Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey has been established for over 100 years.  We enable and empower people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted, and deafblind to overcome barriers and to be as independent as possible. 

 An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Senior Management Team, and lead our Children and Young People’s Service.  The service helps children, young people and families to thrive, by providing a variety of vibrant and impactful services including the Habilitation Service on behalf of the Local Authority.   

Principal accountabilities:

1. Provide overarching leadership, and management, to the Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS).  

2. Lead, in collaboration with the CYPS Operational Manager, the Surrey County Council contract for Habilitation services ensuring that the Key Performance Indicators are met and reported on, in line with the contractual obligations, and that the contract is secured for the future.

3. Lead, in collaboration with the CYPS Operational Manager, the CYPS Service Facilitator and others, the delivery of outputs and outcomes of a number of grant funded services.

4. Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times, and to ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and maintained.

5. To be the designated Safeguarding Lead for Children and Young People for the charity, working closely with Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership and other organisations such as Surrey Youth Focus, and internally with the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Adults.

6. To plan and manage the departmental budget for the Children and Young People’s Service, making best use of resources at all times to achieve maximum impact for the people we support across the organisation.

7. Regular reporting to Surrey County Council, Services Committee, Trustee Board, and funders as required.

8. Line management of the CYPS Operational Manager, the Children and Young People’s Service Facilitator, and a number of other direct reports.

9. Support and supervise the team of staff and volunteers to ensure that they perform and work to the agreed standards and in line with our organisational values.

10. Conduct annual appraisals and identify training needs within the team to meet all national standards. 

11. Work with the CYPS Operational Manager to succession plan, and manage the training and development of Trainee Habilitation Specialists to ensure the charity is well resourced.

12. Provide information, support and advice for children with vision impairment/ Multi-Sensory Impairment and their families /carers.

13. To develop the service to include children and young people who are Hard of Hearing or Deaf, and their families, working in partnership with other organisations to ensure we add value. 

14. To share responsibility for the Charity’s operational decision making with other senior managers.

15. To oversee the management and maintenance of the contract for Children’s statutory register of vision impairment.

16. To work in partnership with internal teams, such as fundraising and communications, to ensure the Children and Young People’s Service is well resourced, and always in line with the charity brand.

17. To develop and manage external partnerships as required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

 Desirable

• Graduate Diploma in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young People) or equivalent qualification which specifically meets all the learning outcomes arising from the ‘Quality Standards – Delivery of Habilitation Training (Mobility and Independent Living Skills) for Children and Young People with Visual Impairment (2011)’: Qualification Participant Learning Outcomes.
• Registration with relevant professional body.
• First Aid Certificate (if the successful applicant does not already hold this, they will be required to complete it before starting in post)
• Level 3 Safeguarding qualification (if the applicant does not have an in-date certificate they will be required to complete this before starting in post)
• Communication skills for working with people who are Deaf, or those with Dual Sensory Loss e.g. clear speech, block alphabet, deafblind manual, BSL

The role holder will be responsible for:

- Leading on the development of business planning with responsibility for effectively managing, reporting, and monitoring on progress against directorate and functional level plans, and understanding how these plans translate into the charity’s strategic priorities and objectives. 
- Responsible for early detection of challenges, resource, capacity issues arising in forward plans, offering solutions, and contributing to directorate improvement planning. 
- Monitoring and reporting on risk registers and mitigations; working with the leadership teams to identify risks and future mitigating activities through planning processes.

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally. 

Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe. 

Summary job description

Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision-making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge-sharing events both online and face-to-face across the organisation, in addition to overseeing technical publications.

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Community-Based Fisheries Management. This individual would oversee the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners working with communities around the world as they establish community-based fisheries management and locally managed marine areas. These types of tools and materials include:

- Accessible tools and appropriate technologies:

Intuitive to use and readily available, including software and mobile apps for data collection and interpretation, simple decision support tools for assessment, planning, and problem resolution, and community-level materials for common activities, such as meeting facilitation guides or choice architecture to help communities decide which fish and fisheries to focus management attention on.

- Educational resources:

Manuals, guides, videos, and online materials that provide concise information and serve as self-learning tools, allowing partners to access and acquire knowledge at their own pace.

- Knowledge development:

Structured learning experiences to transfer theory to practice and enhance the background knowledge and competencies such as workshops or webinars, as well as development of good practice technical case studies and publications.

- Skill development:

Specific hands-on training, mentoring, or peer learning exchange programmes to enhance technical expertise and the skills that are relevant to the context of each pillar.

