About the role
The University of London’s Development Office is responsible for delivering philanthropic support for the strategic fundraising priorities of the University. As Senior Philanthropy Operations Manager, you will act as the strategic lead for the data and information management that underpins all of the Development Office’s activities. This will include management of the Blackbaud CRM database (and all associated Blackbaud products), gift processing, reporting and analysis, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant data protection legislation. You will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the Library Transformation Programme campaign and other strategic fundraising priorities. You will also provide strategic data management and analysis that can be leveraged to enhance the performance of the University’s fundraising campaigns and engagement activities.
Who are we looking for?
With a strong awareness of the “big picture” issues in the HE sector, particularly in fundraising and engagement, you will bring experience in transforming strategic ideas into operational reality. You will confidently collaborate with senior staff and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Articulate and literate, you will present to senior staff and produce high-quality written work. Data literate, you will analyze and present data clearly to diverse audiences and effectively manage interactions with staff at all levels. You will lead and collaborate with a team of Development experts, leveraging significant experience in information and data management, IT, prospect research, and fundraising activities. Additionally, you will have experience in financial and budget management, interpreting financial information, and a solid understanding of charity legislation, fundraising regulation, and data protection.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.
Business Development – Portfolio Management
· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.
· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.
· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.
· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.
· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.
· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.
· Negotiate consortium roles on bids and develop a teaming agreement to reflect that.
· Lead on our response (with input from relevant colleagues) to direct approaches from clients to provide consultancy and research services.
· Regularly meet existing partners/clients to develop and maintain relationships and to proactively identify opportunities for further joint working.

Bid Production
· Lead on and be responsible for technical and commercial proposal development (including budget), working closely with colleagues from our technical, project management and finance teams. For large bids, the technical and commercial roles may be performed by two people, though the technical lead will retain responsibility for the whole process.
· Produce job descriptions/terms of reference for specific roles on new programmes.
· Use company resources and networks as well as own contacts to identify and contract consultants.
· Agree and document all terms in-line with BD process.
· Ensure compliance requirements for each bid are in place, e.g. data protection, due diligence etc.
· Capture and share learning from tenders under areas of responsibility.
· Review contracts for work won against the contract checklist.
· Deliver handover to the Programmes Team for seamless mobilisation.
Communications
· Contribute to internal action to strengthen SDDirect as an organisation through participation in meetings, working groups and other fora.
System and Process
· Support the continuous improvement of BD Team performance.
· Actively participate in development of the BD Team annual workplan and objectives, taking a lead on agreed sections.

Community Engagement Manager

Role overview
The British Science Association's mission is to transform the diversity and inclusivity of science. We want more people, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in science, to feel that science is relevant to their lives. The BSA’s Community Engagement programmes focus on reaching people who are underrepresented in science and research.
The Community Engagement Manager will specialise in growing, diversifying, and supporting our community engagement programmes.
The role will develop, manage and deliver high quality programmes by supporting community organisers and community-researcher partnerships. This will include programmes focusing on community engagement with science and research, as well as participatory grant making.
This role would suit someone with an interest in public engagement with science and research and experience of community engagement, capacity building and partnership working.
Key responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role are:
- Extend the BSA’s engagement with grassroot community organisations and communities underserved by science and research.
- Help to grow the BSA’s Community Engagement programmes portfolio and support the BSA’s Community Engagement Network.
- Enable and support community engagement with British Science Week, including managing the British Science Week Community Grant Scheme.
- Project manage existing and new programmes that develop and support community-researcher partnerships and/or enable community organisers to embed science engagement and research in their work.
- Provide delivery support to the Community Led Research Pilot (CLRP).
- Provide capacity building and development support to our delivery partners and participants in our grant programmes to overcome challenges they may face in delivering their projects.
- Line manage a Community Engagement Officer and provide effective management across projects and programmes.
- Deliver against agreed budgets and timelines.
- Work with the Head of Community Engagement in line with the BSA’s 10-year strategy to:
- increase opportunities for those underrepresented in science and research to engage with our programmes,
- develop new partnerships to support new and ongoing grant and capacity building programmes to create positive impacts for communities,
- increase community voice and representation in the science engagement, research and innovation sectors.
In addition, the post-holder will be expected to:
- Support the Head of Community Engagement to proactively strengthen the organisation’s profile and reputation among external partners and stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Head of Community Engagement, other managers and teams (particularly The Ideas Fund) to develop new programmes and improve existing ones and share best practice in community engagement across the organisation and with the wider sector.
- Support with writing funding bids that lead to the growth of the community engagement portfolio.
- Seek meaningful feedback from the communities that will be affected by planned activities (e.g. underserved audiences).
- Other duties as reasonably required by the line manager.

