About us

Who we are

Nightingale Hammerson is an independent charity and a leading specialist in the care of older people. We have served the Jewish community since 1840.

Nightingale Hammerson comprises two Care Homes, Nightingale House in Clapham and Hammerson House, Wohl Campus, in Hampstead. Our Homes are welcoming, warm and comfortable but they are also a hive of activity and enjoyment. The care we offer is exceptional and our individually tailored approach to care offers a home-from-home for Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Respite and Palliative Care.

Together, our Homes care for over 250 Residents. Half of our Residents are self-funding and the remaining costs are covered by local authorities, family support or through our significant fundraising.

Nightingale House is the only Care Home for the Jewish community rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC (2022).  We are delighted that our newly opened home, Hammerson House, Wohl Campus, has been awarded the rating of ‘Good’ in all categories.  Notably, CQC commented that we have ‘the seeds to reach ‘Outstanding’ at our next inspection’.

Everything we do is with a ‘Residents first’ approach.

We link this to the Nightingale Hammerson Vision & Strategy.  This is captured in our key objectives which have been shaped to ensure we maintain our current ‘Outstanding’ CQC status at Nightingale House and ‘Good’ CQC status at Hammerson House, Wohl Campus. Our Care Home has been running for 180 years and we are proud of its heritage, faith and more importantly the key provider of care for the Jewish community.

Vision

  • Our Vision is that through Research, Continual Development and Innovation, we will be the leading provider of Outstanding Care and Support within the Jewish community.

Mission

  • Our Mission is to be the leading charitable organisation recognised for providing the best Relationship-Centered Care in the UK and to widely share our knowledge, skills, and expertise.

In developing the strategic priorities for our people, feedback from key stakeholders was sought.

This included a workshop with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Head of Departments (HoD’s), Education and Development Group and the HR and Volunteers Team.

Strategy

Our strategic priorities are:

  1. Those we support will be at the heart of all that we do
  2. We will support and embed a culture of innovative care practice, research & education across the organisation
  3. We will embed strong financial stewardship to protect the assets and future of the charity for the benefit of the whole community
  4. We will be a great organisation to work within
  5. We will demonstrate our commitment to providing exceptional care by extending our skills and expertise to the wider community
  6. We will deliver and maintain a high quality, safe and compliant environment for the benefit and well-being of all.
