The Fundraising Officer supports the generation of income, principally for Groundwork activities across the East of England. Working with business development colleagues and delivery staff  you will help to identify income sources, approach funders and partners, develop and write bids, and contribute towards the annual income of the Trust.

Salary range : £26,182 - £30,832 pro rata (depending on relevant experience)
Term: Min 22.5 hours – Max 25 hours per week, permanent
Location:  East of England, with opportunities for home working

In this role, you will monitor the external funding environment to identify suitable sources of charitable trust and foundation funding and tender opportunities for projects and programmes of activity. You will use your communication skills to write high quality, persuasive copy that brings the charities work to life for potential funders, such as charitable trusts, BIG lottery, local authorities and central government.  In return we offer a supportive working environment, lots of variety in your work and the opportunity to develop your skills and professional knowledge.

Ideally, you will have experience of successful grant funding from Trusts, foundations, lottery distributors or similar, together with demonstrable experience of undertaking high quality research. Working to implement our communications plan via established communication channels, you will be responsible for managing the partnership’s newsletters, social media and the MBLR website. You will also aid the MBLR Programme Manager with the administration of our Community Grants programme.

The person appointed will have experience of providing committee/Board support including minute taking and agenda distribution.

The Role

Reporting into the Funding and Innovation Manager you will lead on contract management, oversight and monitoring and evaluation of our grants and crowdfunding programmes to community groups and customers, with a value of over £350,000 a year. You will be a great communicator and will ensure a high-quality service for applicants and awardees and will track our social impact through robust monitoring.

Responsibilities include:

• Assessing funding applications received, undertaking due diligence and make recommendations to the grants panel.
• Producing high-quality documentation for all panel meetings including providing the panel with accurate and timely data to support decision-making.

• Effectively manage contractors for our grant's programmes including Community Grants, Employment and Skills and grants for customers.
• Deliver a good user experience for grant applicants and awardees and ensure there is consistency across grant programmes.
• Work with the Funding and Innovation Manager and Social Impact Manager and leads in each team to ensure monitoring and evaluation requirements are being delivered through the grants programme that demonstrate our social impact.

• Supporting opportunities via our grant programmes to bring in external funding to benefit SNG communities and customers.

• Working collaboratively across the Community Investment Directorate and with other internal teams ensuring grants programmes meet the priorities of their teams and customers in localities.

What we are looking for

You will have experience in a similar role in the grants space, or experience of working within the funding/charity sector. You'll have a passion for supporting community groups, creating thriving communities and delivering social impact. You'll also have:

• Experience in assessing grant applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive and proven stakeholder management skills across all levels of colleague and with external partners.
• Contract management experience.
• Understand and interpret budgets and accounts.
• Being able to prepare and present data in a clear and informative way.
• Ability to validate and impact assess, to escalate data issues as required.
• Knowledge of methods to monitor the quality of data and identify issues.

We have a clear ambition at Tommy’s to stop the heartbreak and devastation of baby loss and make pregnancy and birth safe – for everyone. The charity funds high-quality research into the causes and treatments of baby loss and complications, to save babies' lives. Tommy's is at an exciting time with a new strategy and delivering against it to reach our goals. We need an exceptional and motivated individual to lead our research function. The post holder will ensure that our £2 million annual research spend funds the best work.  They will lead funding, governance, public and patient involvement and work closely with the Director for Research, Programmes and Impact to support strategic delivery.

The Head of Research will understand the research landscape and the processes required for research funding and governance.  They must also understand the role that the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) has in supporting this.  The post holder will be a strong communicator who can build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally, and work effectively to deadlines and under pressure.

Your key responsibilities will be flexible. You’ll manage your workload and set objectives, priorities and deadlines with the Head of Fundraising. Your work will include: 

• Partnerships Fundraising: You’ll lead and grow our partnerships fundraising portfolio by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new prospective partnerships. You will prepare proposals, pitches, and reports based on key funding needs, and implement stewardship plans to retain support, maximising partnership value. 

• Community Fundraising: You’ll manage community-based fundraising efforts, including coordinating with other organisations. Develop new community fundraising initiatives and engage volunteers, working to maintain an established network of volunteers which support community fundraising activities.

• Events Fundraising: You will manage our fundraising events, including the London Marathon. Family Rights Group is the leading child welfare charity, and is rolling out its highly successful Lifelong Links programme in London for care experienced young people. As part of that work, we have received funding to create this exciting new post which is ideal for a young people participation expert. 

The Young People’s Participation Officer will build on and continue to develop the charity's young people's participation activities so that young people inform, influence and help to deliver the strategic priorities of the charity. The Senior Volunteering Officer will help us to explore and develop new approaches to volunteering within the NHS. This role is focused on supporting our volunteers that are based within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust services across the North West London Community and to develop new volunteering roles that focus on health challenges within the community.

You’ll provide a high quality experience to volunteers that are located within our community sites, by working with Trust staff and partner organisations to develop new roles that improve the experience to our patients within these clinical services, to identify new locations and roles, to develop our volunteering offer within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

This role will work with the Trust to develop new approaches to volunteering, with a particular focus on designing, launching and evaluating volunteer roles that could bring system change to wider health inequalities.

Additionally, you’ll focus on our volunteer community, ensuring that our volunteer community is as representative of the wider population, and seek to engage groups with a particular focus on the Core20plus5 groups.
