Who we are

We are an independent policy and research organisation focused on lifelong learning and better work.

Our vision is for a fair and prosperous society where learning and work enable everyone to realise their potential. We research what works, influence policy and develop new ideas to improve practice.

Our culture and values

We’re focused on the big questions. What impact will coronavirus have on the labour market and how should policy respond? How do we help more people to develop their skills in a changing job market? Work with us and deliver a range of high-quality policy, research and evaluation projects across learning, skills and employment.

L&W is an Investor in People (silver) award holder, keen to learn from the experiences of our staff and committed to staff development including internal and external training and support. We have a staff health and wellbeing strategy and a staff working group who are keen to drive forward health and wellbeing initiatives at work.

L&W prides itself on being a supportive and flexible employer. We recognise the importance of work-life balance for our staff and will consider part-time and flexible working arrangements including compressed hours and homeworking. We put our values into practice with various family friendly policies, which exceed the statutory minimum including carer’s leave for up to 5 paid days per year.
