required.

Undertake research and maintain a high level of knowledge about trusts, foundations, individuals, and statutory funding to inform planning.

Represent NCO at conferences undertaking public and media presentations, attending conferences and events and lobbying forums as appropriate

Job summary 

We're looking for an ambitious and talented Head of Public Fundraising join our team. As a member of the extended leadership team, you'll inspire and lead a talented team of fundraisers committed to growing income from community, events fundraising and individual giving (including legacies). A highly motivated, creative team player with a strong track record of success, you'll support our fantastic public fundraising team to take these vital income areas to the next level and beyond. 

You’ll have a solid understanding and experience of one or more public fundraising income areas, be adept at identifying and creating opportunities for income growth and be able to communicate with a wide range of audiences, organisations and stakeholders — internally and externally. An understanding of health and medical causes would be beneficial but certainly not essential. We’re very happy to support the career development of somebody stepping up into their first ‘head of’ role and will also consider applications from someone who is already in a Head of role seeking to increase their remit across a greater number of fundraising areas. Director of Fundraising & Communications

Based at The Vassall Centre Bristol c£60k + excellent benefits

Bristol Charities mission is to provide opportunities and support for people and communities to improve lives through grants, housing and charitable projects.

They are at a very exciting time in their development and have created a new role of Director of Fundraising & Communications to help them on their journey. This a new role that will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the charity as well as securing the resources to deliver sustainable growth in the work and impact of the charity.

Going forward their work will be delivered though a distinctive and coherent Community Hub model, which will be holistic, person-centred, integrated, joined-up, and promote a partnership approach.  They also purchased The Vassall Centre in 2021, with long term plans to redevelop the site for community benefit.

In the short term they plan to relaunch the Vassall Centre as a standout, accessible, and affordable workspace venue for charitable organisations.  Their community Hubs will include directly delivered Bristol Charities programmes/projects, services delivered by local partners, and services delivered by their strategic partners. They are also looking to increase the number of housing units they manage, either through development of their existing sites, through acquisition of new sites or through partnership working with other local housing providers, and any new Housing Schemes will incorporate the new Hub model.

Bristol Charities now need to recruit an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial fundraising professional; someone who is capable of not only overseeing a small but growing communications function, but who also recognises the importance of aligning fundraising and communications strategies and activity. 

With this role, there will be the opportunity to build a fundraising function from scratch and lead on the fundraising and communications strategy for the charity, at a time of exciting change. The work would go across a range of sectors and will provide an opportunity to impact the city in lasting and tangible ways.

JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Development will be a dynamic leader within the RUH and a charismatic ambassador externally. Responsible for leading the Development Team across all funding streams and personally managing a select portfolio of major gift prospects, the role will transform our approach to fundraising and philanthropy, delivering against demanding targets and key projects (research, patient & staff support, capital campaigns, medical equipment and ‘where the need is greatest’). The successful candidate will be the entrepreneurial force behind leading a team to grow income to £4m+ to support projects and campaigns across the RUH. As an innovative and strategic leader, you will focus on driving donor-centric partnerships, providing exceptional supporter experiences while bolstering exceptional stakeholder relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Development—The post holder will line manage a successful team of fundraisers and will be responsible for securing a team total of £1.5m per year. The Head of Development will manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects and will be responsible for the identification and cultivation of potential donors, typically in the region of £250,000 and above, delivering a £1.5m a year.
• Leadership & Management- responsible for providing inspiring and innovative leadership and team management, nurturing a culture of ambition, support, and inclusion at RUHX. Ensure the alignment of the charity's vision, values, and behaviours while managing a high-performing Development Team, in line with best practice.
• Strategy - responsible for the strategic leadership and delivery of all development functions of the RUHX’s income generation, in line with the charity’s objectives and the Charities Committee.
• Governance and Compliance- responsible for ensuring RUHX's is compliant with all fundraising regulatory and legal obligations, including GDPR, The Fundraising Regulator and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
• Financial & Risk Management- responsible for leading and managing the Development Team to meet financial fundraising targets and oversee budgets. Working with the SLT, ensure timely updates to the Head of RUHX and Charities Committee, reporting on risks with recommendations.
• External Relations and Communications- working with RUHX Director and Marketing & Communications Team support with corporate communications, public relations, and brand consistency. 