Global Fishing Watch (GFW) is an international, nonprofit organization committed to advancing ocean governance through increased transparency. We create and publicly share knowledge about human activity at sea to enable fair and sustainable use of our ocean. Founded in 2015 through a collaboration between Oceana, SkyTruth, and Google, Global Fishing Watch became an independent nonprofit organization in June 2017. About the Role:
We are hiring a Fundraising Grants and Reporting Manager at an exciting time for the organization. In April 2023, Global Fishing Watch secured a five-year, US$60 million commitment through The Audacious Project to leverage our data and technology to revolutionize ocean management. This new role will play a foundational part in establishing the grant management process at Global Fishing Watch and shaping its future. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the grant management system and processes, ensuring our fundraising team can deliver first class stewardship and relationship management. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the prime responsibilities of this position are to support fundraising and consequently program teams in ensuring compliant, timely and high-quality donor reporting and grant management and knowledge management. Qualified candidates will bring proven experience coordinating with team members to gather necessary information and translate it into reports that effectively engage and inspire funders. They will need to meticulously review reports to identify gaps and follow up for clarifications as needed. The role requires strong written and oral communications skills, the ability to build and maintain new relationships, and a talent for enhancing existing partnerships.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Grant management:
- Manage the tracking, preparation and submission of funder reports, including working with the project and finance teams to produce timely and accurate narrative and financial reports.
- Improve processes and support coordination of grant opening, review and closing meetings, working with teams in the UK and globally to ensure clear assignment and understanding of responsibilities in relation to compliance, management and deadlines.
- Work with finance, compliance and program teams to ensure that all grant-funded projects comply with the terms and conditions set by funders.
- Work with program and finance teams to ensure effective systems and processes are in place for grant management and compliance, such as for tracking grant timelines, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with colleagues and partners to gather necessary insights and information for donor reports, translating program activities and learning into clear funding reports that effectively communicate our impact to our funders and supporters.

Role Description
This role will contribute to A4ID’s mission of promoting the UN SDGs, the power of pro bono, and strengthening the rule of law by focusing on climate change and environmental conservation.
The Project Manager will oversee the delivery of a project focused on combatting the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) in the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) region in Southern Africa. This will include convening partnership stakeholders for project planning and development, devising and implementing activity plans, sourcing experts and developing monitoring and evaluation. This role contributes to building the capacity of legal actors on needed legal support and expertise to tackle issues such as illegal wildlife trade in Southern Africa, as well as climate mitigation and adaptation around the world, particularly in low to middle-income countries. The Project Manager will also have opportunities to engage in coordination and learning activities, representing the KAZA project as part of A4ID’s broader portfolio.
You will lead on and advance A4ID’s climate-related and environmental projects, including related business development and developing and supporting new service offerings and products. To manage the site of Ada’s London Victoria campus, 1 Sutherland Street, so that it is operating safely and efficiently. This involves liaising with contractors and suppliers to plan, coordinate and implement the inspection, maintenance and repair of the internal and external fabric of the building and any machinery or plant within the building. To be responsible for the Health and Safety compliance of the site and oversee the security of the premises to provide a safe and secure environment for all learners, staff and visitors.
Main duties and responsibilities
Facilities management
- Manage the opening and closing of the College for normal hours of operation
- For out of hours College events or venue hire, arrange for the opening and closing of the building and necessary services (heating, cleaning, equipment etc). Liaise with the wider premises team for cover arrangements for these out of hours events.
- Be the principal registered Key Holder, attend call outs and take appropriate action, put in place arrangements for dealing with emergencies which occur outside normal working hours.
- Work with the Head of Premises, and wider premises team, to put in place cost effective facilities management and cleaning contracts for the building and manage those contracts on an ongoing basis.
- Coordinate and implement routine inspections, repairs, redecoration/refurbishments of the College building, equipment and external environment, including annual, monthly, weekly and daily inspections.
- Investigate and report site issues promptly, providing possible solutions, obtaining quotes and initiating repair / maintenance
- Manage and supervise any building contractors undertaking work on the College’s premises. Ensure that any issues with contractors are promptly followed up.
- Work with the appropriate contractors to operate and maintain the building’s systems (e.g. heating and ventilation systems) to an effective standard
- Carry out minor repairs and practical jobs where this is within your expertise
- Plan and manage all room preparation requests for College events such as assemblies, meetings, industry projects/speakers and events and ensure that they are actioned in a timely manner.
- Establish and implement a key identification and management system for access to all College areas.
- Maintain inventories of College equipment (excluding IT equipment) including plant equipment
Security and Health and Safety
- Support the annual health and safety audit and ensure that routine health and safety checks are carried out and results recorded including:
- portable electrical equipment
- water risk assessment
- fire risk assessment
- fire call points and fire fighting devices
- intruder alarms
- emergency lighting
- CCTV systems and warning alarms
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are complied with, including all necessary H&S signage, regularly reviewing the College’s procedures and ensuring that they are compliant.
- Implement Health & Safety Policy at all times, review and assess at regular intervals or as the situation or legislation changes.
- Responsible for site security from the start to the end of the College day including daily inspection of the site, monitoring CCTV activity and retrieving data when required.
- Ensure that appropriate areas are gritted or salted during adverse weather conditions and provide safe access to the College in the event of snow, ice or flooding.
- Be the College representative for the Police Liaison Officer
Other general duties
- Working closely with the Facilities Manager in our Manchester campus and wider Premises colleagues, ensure processes and procedures remain aligned across both sites.
- Remain contactable whilst on duty
- Monitor energy use, water consumption and waste and suggest improvements to support our sustainability agenda.
- Ensure that prior to going on leave, a full handover of keys and duties is given to the nominated cover person and handover upon return from leave.
- To maintain manual and computerised logs of work undertaken, records and information as necessary.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following desired qualifications and experience, qualities and skills:
- Hold recognised training/qualifications associated with facilities management, or be willing to work towards facilities management qualifications
- Have at least two years relevant experience
- The ability to understand and apply regulations such as health & safety, manual handling, COSHE, Legionella etc.
- The ability to operate and understand electrical/mechanical systems.
- Risk assessment experience/qualification.
- Ability to perform the physical tasks required by the post including lifting, carrying and pushing various equipment.
- Ability to manage third party contractors professionally and get the best out of them.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English with wide range of people from students to senior College staff and visitors
- Proficient in Google Workspace / MS Office
- A team player
