The Benefit and Entitlements Advocate (BEA) is an important position within Stay Safe East. The successful candidate will work closely with our Independent Disability Domestic Violence Advocates and Independent Victims’ Advocates, supporting disabled people who have been impacted by domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime and other forms of crime. You will also work collaboratively with the full-time Benefits and Entitlements Advocate.
The Benefits and Entitlements Advocate will provide support with financial empowerment, income maximisation and help with managing debt. Many of our clients experience economic abuse and it takes empathy and understanding to unpick the impacts.
You will work collaboratively with clients to carry out financial empowerment assessments; creating and delivering on action plans to meet their needs relating to income, budgeting and debt.

SAFE Valleys
SAFE Valleys is a pilot project that brings our award-winning SAFE project to Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff. Funded by the Moondance Foundation, SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) is a project that empowers young people in a peer-led environment. It aims to improve the knowledge of topics relating to healthy relationships and sexual health, mate crime, and internet safety. It focuses on young people aged 16-35 with additional learning needs in addition to offering support to their families.
SAFE is facilitated with peer-led workshops. The aim of this project is to empower young people with additional learning needs to lead the conversation and education around their own relationships improving knowledge and awareness of these topics for our beneficiaries of this project.
Job purpose
The successful candidate will deliver a pilot project, taking our SAFE project into Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil. You’ll be responsible for forging new connections and seeking opportunities in the area to deliver our SAFE workshops, encouraging the participation of volunteers wherever possible. The role will involve workshop delivery as well as volunteer recruitment and management. Working alongside an existing colleague in Gwent, you’ll develop and consolidate our workshop materials, to ensure that they’re meeting the needs of the young people participating.
Key Duties:
1. Deliver SAFE workshops throughout the RCT and Merthyr Tydfil area, involving volunteers in delivery where possible.
2. Recruit, interview, induct, train and support volunteers.
3. Work closely with our SAFE project in Gwent to manage referrals into the project, updating on progress and plans in the process.
4. Develop and update workshop materials and activities to meet new challenges, in conjunction with SAFE colleagues in Gwent.
5. Management of the matching/placement of volunteers, risk assessing the volunteers and planned activities, and monitoring and supporting the match throughout.
6. Maintain good record keeping, ensuring that evidence and impact data is collected so that we can monitor progress against outcomes.
7. Promote the project through a range of techniques, instigating interest in volunteering and encouraging engagement.
8. Maintain effective relationships with volunteers, beneficiaries, colleagues and project partners.
9. Prepare reports to the Delivery Leader for Wales, based on agreed outputs and targets.
10. Risk assess all activities, ensuring that they are regularly reviewed and amended if circumstances change.
11. Contribute to joint working and teamwork across Volunteering Matters and the SAFE team.
Experience/Skills and attributes:
1. Knowledge of social care and/or third sector service provision, and the support networks and services available in Merthyr and RCT.
2. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities, and a good understanding of how best to support learning.
3. A calm and collected demeanour, with the ability to engage and support beneficiaries.
4. An experienced facilitator with the ability to engage in good conversation with beneficiaries, whilst actively assessing risks and solutions.
5. Experience working in partnership with other agencies.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a demanding workload and work under pressure and to deadlines.
8. Ability to assess risk and carry out risk assessments.
9. Evidence of good administrative and IT skills and the ability to maintain project monitoring, administrative and financial records.

Desirables:

Qualifications:
Relevant experience and values alignment are more important for this role than specific qualifications.
Location: This role is home-based and will involve extensive travel across Merthyr Tydfil and RCT. For this reason, we require the post holder to have a full driving licence with use of their own car. The postholders will require good internet access to enable remote working and a suitable home office space. IT equipment and infrastructure will be supplied.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Youth Engagement worker, to join our Somewhere For Us Service team. The role of the service is to ensure that children and young people feel supported on their grief journey. The service is co-designed with our Youth Advisory Group. The support is provided through a range of group and 1-1 supports, including Understanding Your Child’s Bereavement online sessions for parents, group support and activities for children and young people and 1-1 support, grief ally/buddy etc.
Workshops are delivered in the community to individuals and groups who work with children and young people, to help increase their skills and knowledge on how to effectively support children and young people going through a bereavement.
The Somewhere For Us Service supports bereaved children and young people aged 8 – 25. It is funded to June 2027, through the National Lottery Community Fund Empowering Young People funding stream.
There are 2 posts, each for 32 hours per week, one based in our Foyle office and one in Belfast office. You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of bereavement support to children, young people, families and communities across the Western and Northern Trust Areas (Foyle), Belfast, Southern and South Eastern Trust Areas (Belfast) and wider NI, if required. Ability to travel independently across NI to fulfil the role is essential.

Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 450,000 patients and families we care for every year.
The charity helps to fund a range of activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our amazing young patients. This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction equipment designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. We also fund a range of programmes and special projects such as our ward musicians, our on-site magician and the play specialists we have on every ward.
We have recently closed our Surgical Neonatal Appeal, having successfully raised our £3m target towards a brand new, state of the art Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital. This year we will be fundraising towards a new Same Day Emergency Care Centre, providing an unrivalled experience for our patients and their families.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy corporate partnerships team. The postholder will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider Charity team to deliver the corporate strategy.
Areas of support include management of incoming enquiries, team support for events, administration tasks for the team and supporting corporate partners.

This fixed term contract is for 14 months at 28.13 hours per week. As part of our 4-day working week trial (working week Monday to Thursday) working hours required will be 22.5 hours per week if you opt to sign up to the trial and its associated conditions. If the trial was to end after 31st March 2025, the working hours required would return to the contracted weekly hours for this role of 28.13 hours per week. As part of our staff charter, we have a flexible working policy and can consider accommodating a flexible working pattern such as school working hours if requested.

Main Purpose of Job:
We are seeking an experienced fundraiser with excellent relationship management skills to help build resilient and profitable income streams for the Somerset Cricket Foundation (SCF) and extend the reach of the charity’s profile. This will include working with existing and new corporate relationships, individuals and Trusts & Foundations.
You will develop and use stewardship tools to guide donors and partnerships through their giving journey; including cultivation plans, proposals, and reports. You will be involved in sourcing and presenting tailored information, making appropriate financial and non-financial requests.
Main Responsibilities:
- Agree an annual high-value fundraising strategy for SCF, in collaboration with the Somerset Cricket Foundation Fundraising Committee and Managing Director.
- Take overall responsibility for the development, growth, and implementation high-value relationships.
- Develop and create new fundraising opportunities that raise the profile of SCF and attract new partners and donors.

SPANA (The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad) is the global charity for the working animals of the world. Since our foundation in 1923, we have worked where they work, to support the welfare of working animals, including horses, donkeys, mules, oxen, dogs and camels.

Trusts fundraising programme
• Research and make approaches, pitches, submissions and applications to charitable trusts and foundations (both in the UK and overseas territories within SPANA’s global fundraising programme, such as Australia), to meet agreed annual targets.
• Actively contribute to the delivery of the trust fundraising strategy, including working to identify and research potential new sources of trust, statutory and multilateral funding, to meet agreed targets.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of an annual work plan and pipeline for the trust fundraising programme, including time-sensitive applications, to grow income.
• Assist in the development and submission of funding applications to statutory and multilateral sources (such as the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and United Nations), working with colleagues to identify opportunities and develop projects and proposals.
• Write clear, concise and compelling proposals, and feedback reports for successful applications, and submit in a timely manner.
• Develop new and existing trust relationships through exemplary stewardship (feedback reports, mailings, phone calls, face to face, etc) to maximise long-term income, secure new sources of funding, upgrade existing levels of giving, repeat donations and multi-year funding.
• Work with SPANA colleagues to identify and maintain a list of suitable projects (that would particularly appeal to potential trust funders) and provide appropriate narrative and financial feedback reports on specific projects and restricted funds (for funders and internal purposes).
• Organise events, visits, meetings and other appropriate activities as required, to encourage and maintain support from trusts
• Assist in the development of events for trusts and major donors and represent SPANA at both SPANA events and external meetings, to cultivate relationships with the aim of securing income.
• Contribute to the development and production of SPANA fundraising, marketing and communications materials, to support trusts fundraising activities.

