About us
Who we are
Oxfam shop volunteers make a huge contribution to Oxfam's work, helping people build better lives around the world. Whatever your skills or interests, there’s something for everyone. We sell generously donated good quality clothes, books, homewares and music to raise money to fight poverty and suffering. We also stock a great range of greetings cards, Fair Trade food and eco-friendly cleaning products.
Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. In just 15 years, extreme poverty has been halved. 15 more years and we can end it for good. To spread that change and make it last, political solutions are also needed to tackle the root causes of poverty and create societies where empowered individuals can thrive. We will always act, we will speak out, and we won't live with poverty.
Our culture and values
Oxfam is a global community of people who believe in a kinder, and radically better world, where everyone has the power to thrive not just survive. We believe we can overcome poverty by fighting the injustices and inequalities that fuel it.
Our values are focused on Equality, Empowerment, Solidarity, Inclusiveness, Accountability, and Courage.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
As an organisation that works on poverty and inequality, we will only be effective if we embody equality, diversity and inclusion. We recognise that the development sector is a product of colonialism and our feminist principles seek to dismantle unequal power relations that exist everywhere. Oxfam GB is committed to fairness, equality, equity, diversity and inclusivity among our workforce. We want to take positive action to build a culture that champions our commitments.
We are continually guided by our values of Empowerment, Accountability & Inclusivity in all spheres. The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion policy ensures we both live by – and demonstrate – our organisational values and are held to account for how people from all different backgrounds experience Oxfam GB