As a Global Head, the position oversees regional and national colleagues to produce and iteratively improve the technical support, ensuring globally consistent guidance, while enabling context-specific differentiation among regions. The ability to work in a diverse and geographically dispersed team and to liaise and adapt techniques across different cultures will therefore be essential. As a Global Head and part of the Technical Knowledge team the position strives for Blue Ventures’ work to be at the forefront of best practice in the sector, by learning from partners and practitioners worldwide to distill learning and experience into usable practical approaches to address the common barriers to achieving coastal fisheries reform with a strong believe in placing communities at the center of decision making.

The Blue Ventures Technical Knowledge team has a unique vantage point, gained through supporting dozens of partners working with hundreds of communities across South East Asia, the Western Indian Ocean, West Africa, and the Caribbean as well as being part of international fora and members of expert panels. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.

At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is an unwavering commitment to empowering communities through participatory data collection, feedback, and use of fisheries and ecological data for adaptive management, and playing a leadership role in our sector to make this the norm. The Global Head - Community-Based Fisheries Management will have a strong understanding and technical experience of data-driven adaptive fisheries management in the small-scale fisheries sector, with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.

Blue Ventures recognises the key roles that women play in fisheries management and conservation as fishers, gleaners, processors, sellers and negotiators and seeks to highlight the important value of their roles in the fisheries value chain, that are often invisible, so that they also benefit. An understanding of the challenges faced particularly by women in fisheries and experience of working in communities to find some practical solutions desirable for this role. The role will work in close collaboration with the Technical Knowledge team to support these goals, which includes working with fisher associations and committees to increase the participation of women in fisheries management.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the complex challenges facing tropical coastal fisheries and the small-scale fishing communities that depend on them. They will have practical experience of working with coastal communities in Africa, Asia or Central America, and partnering with civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to identify and address fishing issues, placing communities at the heart of the solution.

The successful candidate will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate, and ambitious, will have a proven track record in distilling complexity into easily interpretable material, able to deliver high-impact written work, and in communicating effectively with diverse audiences, ranging from fishing communities, practitioners, academic institutions, governments, and other technical experts.

The role entails leading an interdisciplinary and international team, with strong cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will report to Blue Ventures’ Director of Technical Knowledge and will be based in one of our regional hubs, with regular overseas travel to work with partners and field teams around the world.

The core technical scope of the role’s portfolio will include:

- Community-based fisheries management for low-resource, data-limited fisheries including fish biology, coastal ecology, fisheries science, governance and participatory management and decision making;

- Participatory assessment, management and conservation of tropical marine habitats (integrating scientific and community-based habitat mapping and monitoring, fisheries data collection and use, marine spatial ecology and coastal resource governance)

- Following and informing best practice and policy for community based small-scale fisheries management and habitat protection.

The Immigration Adviser at LAH will provide advice and assistance on basic visa and immigration matters, including handling straightforward cases, often referred to as "initial advice" or "entry-level advice." You will assist LAH service users with applications within the immigration rules including visitor visas, Spouse and dependent visas, straightforward EU Settlement Scheme applications, extensions of leave and Settlement and British citizenship applications, offering advice on non-complex immigration rules and regulations, and explaining to LAH service users the relevant procedures, helping them to complete application forms and gather necessary supporting documents.

LAH’s Immigration Advice service is currently provided in partnership with Seraphus, an external law firm. This collaboration offers valuable career development opportunities for the right candidate, including mentoring and the chance to shadow one of their experienced practitioners.

Main duties and responsibilities 
● Efficiently responding to LAH service users' inquiries while creating a friendly, warm, and welcoming environment
● Providing one-to-one specialist high-quality immigration advice at OISC Level 1 on basic immigration matters, including visitor visas, Spouse and dependent visas, straightforward EU Settlement Scheme applications, extensions of leave to remain, Settlement and British citizenship applications, providing guidance on eligibility and ensuring LAH service users understand their rights and obligations
● Representing LAH service users by completing straightforward application forms, such as visa and leave to remain applications, and assisting them in gathering and preparing the necessary documentation for their applications, maintaining professional conduct with LAH service Users at all times
● Liaising with the Home Office and other relevant authorities on behalf of LAH service users for non-complex matters and submitting high standard applications to the Home Office
● Assisting LAH service users with correspondence related to their applications or immigration status
● Recognising when a case is beyond the scope of OISC Level 1 authorisation, such as appeals, asylum cases, or more complex immigration matters, and referring these to higher-level advisers or solicitors
● Operating within professional boundaries, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times

Monitoring and Evaluation
● Maintaining accurate records and case files, ensuring all advice and actions are properly documented, adhering to OISC Code of Standards and AQS
● Overseeing administrative systems for case management and partaking external file reviews and supervision as instructed, tracking workload, and monitoring submitted applications and their outcomes
● Assisting in demonstrating the impact of our work by recording clear and detailed case notes in our database and tracking outcomes against project targets, identifying challenges and issues affecting the LAH community, all of which will be used to inform our provision
● Providing LAH management with necessary information on the Immigration Advice service, including case studies, detailed reports, and relevant data when required

