About us
Who we are
Woodlarks Empowering the Less Abled (WELA) is a charity set up to fundraise for The Woodlarks Centre (TWC) a charity exempt from registration.
The Woodlarks Centre is a residential care home for disabled adults (TWC). We care for a wide range of disabilities including brain tumour rehabilitation, strokes, MND, MS, Cerebral palsy, brain injury. We were originally set up in 1949 for disabled ladies, at that time we had just 3 bedrooms. The centre has evolved since then into a 23 bedroom care home. We are currently fundraising to complete an extension to increase the capacity to 36 bedrooms. We are aware of a need for more rooms as we currently having to turn people away because of lack of space.
