About us
Who we are
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF) is the only charitable funder working solely with and for people in Hampshire and Isle of Wight. We give grants to charities and community groups worth around £2 million annually, which have a huge impact on our most disadvantaged and deprived communities.
We are a small friendly team all working from home and based all around the county. We like to meet up regularly to work together and share ideas. We work hard to achieve our goals of helping the communities around us and continually strive to help as many groups and organisations as we can.
Our culture and values
Our values apply to all our communities. To HIWCF that means:
- The community organisations in our region and the people they aim to support
- Our funders, fundholders and donors and potential donors
- Our staff, our trustees and other volunteers
We value:
- Local communities
- Equity, diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge for local impact
- Professionalism and integrity
Living our values is important because when we do so, all our stakeholders will support us, trust us and enable us to grow. When that happens our support for our communities becomes more sustainable and our positive impact on Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight will help our communities to flourish.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
HIWCF is committed to encouraging equity, diversity and inclusion among our staff, volunteers and trustees and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We are also committed to ensuring that our dealings with beneficiary organisations, partners, fundholders and any other members of the public are treated with the same level of respect.
The aim is for our whole team to be truly representative of all sections of society and our customers, and for each member of the team (staff, trustees and volunteers) to feel respected and able to give their best.
We also aim to ensure that the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion are adhered to by the grantees supported through all our funding mechanisms.