Professional Development
● Participating in learning and evaluation sessions with partner organisations as relevant
● Attending regular staff and other team meetings as required
● Undertaking OISC Level 2 training procured by LAH
● Staying current with legislative changes and policy updates affecting individuals' rights to remain in the UK, and adhering to best practices set by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and Advice Quality Standard (AQS)

Other Accountabilities
● Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with LAH's policies and procedures as well as with the OISC and AQS Code of Standards
● Participating in regular one-to-one sessions for both service and professional development purposes, including regular supervision to assess the quality standard of advice work
● Working closely and collaboratively with other advisers, staff team members, interns, trainees, and volunteers as needed to address the holistic needs and circumstances of LAH service users
● Supporting the preparation for audits by the OISC and AQS, as well as for internal and external reports
● Collaborating with the Head of Operations to ensure the smooth running of the service and implement an efficient administrative strategy
● Conducting workshops and presentations on immigration matters as instructed
● Assisting in creating, maintaining, and distributing relevant informational materials and resources for both the team and service users

The Role 
 
Yorkshire Cancer Research has embarked on an exciting programme to transform and improve the survival and the quality of life of cancer patients.

Active Together is a multimodal prehabilitation and rehabilitation service that has been developed by world leading academics and practitioners at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU).

Reporting to the Director of Research and Services, The Head of Active Together will lead the charity’s Active Together team to directly deliver Active Together services in various locations across Yorkshire as well as overseeing funding contracts with NHS Trusts to deliver the service on behalf of the Charity. They will work in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University to evaluate and ensure continuous improvement of all the Active Together services. 

Specifically, you will: 

Leadership 

• Manage resource levels to deliver the charity’s Active Together Services to a consistently high-standard and within budget. 

• Coaching and developing the charity’s Active Together team, role modelling the internal personal development and objective setting approach. 

• Driving continuous improvement across the team, ensuring learnings from the management and evaluation of the services influences future strategic decisions. 

Roll out of Active Together across Yorkshire with External Stakeholders 

• Lead the charity to achieve the vision of all patients in Yorkshire having access to Active Together through:

• Collaborating with Sheffield Hallam University to continue to develop and implement new Active Together Programmes across Yorkshire including the quality assurance, evaluation, and continuous improvement of existing services.

• Ensuring public and patient involvement informs development, delivery and continuous improvement of the Active Together services in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University and the charity’s internal Public and Patient Involvement team. 

• Supporting the Director of Research, Services and Policy on the negotiation of contractual terms with NHS Trusts to deliver Active Together Services. 

Service delivery and Operational Management of the charity’s Active Together Programme 

• Lead and manage our in-house service delivery teams (including Personal Trainers, Dietitians and Counsellors) to deliver the Active Together service in the charity’s first bespoke Yorkshire Cancer Centre in Harrogate. 

• Work closely with the AWRC to ensure the Active Together Programme is implemented correctly ensuring treatment fidelity and to ensure evaluation data is collected.

Governance 

Ensure the highest levels of good governance within the Active Together team by: 

• Working with the Risk, Compliance and Governance team to ensure the governance of the in-house Active Together Services is fit for purpose.

• Ensuring that the charity’s Active Together operational policies and procedures are fit for purpose and are continually reviewed and updated as required. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have excellent track record of management and leadership, with relevant experience at a senior manager/team leader level in delivering exercise-based, or cancer-related, services in the public or charity sector setting.

Main purpose of the role:

The Deputy Service Coordinator splits their time between the office organising rotas, liaising with families, social services, and health care professionals, and providing a minimum of 20 hours a week of direct support, as well as one weekend a month on the rota, depending on the needs of the service. 

The role requires the postholder to take responsibility for being on call between the leadership team. There is an additional payment for on-call duty.

The Senior Technical Associate role is a key member of the Senior Technical Team at ENN. The post holder will bring extensive skills, expertise and capacity to deliver on a portfolio of our projects, provide strategic and technical direction and leadership, and manage their teams.

The Senior Technical Associate will manage a portfolio of projects, lead on, and support, project delivery and develop content of technical outputs. This will involve being accountable for quality and timely delivery. The priority areas for this position are:

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Project Assistant to support our Programmes Team in Glasgow on the Reclaiming Our Power project.

Salary: Starting salary £26,125 rising to £29,260 pro rata to 0.5 full time equivalent.

Hours: Part time, 0.5 full time equivalent – currently 16 hours per week.

Contract type: This is a fixed term contract, ending on 30 September 2026.

This exciting Project Assistant role will work closely with the Programme Development Officer to support the development and delivery of Reclaiming Our Power. Reclaiming Our Power will explore the impact of racist microaggressions on mental health through creative peer support workshops with people with lived experience of racism, and will use learning to co-design and co-deliver learning opportunities to people working in the public and charity sectors delivering Glasgow’s services.

