About the Role

We are recruiting a new Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. This is a mid-senior level position in the organisation, reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for the sustainable growth of our Equal Education (EE) and Green Economies and Infrastructure (GEI) Portfolios working closely with technical portfolio leads. We are seeking candidates with significant experience in a business development or sales role, ideally within the international development sector.

Remuneration Package:

This role is Band D with a salary range of £43,000 - £55,000. Salary upon appointment will be commensurate with experience and in line with team members in equivalent roles.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.

Business Development – Portfolio Management

· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.

· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.

· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.

· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.

· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.

· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.

· Negotiate consortium roles on bids and develop a teaming agreement to reflect that.

· Lead on our response (with input from relevant colleagues) to direct approaches from clients to provide consultancy and research services.

· Regularly meet existing partners/clients to develop and maintain relationships and to proactively identify opportunities for further joint working.

· Develop relationships with potential new partners and clients.

· Play an active role in building and maintaining relationships with SDDirect’s Associates and network of consultants.

· Own and develop marketing materials that showcase portfolio work.

Bid Production

· Lead on and be responsible for technical and commercial proposal development (including budget), working closely with colleagues from our technical, project management and finance teams. For large bids, the technical and commercial roles may be performed by two people, though the technical lead will retain responsibility for the whole process.

· Produce job descriptions/terms of reference for specific roles on new programmes.

· Use company resources and networks as well as own contacts to identify and contract consultants.

· Agree and document all terms in-line with BD process.

· Ensure compliance requirements for each bid are in place, e.g. data protection, due diligence etc.

· Capture and share learning from tenders under areas of responsibility.

· Review contracts for work won against the contract checklist.

· Deliver handover to the Programmes Team for seamless mobilisation.

Communications

· Contribute to internal action to strengthen SDDirect as an organisation through participation in meetings, working groups and other fora.

System and Process 

· Support the continuous improvement of BD Team performance.

· Actively participate in development of the BD Team annual workplan and objectives, taking a lead on agreed sections.

· Actively contribute to the development of BD Team systems and processes, proactively improving them where necessary.

· Record own time as required on Kimble, SDDirect’s time management system. 

Programme Funding Manager, Global Greengrants Fund

Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) supports grassroots activists and civil society organisations around the world working to address environmental and social justice in over 160 countries.  GGF applies a participatory and decentralised model in making grants to grassroots groups through regional and thematic boards of advisors, global partner networks and independent funds, to support grassroots environmental and social justice action.

Global Greengrants Fund comprises two organisations located in the USA, Global Greengrants Fund Inc (established in 1993), and Global Greengrants Fund UK (established in 2012). The Role

The Programme Funding Manager provides cross-team support to strengthen the organisation’s funding and budget management functions and ensure the successful delivery of GGF’s grantmaking and other programmatic activities. This includes collaborating with multiple teams within GGF UK and GGF US including the Programmes, Grants Management, Finance and Philanthropic Partnerships teams, to design and implement systems, processes and improvements to ensure high quality budget management and high standards of donor and regulatory compliance across all funded activity.

The role is responsible for the budget management of all GGF UK-funded programmatic activities, working with Programmes colleagues, Advisory Board representatives, donor relationship managers, Finance staff and others to ensure funds are spent appropriately in line with project plans and donor obligations.

The candidate profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have substantial experience in a similar capacity within charitable, environmental, development, social justice, feminist, gender, or human rights organisations, particularly in an international setting. They will be adept at enhancing collaboration across multiple functional teams, including those operating internationally, to ensure effective and compliant funding and budget management, especially with restricted income. The candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in designing, managing, and refining systems and processes for better budget management and donor compliance in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Their experience should include managing large, multi-year programmatic budgets exceeding $5 million and ensuring adherence to donor agreements and regulatory requirements, such as those of the Charity Commission.

Responsibilities

Strategic development and implementation

• Develop and oversee an effective PR communications strategy, including business/trade press and public affairs (EU and UN advocacy), based on ProVeg’s strategic principles, impact areas and global interventions.

• Be accountable for the development, delivery, and evaluation of the organisation’s PR activities.

• Create relations with key media outlets to increase visibility and dissemination opportunities

• Develop media relations and build relationships with PR contacts to continuously grow our impact.

• Secure media opportunities for the Senior Leadership and Executive Team and the Global CEO.

• Oversee and ensure the management of positive relationships with the media and relevant change agents, and external colleagues.

• Develop and update, as needed, clear guidance (e.g., core messaging and brand narrative) for the communications team to ensure public communications are aligned with ProVeg’s organisational strategy and communications approach.

• Increase ProVeg International’s profile, particularly in broadcast media, enhance the organisation’s credibility and inspire supporters and other stakeholders through the use of engaging communications.

• Safeguard the organisation’s brand by overseeing and managing the development of crisis communications plans and advising on emerging issues and PR risks and opportunities. 

• Liaise with the Global CEO and the Senior Leadership Team on strategic communication alignment and/or adjustments, and coordinate and ensure synergies in terms of quality control, key messages, templates, strategies, etc. 

Management and leadership

• Model excellence in (remote) team management by motivating, coaching, giving, and receiving feedback, supporting and developing teams and skills, and driving innovation and creativity.

• Advise and work with colleagues across the organisation, to ensure we maximise opportunities to raise awareness, influence, and deepen engagement with our audiences in order to support a variety of objectives.

Budget and resource management and evaluation

• Manage a dedicated budget for effective reporting and forecasting.

• Produce timely and regular management information for leadership that effectively explains performance set against OKRs, KPIs and the broader strategic plan. 

Qualifications

Required:

• An excellent understanding of the plant-based and alternative protein sector and knowledge of food systems change.

• A successful track record (5+ years) in journalism (print or broadcast), marketing, or public affairs, developing and delivering strategic objectives across a range of communications channels.