The Role

The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator position offers you the opportunity to lead on regional attraction work to deliver a pipeline of high quality volunteers and team leaders (where applicable) excited to apply for the City Year programme.
You will contribute to delivering an efficient, effective, end-to-end recruitment service, supporting selection and retention to ensure outstanding volunteers are recruited to deliver excellent outcomes for schools and pupils we work with.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Grants Manager to lead and expand our income from trusts, foundations, and grantmakers. This role is pivotal for advancing our mission and will involve developing and managing a portfolio of restricted donors, researching new funding opportunities, and crafting compelling proposals. While the focus is on trusts and foundations, experience with corporate and institutional funding is desirable. You will collaborate closely with the Director, finance team, and project managers to shape competitive, impactful funding proposals and work in parallel with the Supporter Engagement Manager to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that aligns with the organisation’s overall fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor Management: Take primary responsibility for a portfolio of existing trust donors, providing consistent stewardship and relationship management to ensure ongoing support, including both lower-value and potential high-impact donors.
- Research and Strategy: Conduct targeted research on new trust and foundation prospects, Co-develop a fundraising strategy and plans to approach and engage them based on donor capacity and interest.
- Database Management: Work with internal stakeholders to streamline the donor database for efficient tracking and reporting, ensuring accurate documentation of all interactions, proposals, and updates.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated success in securing restricted funding grants, with a focus on trusts and foundations in the healthcare or international development sectors (desirable but not required).

What the job involves
We’re seeking a Digital Channels Officer to join our Web Operations Team covering maternity leave on a fixed term basis.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in managing content for our website, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and impactful. You’ll be responsible for publishing digital updates via the content management system (CMS) to ensure timely, high-quality, and consistent content across the website. Working closely with colleagues across Prostate Cancer UK, you’ll provide guidance on our online presence and help deliver engaging digital experiences for all our audiences.
Your day-to-day will include editing, proofreading, and publishing content that resonates with our audience. You’ll also help train internal teams on our content management system.
Collaborating with our Web Operations Team, you’ll spot opportunities for improvement and contribute to larger projects, helping us continually improve our site and deliver results more efficiently.
What we want from you
We’re looking for someone with solid experience in writing, editing, and proofreading web content who is comfortable authoring basic HTML and preparing web images with accessibility requirements in mind. You'll be skilled in using content management systems (ideally Umbraco) to build and update web pages.
You’ll need the technical skills to author and edit basic HTML, as well as prepare and edit images for the web. A solid working knowledge of interpreting website analytics, including experience with Google Analytics and search engine optimisation techniques, is essential. You’ll be an excellent communicator, skilled at explaining complex analytics and technical details in a clear, approachable way for non-technical colleagues.
In this role, you’ll also need the ability to prioritise tasks and handle tight deadlines, negotiate effectively, and manage challenging conversations when needed. St Helena is in receipt of financial aid which supports a significant amount of the operational costs of running key public services. In addition, St Helena also receives donor funding for key sectors such as infrastructure development and conservation from donors including HMG, the EU and the UN. Reliance on a small number of donors puts finding continued investment and support into the Island at risk. With uncertainty around future sources and the loss of EU funding it is important to develop alternative sources of income; this includes the continued support to the UK-St Helena Heritage Trust, a UK charity, and to fundraise for heritage projects on St Helena. Your role will be vital in exploring new funding opportunities, including through the UK-St Helena Heritage Trust, to broaden the number of donors.
You will identify and secure additional sources of funding for St Helena, preparing key documentation and ensuring donor-specific monitoring arrangements are in place. Setting up and managing systems to gather intelligence on funding opportunities from new and existing funding streams, you must track, assimilate and disseminate this intelligence.
Experienced in a similar role and educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have already secured external funding for an organisation. Your background is in Public Sector or Non-Governmental organisations, and you understand the requirements of the Charities Commission. Politically astute, you have worked in culturally diverse organisations and in the development sector at national or international level. You have experience of the international institutional funding landscape and country-level funding and understand the needs of major funding bodies, multilateral development agencies, philanthropic funding sources etc.
The fee based on a self-employed basis will be £20k based on 6 days per month.
