About us

Who we are

Future Men is a specialist charity that provides emotional and practical support for boys and young men. We inspire boys and men to become dynamic future men, by giving them the confidence, space and tools to discover what it means to be a man. From structured school programmes and youth hubs, to individual one-to-one sessions and outreach work, we provide the vital support and advocacy that changes boys and young men’s lives for the better. We focus our work with boys and men who face structural discrimination and disadvantage, including of race, income, and community.

Our interventions focus on the transitional times in life such as starting school, getting a job or becoming a parent; these are the times when men and boys are most likely to encounter challenges and therefore most likely to engage or seek help. Our aim is to significantly reduce the number of boys and men, particularly from socially excluded or disadvantaged backgrounds, who are unable to achieve their full potential to become productive and active members of society.

The most useful gift we can give to young men individually and collectively is the gift of hope and self-belief that comes with finding the tools to foster resilience and navigate their own future. We work to enable boys and men to thrive rather than simply survive. This builds social and community capital and affects issues of poverty, violence, lack of education and aspiration for all.

Our culture and values

Future Men is a multi-award-winning specialist charity that supports boys and young men along the path to becoming dynamic future men, whilst engaging in the wider conversation about what it means to be a man. Through our evidence-based and practice-led services, we support boys and young men across schools, communities and youth centres.

Through our Community, Outreach and Development work we build strong trusted relationships with young men and support them to think differently, recover agency and develop positive connections and social networks. Our aim is to increase opportunities for boys and men, empower them to seek a life with positive choices, and to inspire them to become dynamic future men.

We advocate for boys and men through influencing policy and practice, whilst addressing the stereotypes around masculinity and engaging in the wider conversation of what it means to be a man. Our work addresses some of the biggest societal issues facing this group, such as low education attainment, poor mental health and youth violence