This project and role are funded with thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.

What does the role involve?

• Organising events including creative peer support workshops, volunteer meetings, and training sessions
• Supporting the co-development and co-delivery of tailored training to people training/working in public-facing services
• Acting as a key point of contact for group participants and volunteers, building relationships with them and responding to queries and concerns
• Outreach work with people from Black and minority ethnic communities (including refugees and people seeking asylum) and organisations working with them across Glasgow

• Demonstrable experience of organising and running community led initiatives
• Experience of supporting event management, both in person and online
• Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with individuals and organisations across a wide variety of backgrounds
• We are particularly interested in hearing from people with lived experience of the challenges faced by Black and minority ethnic Communities

This is a new role, working in a dynamic charity built on the aim of improving life for local people. We are a small, passionate team driving programmes to meet our community’s needs in North Kensington.

You will be responsible for overseeing Dalgarno Trust’s Programmes, and line managing our Community Champions Manager, Health Works Manager, Foodbank, Volunteer and Room Bookings Manager and Youth Programme Manager. 

Purpose of the job:

• To maintain effective oversight of the delivery of a range of projects and programmes being managed by designated managers.
• To ensure performance management expectations are being met by each project and programme and reported to appropriate funders, including internal and external stakeholders.
• To provide leadership and direction to project and programme managers and work with other senior members of staff to achieve organisational goals.

Duties and responsibilities:

Service delivery management

• To keep abreast of key performance indicators expected to be measured and evidenced for each of the projects and programmes and keep under constant review the need for adjustments in processes to be able to achieve expected performance.
• To use Salesforce for monitoring and evaluating project outputs, outcomes, and impact for reporting to funders, including internal and external stakeholders.
• To support managers in understanding what information is required in terms of monitoring information expected by funders and the Board of Trustees.
• To develop and maintain a performance dashboard on all projects and programmes.
• To communicate performance information of projects and programmes (e.g. dashboard) regularly across the organisation and to internal and external stakeholders as directed by the CEO.

Human resources management

• To provide effective line management to designated staff, ensuring all necessary information about their time management, supervision records, leave arrangements, and other HR records (e.g. sickness) are up to date and available for management decisions and service delivery needs.
• To ensure performance targets, monthly one-to-one meetings, reviews, professional development plans are in place and in practice for each direct report.
• To work with other senior managers on creating management reports on workforce performance and development.
• To work with other senior managers and CEO to ensure organisational performance and service delivery information is helping achieve business development and growth.
• To provide leadership through coaching or other means to direct reports where this helps, is needed or achieves benefits for the individual and organisation.
• To promote and implement a culture that encourages proactivity among staff (e.g. learning from any potential failure and celebrating success).

Compliance and assurance

• To take responsibility for the Quality Assurance Mark ISO 9001 and aligning the actions from the Management System with wider organisational activity.
• To take part in the annual audit of actions for ISO 9001 and ensure any new actions are logged and communicated across the organisation as appropriate.
• To ensure all strands of responsibility under each programme is compliant and meeting legal and policy expectations (e.g. health and safety, safeguarding, data protection etc.).
• To ensure that controls on procuring goods and services for the organisation are always in place securing value for money. Strategic leadership and support
• To identify local and strategic issues pertinent to local communities and voluntary organisations.
• To influence/negotiate policies and ideas, projects and programmes of benefit to local communities.

Age UK are recruiting for a Director of Network Engagement & Support.

In this new, impactful role, you will be responsible for mobilising and subsequently continuously improving a new network engagement and support function. The aim of the function is to significantly enhance the understanding the of needs, views and priorities of local Age UKs and the way in which the national organisation connects with, engages, and supports them. 

Working collaboratively with local Age UKs and national teams, the Director of Network Engagement & Support will be responsible for developing and implementing a network engagement and support strategy. This includes driving forward changes that may include the type of support provided, the way in which it is delivered and how it is monitored and measured to ensure our approach is responsive, sustainable and supports the strategic objectives and operational needs of the network.

This will require collaborative working across a range of teams to ensure a coherent and coordinated approach. This role and team will engage directly with local Age UK leadership, be the owner of the organisational overview of the network and network interactions, ensuring risks and issues are appropriately managed and that there is an effective and transparent flow of information across the organisation and network including into formal governance mechanisms.  

The Director of Network Engagement & Support will ensure the effective delivery and operation of several formal and informal network engagement activities, for example Chief Officer induction. Whilst taking responsibility for providing team strategic direction and management to achieve objectives, the role holder is also expected to be a visible and constructive participant within both the wider Age UK senior management team and the senior team of the Network division.
