Who we are
Age UK Islington is a charity which uses innovative techniques to provide support to people over the age of 16, in the Borough of Islington, enabling them to use self-help approaches to manage their own health and wellbeing. We focus on prevention: identifying and facilitating the provision of the right support at an early enough stage, by Age UK Islington or by connecting them with other services in the borough. This, in turn, reduces over reliance on or inappropriate use of public funded services – GPs, A & E and Social Services. We aim to empower residents to develop their own support networks and their own capability and confidence to improve their situation. Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to the work of Age UK Islington, contributing their time, skills and enthusiasm and enhancing the support that we’re able to deliver.
