Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR) exists to relieve the suffering of British wildlife, to encourage respect and tolerance for wildlife and to further its conservation. SWWR strives to do this by:
· providing a public rescue, rehabilitation, and release service for injured, sick and orphaned wildlife.
· providing a learning and outreach programme, public education, and access to a unique wildlife experience.
· disseminating information and data, delivering professional training, and helping conservation projects, to improve knowledge and raise standards of wildlife care across the UK.
To maximise the potential funding available for Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR), particularly through obtaining grants from trusts, foundations, local authorities and other sources.
This role will also be responsible for enhancing the reach and value of legacy fundraising at SWWR and building strong relationships with corporate supporters to help secure the financial sustainability of the Charity.
Our Fundraising Manager is responsible for planning and preparing all fundraising and grants working alongside all departments to ensure projects are fulfilled from inception to fruition. The post holder takes care of medium- to long-term activities, budgeting, planning and strategy, as well as being responsive to emerging opportunities and adapting to change. The Fundraising Manager is also the main point of contact for new and existing supporters, providing support and stewardship to the amazing individuals and organisations who want to help wildlife.
Alongside the above, the Fundraising Manager will also provide support to the current fundraising personnel and activities at SWWR, coordinating and supporting a range of tasks and functions to aid in the smooth running of the Charity.
Fundraising is integrated into every part of SWWR’s operations. The Fundraising Manager works closely with colleagues in Education, Retail, Events, Finance, Volunteering, and Wildlife Care to understand their needs and provide support to aid in the smooth running of the Charity.
SWWR’s annual operational costs are approximately £900,000. The majority of funding is raised through supporter donations, fundraising events, trading activities and legacies.

The Brazzaville Foundation (“the Foundation”) is a civil society and non-profit organisation registered by the England and Wales Charity Commission (registration number 1160693). It promotes and supports African initiatives in the following areas:
- conflict prevention and resolution missions with concrete actions such as the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Dakar 1 and the African Mediation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine;
- an environmental protection mission whose flagship actions include the assistance of the creation of the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin (signed in Oyo in 2016) and the support of “Elephant Protection Initiative” in favour of the fight against the ivory trade;
- a major multi-year, multi-disciplinary health initiative in the fight against fake and substandard medicines, which gave rise to the signing of the Lomé Initiative, a multi-country initiative aimed at combatting this scourge.
Role Overview
The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the foundation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with charity law, and supporting its mission through effective financial management.
You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making by senior staff and trustees.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping
- Perform regular bookkeeping tasks in a timely manner including:
- Accounting for purchase invoices coding to the correct activity and account code;
- Accounting for income receipts to the correct fund – restricted or unrestricted and account code
- Monthly payroll – and journal to correct activity and account code;
- Monthly pension submissions;
- Accounting for direct card payments;
- bank reconciliations – sterling, Euro and other currencies;
- accounting for accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis;
- regular review of accounting transactions to ensure all transactions tracked correctly;
- proper knowledge and application of fund accounting.
2. Statutory Accounts
- Preparation of Statutory accounts to comply with Charity and Company law
- Preparation of backing documentation for audit purposes;
- Co-ordination with auditors during audit process to ensure necessary adjustments posited correctly where appropriate.
3. Finance Management
- Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure efficiency, stability, and good governance, including record-keeping to provide a clear audit trail.
- Conduct detailed analysis of different charitable activities and funds, managing both restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a timely manner, highlighting significant points and discussing them with senior staff and trustees.
- Monitor financial activity against specific projects and funding streams, providing regular updates and analysis.
- Conduct an annual review of internal controls to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as an accountant in the charity sector or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of charity law, including handling restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in preparing financial reports for senior management and trustees.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
- Familiarity with the requirements of funders and the ability to monitor financial activity against specific funding streams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with deadlines.

Working across the Crisis Brent teams you will lead on the delivery of our volunteer programme and member involvement opportunities. You will be responsible for the recruitment of new volunteers, the support of existing volunteers and volunteer supervisors to maintain a positive volunteer experience. You will work across teams to ensure volunteer’s experience of volunteering is positive and play a key role in volunteer retention. We are looking for a Giggle Doctor Programme Administrator to join our busy programme team, to support the day-to-day operations of our Giggle Doctor programme for hospitals.
This is a part-time, one-year contract to support the running of the Giggle Doctor programme while a member of the team is on maternity leave. With each visit, the aim is to reduce stress and anxiety, increase opportunities for play, and improve children’s experience of hospitals.

Job Description
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Administration
· Act as first point of call for artists regarding their visits to hospitals, overseeing sickness, cover and changes to their schedules
· Support artists with hospital administration and contracts
· Keep artists updated with changes in Theodora Children’s Charity’s policies
· Process changes to the Giggle Doctor schedule on our internal systems
· Liaise with hospitals and keep them up to date with information about their programme of Giggle Doctor visits
· Set up meetings with hospitals, artists and Theodora Foundation colleagues as required
· Book long-distance travel and hotels for artists for hospital visits and training events when required
· Support the Finance Manager and Giggle Doctor Programme Manager with collecting and filing timesheets, invoices and receipts for payment
Training and Events
· Support the Giggle Doctor Programme Manager with events, including booking rooms, resources and catering
· Attend training events for Giggle Doctors, setting up and packing down as needed
Impact and Programme Monitoring
· Support the Giggle Doctor Programme Manager with monitoring Trainee and Junior Giggle Doctor’s progress and keeping records of their observation notes
· Support the Giggle Doctor Programme Manager with data capture and record keeping
· Take minutes and record actions during Programme Team meetings, Theodora Foundation meetings and office team meetings from time to time
- Utilise the charity’s CRM database to keep all records up to date and effectively progress supporter development.
HR and Safeguarding
· Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead and follow safeguarding processes for recording safeguarding incidents in the Designated Safeguarding Lead’s absence.
- Run DBS checks for artists when required using the external Ucheck platform