• Strong track record in PR (including broadcast), marketing and/or organisational branding.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, English to native level (or C1).

• Excellent networking skills and experience in building productive relationships with key media stakeholders and influencers.

• Strong project management skills.

• Ability to juggle a varied workload, delegate effectively and contribute as a team player.

• Strong team management skills and a commitment to motivating and empowering a team remotely in order to achieve their goals.

• High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills – externally and internally; ability to balance diverse interests of different teams.

• A strong understanding of, and experience of using, quantitative and qualitative evidence.

• Strong problem solving skills.

Principal Responsibilities

The Communications Officer will support include the following areas:

• To offer support on a range of diverse projects and events to increase the profile and awareness of Chance to Shine

• Extensive policy development experience within the healthcare and regulatory space (ideally)
• Good understanding of the principles of good regulation in the UK and how this can be translated to Policy Development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Significant experience of preparing high quality policy documents, including position papers, reports, and final documents for senior committees and external stakeholders
• Understanding of legal principles (via a degree or previous experience - highly desirable, but not essential).

• Ensure all aspects of the Society’s Governance are managed effectively
• Companies House/Charity Commission filing
• Management of the HR function to include administration using Breath HR, induction of new staff, BSG Officers and Trustees
• Management of the election process for committee members
• Ensure governance of the charity is dealt with effectively including all policies and procedures implementing change where necessary
• Be the Data Protection Officer for the charity ensuring that the charity is GDPR compliant
• Preparation and management of budgets with the CEO

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and delivery of a 3-year train the trainer pilot programme in the chosen pilot locations in England or Scotland.

The pilot will train and equip local health care professionals, health promotion workers and local community workers with the knowledge and resources to promote breast awareness, breast screening and risk reduction messages in their own communities.

Supported by a public health development officer, train the trainer (1 based in England and 1 based in Scotland), who you’ll also line manage, you’ll lead on the development and delivery of the in-person programme, including marketing materials, resource packs and ongoing support for trainees. You’ll also identify opportunities, agree timescales and associated logistics for training delivery within the pilot areas.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is experienced in leading on the development and delivery of insightful and engaging workshops or public health focused projects, to a range of audiences from health or community-based organisations. The right candidate will have a good understanding of health inequalities, the challenges they present to health behaviours and outcomes, and be passionate about addressing these challenges. You’ll have strong communication and engagement skills and enjoy working independently and innovatively to develop successful partnerships with a range of organisations, communities and stakeholders.

In this critical market research role, you’ll champion the voice of our customers by ensuring their needs and expectations are understood and put at the heart of the British Heart Foundation (BHF)’s work. And through your work, you’ll play a part in helping us achieve our vision of a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases.

You’ll work with teams across the charity including marketing, product, retail, and health to develop insight plans, manage research projects and deliver insights to inform decision making.

In this role, you’ll inspire colleagues to value insights and evidence. Your work will help teams see the power of using insights to shape their decisions and strategies.

Using a variety of quantitative and qualitative tools and methodologies, you’ll run in-house research projects end-to-end. You’ll carry out data analysis and provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders such as by delivering reports, debriefs and workshops.

You’ll also manage projects that are outsourced to external research agencies – including procurement, project management and quality assurance throughout the project.

This role sits within the Customer Insight and Analysis team, a team of researchers, data and digital analysts, and data scientists. We work across the BHF to ensure the organisation’s strategy is led with high quality, timely intelligence, and our colleagues can access high quality insight to support decision making, drive growth and improve our products and services. 

Working arrangements

18-month fixed term contract, covering an internal secondment. 

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

The Passage are a London based charity providing homeless people with the support to transform their lives. Their vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home. In 2023-24, they supported over 2000 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and prevented nearly 900 people from becoming homeless through a variety of services.

About the role

As the new Community and Events Fundraising Manager, you will oversee the stewardship of some of their most passionate supporters, working closely with dedicated volunteers, community groups, and overseeing key charity events. Your focus will be on harnessing the enthusiasm and commitment of fundraisers in the community, motivating and guiding them to maximize their contributions.

You will also actively support the planning and execution of our bespoke Walk to End Homelessness event, alongside leading on our annual Spring Concert and contributing to the growth of our third-party event series.

Responsibilities:

Community and Events Fundraising:

• Help deliver the teams' existing events and community fundraising products, growing net income and actively seeking new opportunities for expansion.
• Develop a range of new fundraising products and assets to support all aspects of the community fundraising programme in line with our values and key messages.
• Act as an ambassador for The Passage with community groups, personally delivering talks and presentations to build relationships and promote our work.
• Manage and oversee a programme of station and street collections, ensuring that volunteers are trained and equipped to represent The Passage with the public
• Manage current community and events fundraising relationships with individual supporters and groups by providing outstanding, tailored stewardship to generate income.
• Help deliver and develop a range of The Passage owned and third-party events and activities.
• Work with the digital marketing and comms team to produce engaging, accessible content and campaigns across web, social, email and paid digital activity to promote fundraising products and activity.
• Research and recommend new ways of raising funds and generating income through community fundraising.

Budgets and planning:

• Produce and manage the Community Fundraising income and expenditure annual plan and budget.
• Work with the Senior Events and Community Manager to regularly review performance, report variances against budget and undertake contingency planning to minimise risk.
• Monitor income and KPIs against agreed budgets and targets, taking action to address any shortfall.

People management:

• Provide all aspects of line management support, development and coaching to the Fundraising Assistant.
• Recruit, train, manage and inspire volunteers to deliver agreed aspects of the fundraising plan.

The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraiser in community and events with strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals.

Excellent organisational skills are a must along with being ambitious, driven and passionate about representing The Passage and supporting their mission.