Frazzled Cafe is a small mental health and wellbeing charity founded by Ruby Wax OBE, that provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can meet on a regular basis to talk and share their personal stories. 

We run our free meetings online every single day of the year for anyone who needs them, and anyone can book and be included to talk, share, listen and to feel heard.

As part of our exciting plans for growth, we are seeking a Development Manager to lead on the organisation’s fundraising and communications to fulfil our mission and play a key role in supporting the next phase of Frazzled Cafe’s growth and development.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering an ambitious fundraising strategy with a range of fundraising activities focusing primarily on trusts and foundations but also individual donors, corporate partners and fundraising campaigns. You will also lead on creating a communications strategy to significantly grow our reach, brand and impact. Working with our Training and Programmes Manager, you will support our plans to expand our network of fantastic Volunteer Facilitators. 

This is an exciting, creative and flexible opportunity for the right person. The ideal candidate is someone with a demonstrable successful track record in fundraising, alongside the skills of a talented and persuasive communicator and relationship builder. They will be creative, solution focussed, willing to get stuck in and have good humour.

MAIN TASKS

Fundraising

● Lead on developing and delivering an annual fundraising strategy to support our ambitious plans for growth, securing a minimum of £250k per year from Trusts and Foundations, individual donors, fundraising events and campaigns, and corporate partnerships.

● Research and generate a pipeline of funding applications, including multi-year grant opportunities from Trusts and Foundations

● Lead on writing compelling applications and conversations with funders, talking persuasively and informatively about Frazzled Cafe’s work and impact

● Work with the CEO and trustees to develop new relationships with individual donors and strengthen partnerships with existing supporters

● Work with the CEO and Head of Training and Programmes to develop new opportunities for corporate sponsorship and partnerships

● Lead on organising fundraising events such as dinners with major funders and initiate and develop other opportunities for fundraising.

● Lead on Frazzled Cafe’s annual Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign and identify any other fundraising campaign opportunities throughout the year, with support from the Project Support and Administration Officer

● Prepare regular reports and updates for our funders, engaging them with our work and the impact of their support

● Ensure that Frazzled Cafe’s fundraising work is GDPR compliant and meets best practice standards.

Marketing and Communications

● Lead on the development of Frazzled Cafe’s first communications strategy to drive awareness and demand, grow our audiences and scale our impact.

● Work with the Project Support and Administration Officer to manage Frazzled Cafe’s socials, newsletters and website, growing engagement across all our channels

● Work with the Head of Training and Programmes to develop a communications strategy to attract and recruit more Volunteer Facilitators and attendees for our programme

● Help deliver Frazzled Cafe’s rebrand with external agency and lead on ensuring consistency in messaging across the organisation

● Lead on developing a suite of resources and materials that can be used to promote our services

● Bring innovative ideas to promote the charity externally to develop a national brand and awareness of what Frazzled Cafe offers.

Person Specification:

● Proven experience of successfully developing and implementing a fundraising strategy

● Demonstrable experience in a communications, or similar, role

● A demonstrable track record in writing successful funding applications and securing funds, including multi-year grants, from grant-making organisations

Head of Development and Income

We are looking for a highly skilled leader with exceptional capabilities in income generation, writing, budgeting, people management and strategic planning.

The Retail team at Shelter plays a vital role in supporting our mission and are based throughout England and Scotland.

With a network of charity shops and online retail channel, we generate income to fund our essential services and campaigns.

About You

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join us as Assistant Director of Retail. In this senior-level position, you will be at the forefront of driving positive change through our retail operations. Your role will be multifaceted, encompassing strategic planning, team leadership, and revenue generation.

As Assistant Director of Retail, you will lead a geographically dispersed team, fostering their personal development and ensuring alignment with our organisational culture and values.

After an acclaimed reopening of our transformed venue in November 2023, we are now seeking a visionary Development Director to elevate our fundraising strategy and help shape the future of our venue.
