About us

Who we are

Think back to your school days. To that one teacher who inspired you and helped you become the person you are today. Imagine if that teacher had been so stressed with work pressures, that they left the profession for good. This is a growing reality for those in education today. Last year 52% of teachers had considered leaving the profession due to pressures on their health and wellbeing.

We are here for everyone working in education. Established 145 years ago as a benevolent fund for teachers, we understand the pressures of working in education today. Through our free helpline, grants, counselling, guidance, professional and organisational development services, we work with hundreds of organisations and thousands of staff across the sector. The impact can be lifesaving, and more teachers, lecturers and support staff turn to us each year.

We have ambitious plans for the future, as we grow to meet the needs of an ever-changing education sector. We are focused on our vision of everyone working in education feeling respected, supported, resilient and committed.

Our culture and values

At Education Support we are ambitious in our goals; and we believe that how we work towards our objectives is very important to the sort of organisation we wish to be.  Through consensus, we have distilled five values that define the way we like to work.

We are authentic, collaborative, purposeful, agile and innovative.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

We believe that discrimination damages people’s lives and widens the gap between groups with different needs.  We also believe that organisations and communities are able to achieve their goals in the most effective and efficient way when they can draw on the talents of all.  Education Support benefits from having a diverse workforce through the enhanced breadth of experience, skills and knowledge that better reflects the needs and expectations of the communities in which we operate.  There is also enrichment of the shared experiences of our workforce.  Diversity better equips Education Support to achieve our mission, and helps make us a great place to work.
