We would love to welcome you as part of our volunteering team to support the activities in our new Shop and Post Office at the Soane Stable Yard. New products are being created which will appeal to visitors to the Soane Stable Yard and those taking guided tours of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Together with the Post Office, the new shop will also offer a vital service to staff, Pensioners and Pensioners' families and the local community. The new Shop and Post Office will open at the Soane Stable Yard in early September 2024. We will need help to prepare the Shop for opening during August 2024.
We are looking for volunteers with a friendly attitude who enjoy interacting with a variety of people, who are passionate about volunteering and happy to work as part of a team.
No Post Office services will be required to be undertaken by volunteers.
To provide Army veterans with the support and comradeship they need in recognition of their service to the Nation and to safeguard their historic home

We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable retail volunteers to help support our charity shops. Our shops raise vital funds to enable us to support those in the local community living with a life limiting illness and their families.
We currently have a range of opportunities available at our stores located in Ely, Llanishen, Rhiwbina, Penarth and Whitchurch. We also have a new store opening shortly in the Penylan area of Cardiff!!
Retail volunteers take part in a range of tasks such as sorting donations, pricing and providing excellent customer service. By volunteering in our shops, you’ll be making a huge difference and become part of a friendly, welcoming team. You’ll also be giving something back to your community.
You don’t need any retail experience for this role, full training will be provided.

As a Retail Volunteer, you'll be the heart and soul of our store, bringing joy to our customers and helping us create a vibrant shopping experience.

Volunteers are involved in a wide range of roles and day-to-day activities that support the running of each store for two hours or more a week.
On the store floor you could be involved with providing excellent customer service, processing transactions on the tills, replenishing stock and putting up eye-catching displays to entice customers in.
Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with store housekeeping and administration, sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing items.
Do you have specific retail skills to donate? We're also looking for volunteers with skills and ideas around visual merchandising, identifying stock generation channels and raising awareness of our charity shops. Using your local knowledge, you could help to maximise the shop’s potential.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Sort through donations, find hidden gems
- Prepare items for sale
- Maintain the shop floor and provide excellent customer service to our shoppers
- Operate the till
- Help out with basic housekeeping
